Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecasts: Roger, the Space Shuttle

“John H.” sends along great pics of Roger, the Space Shuttle …

He looks nicely detailed …

“Plastic Mater doesn’t fit in the bay very well, but sits down far enough for the cargo doors to close.”

And he has lights and sounds!

“Roger has sounds from the short, “Let’s Burn this Candle”, etc. Rockets light up and flash.”

Sadly, metal Autonaut Mater does not fit …

Plastic Mater (included with Roger) is nice looking also but not as detailed …

The back is not as nice (plastic on the right).

“John H.” definitely knows the right way to display Roger. AUTHENTIC! SWEET!

Comparison …

Nice!

Thanks for the great pics, John H.

Is this available outside of Amazon yet? Where did the 747 come from? Very cool !!

(MET: You can still get Everett the Jumbo Jet from Amazon – price much lower than original release price).

A T5AD member sent this to my son as a gift and he LOVES it! He plays with it for hours, running around the house with it in the air. Really awesome set!

The inscription on the back next to Mater says “NOT A FLYING TOY” this is a famous quote from a movie I can’t remember!…. Which one was it??? 😉

Has anyone found the Micro Drifters in stores? I’ve seen them listed on the TRU website for a few weeks now but the status has never changed (still says out of stock for shipping) so you can’t order them.

I think the last new Cars we found (other than the KM Cars) were at Christmas time, we found Pope and Popemobile at WM. We’re so far behind I don’t know what we’re missing.

Amazon has had the Micro Drifters play set listed as in stock for shipping for about a week and a half, don’t know anyone that has bought one. The set comes with one drifter Lightning McQueen so that would be an early way to get a hold of one. I’ve heard July for most Micro Drifters, but that’s just a rumor.

Thanks John and brittany for the info. I thought they were released in May and just hadn’t made their way here yet. I ordered the play set from Amazon, I think there are 2 cases (the Mack case and a stand-up case) so hopefully I can find them in a store to see which looks better. At least now I know where to get one of them

Funny how they show Marco’s name on the back of the box instead of Stu Bop. This looks like a great set, I can’t wait to have him!

He will be a cool addition to our collection. Has anyone found this in the wild yet?? Our kids will surely love it!

  • Jack says:

Think this is a pass for us. Maybe if it goes on clearance.

  • Tom says:

Looks like hours of fun for the kids, my younger son was playing with Everett quite a lot this weekend.
Been looking forward to Roger for a long time.
Is Roger plastic? Are his eyes stickers?
Thanks for the pics, John H.

    • John says:

Roger is all plastic, very much the same construction and design as Siddeley. Graphics are stickers; better quality stickers than on the 1:55 plastic Cars, which seem to be paper, but still stickers. My kids have been playing with him a lot but aren’t happy that metal Mater Autonaut does not fit in the cargo bay.
Neither Mater has the cool metal mesh “tires” that Mater has in the movie.

I am on the look out for this. My kids will love it.

    Sweet!

I opened mine this weekend so my grandchildren could play with it.. They liked it a lot… and we watched the 2 Tall Tales too.

  • John in Missouri says:

GREAT idea pairing him with the 747! They should have made them so the two would connect like that.

It’s also a crying shame that diecast Mater doesn’t fit.
