Disney Toon PLANES: PLANES 2 – Fire & Rescue – It’s a Go! Go!

Apparently PLANES is so great, the sequel PLANES 2: Fire & Rescue is already slotted for next year!

The studio also officially announced a sequel to the animated Planes. Planes: Fire & Rescue is scheduled to hit theaters in 3D on July 18, 2014.

Via the Hollywood Reporter. Other Disney films get release dates including the next three Marvel movies.

Okay, I just jammed the Japanese Rescue Go! Go! series logo with the PLANES logo but you get the idea. I guess this explains in further detail from what Disney hinted at in the earlier press release. It was tough to figure out if this new “rescue” series was a short? a book? but now, it turns out, it’s PLANES 2! … and if you go by the Japanese Tomica line, it looks like a crossover with CARS? Or maybe the CARS appearance are a short and then it’s PLANES 2 characters in the film itself … legally, that might make more sense – it’s obviously not complicated to do the animation but because PLANES is a theatrical motion picture release, it’s not the same deal for the CARS characters actors who are currently only signed to do shorts (other than Owen Wilson who apparently only voices Lightning in films and Larry the Cable Guy who is ready and willing to voice Mater anytime).

REscue CARS

Obviously PLANES: Fire & Rescue lends itself to some pretty cool PLANES and vehicles … I’m sure mom & dad wouldn’t mind an RC plane that drops fire retardant on the white carpet … or the dog. đŸ™‚

I guess you already heard about “Segways, Unicycles and Pogo Sticks”? Dreamworks answer to the Cars universe. Doesn’t leave a lot of room for a diecast line, but I am sure they will figure something out…

Gonna leave Planes collecting to the parents of younger kids. Mine grew up with the Cars movies and would rather play with action figures and my iPad now. I’ll admit, this last year was really just collecting for me… ;). It was a good run while it lasted. Enjoy y’all!

    Enough already.

Hey, there is an official poster already out. I found it a couple weeks ago, it looked legit…but i automatically wrote it off as fake/fan made. It doesn’t surprise me even though at the same time it’s a big surprise for me. The whole Fire and rescue thing was what really through me off. If you can’t find the poster i have saved an image off it…it’s just small though. Next year is like…what? Already? That means they have been working on that already for a while now. Even though its not Pixar, I think many people would be happy with a Cars 3. Am i right?

I hope I’m not the only one who feels this sequel is unnecessary.

That is exactly the reason I’m not buying diecasts from the first movie – money pit.

I have also heard there will be Planes 3.

(MET: I wasn’t sure if that was a joke so I didn’t mention it – and if it is real, we’ll have plenty of time to digest it. đŸ™‚ ).

    What about “Trains”?

Man, that was quick. I figured ‘Buses’ would come out before Planes 2.

1 movie and a sequel for each mode of transportation, in order:

      Planes 2013, Planes 2 2014
      Buses 2015, Buses 2 2016
      Boats 2017, Boats 2 2018

Say what? Planes 2 already in the lineup. Disney knows how to flatten my wallet. Haha.
