In my opinion, 5 models of Cars more Rare I prefer are:
Mac Icar (Apple # 84), Bubba, Bessie, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (1st Version MSOS),
    Blu Ray Lightning McQueen.
Just one more step down, Showstoppers Sheila, Rhonda & Laverne,
    Cousins Jud, Buford & Cletus.
    Thanks SEDEMA

Would the world shrivel up & die if Mattel sold new releases on Matty Collector? Or if they issued hard release dates for the cases @ the big box stores?

Secondly, with all the free promotion & love collectors have given this line. Why are we constantly exploited with first releases in multi-packs and exorbitantly priced exclusives? Why not reward the collectors?

    • Mack_me_Bucko says:

Because realistically, we are .001% of Mattel’s income stream — we simply don’t matter to a multi-national with annual sales in the billions of dollars. Even if every member of this website bought $5000 of product per year, that would only amount to 0.1% in the sales Mattel sees every year.

      • GotFrank says:

And it’s their choice to not put a small amount of effort out there. To support the small group of people who keep the buzz going. When people go online looking for info on the Cars diecast line. They get their info and possibly interest from the collector’s boards. There’s no “here’s what you need to know about collecting Cars diecasts” page or site from Mattel. We do them a great service (or in economics an externality, a benifit to Mattel that they didn’t pay for. By keeping the current info fresh and archiving lists. I’m not saying they’ll make any more money than they would otherwise. It’s just the right thing to do.

        • Mack_me_Bucko says:

It would be the right thing to do, but unlike ‘Hot Wheels’ or ‘Barbie’, which are Mattel proprietary products, ‘Cars’ (and ‘Planes’) are licensed — so if they sell them, they pay-out to Disney/Pixar to do so. With ‘Hot Wheels’ (which we all know are eminently more supported by Mattel), they take the full cut of the profits.

I wonder if they just don’t have a person in their team who is a forceful advocate for pushing Cars to the design and marketing group like they must have with something like ‘Masters of the Universe’, which admittedly has a following for collectors, but still must be less valuable a property than ‘Cars’.

Why is it so impossible to find “new” CARS product at the retail level?
Stores are either EMPTY or overflowing with peg warmers that NO ONE wants?

Why does Mattel continue to release cases with so many re-issues or so many McQueens or Finns – again that NOBODY wants??

Why are the “Neon Racers” called as such when they are NOT neon – they do not light-up or even glow in the dark???

  • BMW says:

My question is why does Mattel release all the advance information for Hot Wheels releases EARLY and 2014 Hot Wheels Posters are free in stores yet Cars is like the BIGGEST SECRET with NO 2014 Poster.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Who is actually in charge of Cars marketing at Mattel these days? Also, could you provide their email so we can spam the —- out of them?

  • MackDaddy says:

    Dear Metty of Guilder,

I seem to be missing the wee little Volkswagon car with wings. This little guy was seen several times throughout the original movie yet has not been seen since. Can you please tell me if/when we might be seein’ the little bugger?

    Sincerely,
    Mack of Dadlan πŸ˜€

    • GotFrank says:

Totally, the list of samples we’ve seen & were never released is sizable. Daredevil McQ w\Flames, Moderfide Mater. N2O chief & pitty, Shiny Wax hauler to name a few.

  • Cars4AandR says:

    Rip Clutchgoneski question(S):
Will we ever see his Pit Crew Chief and Pitty (ies)?
If so what are their names?
Just how rare is the Pit Stop Launcher?
Where is the infamous Republic of Rearendia located?
Will we ever see Synthetic Rubber Tires, Silver, Metallic Finish Rip?
I know KM is done…any takers WM, Target,TRU,Kohl’s…any retailer?
    …lights are on…anybody home Mattel?

    • Mack_me_Bucko says:

I seem to recall reading someplace that Rip has just a single pitty, and no crew chief at all … but I can’t find the reference again.

    • Fillmore1234 says:

      1. Doubt it, since we’ve seen no diecast WGP Pitties yet and Rip didn’t have a crew chief.
      2. The Pitty and Crew Chief’s names? We don’t know this info.
      3. Quite rare. It was released in very limited quantities overseas in places like Australia and Germany.
      4. We don’t know.
      5. Probably not, knowing Mattel’s current track record on completing series’.
      6. Met may have some knowledge on this one.
      7. It doesn’t seem like they ever are home, haha.

      • Cars4AandR says:

Thanks Mack_me_Bucko and Fillmore1234 for your answers.
Hopefully Mattel will see the light, find the keys to get in the house and fix this mess.
Is anyone form Mattel reading these comments?
Bring them to your Board Mtg…you could learn something.
I guess the bigger they are the more confused they get!
If Mattel released all the missing Cars, Pitties, Haulers, etc…Old and new collectors would BUY THEM ALL!!!

        • Mack_me_Bucko says:

I’m thinking the various unreleased Haulers were never made, because Mattel can’t just pull the artwork out of their … um … files.

Somebody at Pixar would have had to first generate the design of the artwork, the color scheme, image placement on the trailer, and such — and I suspect it was just never done in detail for the more obscure haulers — though I could be wrong, knowing Pixar’s penchant for detail and completeness. If it is a case of having no design to use, Mattel can’t be wholly at fault …

Still, as collectors, we can dream about all the things that may be made “someday”.

  • bobbyjack says:

When is the next wave of Neons going to show up at my Target?

    • Jinzo says:

The correct question should be… Are they still going to continued/restock? They have been discontinued from stores. Some stores didn’t even get a single singles case. Are they coming back?

  • MackDaddy says:

Are these questions for you and your crew Met? Or will we actually receive the answers from Matty? πŸ˜•

(MET: Answers will be from Metty of Guilder, the apparent sworn enemy of Matty of Florin. πŸ™‚ ).

  • Wraukn says:

Will there be more Toon releases of “new” characters? Not re-releases. The Hubcaps, Seniorita Mia & Tia, Mater P.I., a TON of pitty characters from the toons. The Easter Buggy, Reindeer Sleds. NEW, NEW, NEW!

  • Wraukn says:

Will a Kabuto w/ Flames be released? Other than the back door ones?

  • ZipZap says:

When will the 2014 poster be released?

    • Fillmore1234 says:

Seeing how it’s already pretty much half way through the Mattel calendar year and last year’s poster was leaked back in the end of November, I highly doubt it. Mattel really left us in the dark this year.

  • John in Missouri says:

When will Mattel finally find someone with an actual brain in their head? I’m still trying to complete my collection from EIGHT YEARS AGO. For example, all Pit Crews (Haulers, Chiefs, Pitty’s, Launchers).

  • Tom says:

Why are so many Cars out of scale?

  • stammer476 says:

What are the top five rarest, commercially released Cars? (As in, at one time you could actually buy them in a store.)

  • Skinner says:

When will the cancelled released released along with the unreleased diecasts?

  • D J says:

What are your top 5 favorite Cars?
