Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Piston Cup Race 11-Pack (Superfan Mia & Tia)

Thanks, “Samuel K,” for the nice photos of the Piston Cup racer 11-pack (yes, it’s confusing as we’ve had about 10 box sets with this same name).

While there are no new releases, this set actually contains quite a few releases with eyelid lines not out yet not out as a re-release in another form so if you’re re-loading your collection, you might want this box set.

Of course, they may be out as a single in 2022 … this set also seems to be mostly stuck in the docks so it may be a while before you see it at Target.

So I’ve told myself I won’t buy anymore Cars on eBay, I will be patient and wait and see what comes out in the stores. Then, I see a listing of 2 cars-Vinyl Toupee and Rev ‘N Go-both Gen 1 racers packaged and just about mint for what was a pretty reasonable price. I hemmed and hawed and thought about it back and forth until, of course, I bought them, never feeling super great about it but feeling ok since it was a better deal than anything else that was listed.

As I’m waiting for them to arrive in the mail, I check Take 5 yesterday and what do I see? A Gen 1 Vinyl Toupee with several other Cars characters that I don’t have in this 11 pack!!! Arrrgh! Lesson learned, I WILL be patient and keep waiting to see what is released out into the wild. Yeesh.

We need a support group! I am waiting for the Thomasville 2021 releases impatiently…

        For sure, right? πŸ™‚

I have found about 3 of the Thomasville racers in the stores this past year and recently bought one on eBay that was a pretty decent deal (that was before the purchase I mentioned above). You are correct, however, they are showing up very slowly and erratically. And they are so fantastic, too! Those are ones I am very glad I have always picked up when I found them-so cool.

I definitely cannot justify running to Walmart, Target, or anywhere else just to hunt for them. I just look whenever I am already going there or if I will be driving past then I will stop. So it slows down the process but makes finding one I was looking for much more special!

I definitely cannot justify running to Walmart, Target, or anywhere else…Lets be honest people… WE ALL RUN TO WALMART, TARGET, OR ANYWHERE ELSE AS OFTEN AS WE CAN!!

It’s an obsession we all have and we cannot pass any of those stores without stopping to see if there are any new Cars!! We sometimes make an excuse to go and the first thing we check is the Cars toys!! Tell me i’m wrong. But it’s soooo much fun when you find just one!!

And we all love Met for the heads up on what next to look for!!

Technically I check the Cars last, after the rest of my shopping is done …

          • Real Gone says:

Very true, I do stop whenever I can, I just make it a point for myself personally to not leave home to drive somewhere to search for Cars and that is the only reason I went there. I have done that many times in the past and it became a problem for me. If I’m already out, well then, of course I will check if at all possible!!!

My local Target actually had this on the shelf a couple weeks ago. Distribution is odd as I have not seen 2 packs and singles but finally caught deluxes after a full Summer off. Anyway, love the selection and I happily paid 45 for all 11 cars!

  • DisneyLover55 says:

Yes, a nice variety of CARS in this set. I think they usually go for about $45 or something like that. That comes out at $4.5 per CAR, so, a little more expensive than if you were just buying singles but you’re probably also paying for the box, twist ties, and there are some CARS not currently available (on shelves) in there as well.

    • Real Gone says:

Another way to look at it is how much time and money spent on fuel trying to find them as singles in stores or buying on eBay and paying for shipping as well. The $45 begins to feel pretty reasonable especially if there are several you are looking for.
