Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Frank 2018 is Frankly Not That Different From Old Frank

Frank 2018 is Frankly not that different from old Frank.

The initial impression of it compared in package to old Frank was that it was a major variant but at the end of the day, it is a variant but not that different now that it’s been opened.

Frank 2009.

Frank 2018.

Basically, Frank 2018 only got an extra overspray of “dirt” (left) all over, extra “grain/corn remnants” on his tires and a different “residue” pattern on his blades.

Beyond that, he is the same size and weighs EXACTLY the same (where was diecast before is still metal).

So, yes, he is technically a variant and I’ll probably label him the “dirty” version and while it’s always nice to get another Frank, it’s really just a slight production paint change.

Yes, you could argue there are some plastic changes but that’s usually the case with production spread out over 7 years, there will always be some differences – nothing out of the norm.

Collect ’em all.

Hey Met, did you compare 2018 with the last one, I think 2016 or 2017? Remember, that version was smaller in size and you have a post on it. Is the 2018 still a variant then? Thanks, Samuel K

    Check Post from January 2018

(MET: Unless someone sends pics of an open side by side, I’m going with ‘optical illusion’ in the bubble … 2018 is a variant as it’s “dirty” – not a huge variant as first thought but unless someone has an open one and the 2009 side by side and lined up …)
