Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: The Final Final Lap CARS

Here’s what left on the official list of the next two cases …

In theory, both cases should have been released by now – but since they are Target exclusives, it hard to say what’s what … are they saving them for the Spring reset? After Easter but before the CARS 2 reset on May 16, 2011?

Will a few or will many places break the embargo as CARS merchandise is arriving daily?

Will you be rejected at the register if the UPC or DCPI is not in the system or will they just ring it up as “non-food?”

Of course, I saw one Final Lap hanging on a peg at TRU (Marlon Clutches McKay) – was that a wayward return (TRU is usually pretty strict)?

And with just one on the shelf, it’s hard to safety guess what the real situation was?

Or has Mattel just thrown up their arms? Singles are singles.

Or will they be dumped at Big Lots?

So chime in if you see them on the shelves.

As for the remainder on various lists? It seems unlikely there will be a rush of CARS 1 CARs are the CARS 2 cases are furiously arriving … but anything is possible.

I just checked with one of the target employees about the final Lap, I was told they don’t have it any more and the product was discontinued.
    Same thing with the Lenticulars.
Also Walmart has discontinued most of the Disney Cars.

  • Jinzo says:

I blame disappearance of Cars 1 line due to Cars II. I curse Cars 2 😀 JK… but seriously… still waiting on the rest of FL case… Case K I think.. Derek/Coriander/etc I’m in panic mode right now since it officially says DISCONTINUED on the PDA 🙁
One thing I have to say… I wish I could go back in time and pick up that Bubble Mater I left behind 🙁 Man…

  • TarheelBill says:

The way Mattel is handling the distribution…or should I say the lack there of…of the end of the Cars 1 line, it sure doesn’t do much to encourage the collecting of the Cars 2 line. What happened to “Collect them all”? They could at least give those who have supported and collected the Cars 1 line from the beginning a fair chance to finish off our collections. Not to mention the many promised Cars we have been teased with…that we will never see. 🙁

  • kachow95 says:

I guess this means no lizzie. I was waiting on her and dexter with green flag. the targets in the northwest suburbs by chicago havent received any cars for the past 2 months. they barely received the latest FL case 2 weeks ago. the pegs are always empty and this is the same in 4 target stores I go to every week. the last chase car was mater with the lamp, I feel so behind. I dont know if it’s the same with man-i-fold and others nearby.

    • Man-I-Fold says:

Hi Kachow! I hope I haven’t been shopping at your 4 stores. Which are they? Your report seems to match mine on the FL’s and Chase cars. However, Miles/Leroy/Marco Megas were at the WalMart Touhy store. I picked up Lou’s set and left the others. But, the eBayer walked in right after me…. Miles/Leroy/Marco AND Padre/MV as well as the double-chase case Mater all have hit 1 or more WalMarts on the south side. Good luck! ~ Mike Manifold

      • kachow95 says:

the targets I go to are: melrose park, norridge, one in chicago, and westchester.

        • Man-I-Fold says:

I do go to the HIP Target and Brickyard on rare occasions. I’ll be more conscientious of your route. My usual Targets are Peterson and Howard St. Mrs. Manifold or I took our son to the last 2 KMart days in Norridge; did we run into you there?

          • kachow95 says:

yeah, when I mentioned the one in chicago, its the one at the brickyard. as much as I would have enjoyed bumping into you at the kmart event in norridge, I attended the one in franklin park. norridge was my first choice, but I had a feeling many people would be there and figured it would be better to go at the one in franklin park and it worked out fine because nobody else was there and I got all the cars and posters(master mind).

            • Man-I-Fold says:

Yes, Norridge was a bit busier than the Chicago stores. There were about 10+ people, including some greedy cart-bursting eBayers, but there were a lot of friendly Cars fans which made it fun. Good going on your poster/cars plan. I almost got the front-of-store poster after the event at the Elston KMart, as they forgot to raffle it off, but the night manager was not amenable. Happy hunting! ~ Mike

    Speaking of Final Lap Cars
    I’ve just found this-

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230591861773

A bargain if I ever saw one! And there’s two available! What luck!!!!

  • Cars4aandR says:

    Hi everyone,
At least you guys have Target stores to browse thru…Canada…in +/- 2 years before they change the Zellers stores to Target.
I have been buying Final Laps thru e-pay!…excuse me e-bay.
How many FL in total counting the re-releases?
Could someone please share the FL 36 list (and complete list) so I can compare what I have and what I am missing?
    Thanks 🙂

  • snosno says:

My Targets are just getting a reload of the Duff Wrecks, Marilyn etc. Case

  • Met, Will these two cases come out before Cars 2?

(MET: In theory, CARS 1 CARS will be all be released to retail by May 16 …).

  • ScoobyDoo says:

So no Race Damaged Leak Less and Leafy Lightning McQueen, which were expected earlier in this series, apparently.

    • Fillmore1234 says:

Same with Rev N Go, N2OCola, and Mood Springs Pittys, and Damaged No Stall was supposed to be a Movie Moment or a 3 Pack with Damaged Leakless and Lightning McQueen.

  • ScoobyDoo says:

    Correct spelling of names:

    Dan Sclarkenberg
    Kit Revster
    Percy Hanbrakes
    Wilmar Flattz

    Bennie Caliper
    Bertha Butterswagon
    Cora Copper Golddigger
    Mildred Bylane

  • quercy says:

Hoover with checkered flag would be the most logical choice to be the last of the FL to be released. Unfortunately it won’t happen and more unfortunately these 8 FL won’t be distributed in all Targets… Let’s go Mattel, the show must go on!

  • ScoobyDoo says:

This would bring the total number of Final Lap cars on 44, if I’m correct (Met?). With 40 originally planned, right?

  • jestrjef says:

I have been trying hard to look at things as positively as possible, but it is getting SOOOOOOO hard to do. 🙁

I surely hope that we see these new ones in Florida. I have hit tons of Targets, tons of times in the last month and NO SIGN of the Coriander Case ANYWHERE … TONS of the Duff Wrecks case hit the pegs about 2/3 weeks ago, and that was even at stores that HAD 10-14 REPEAT case Cars already on the pegs. It was like the Duff Wrecks case FORCED into all of these stores to clear the warehouse.

I was thinking that the sale WAS to clear the pegs for new stock, but maybe it is just a presale for the clearance rack … come on Target, finish this out the right way, PLEASE!!!!!!! 🙂

    • bmw says:

      Never saw them here.
SE Texas Targets just passed this case by with Coriander. One store of 29 had a case since these were first found in the midwest in Jan.

    • Nicole H says:

I haven’t found them in Des Moines either. I’ve been to 3 Targets this week and the only stuff on the pegs were Color Changers.

    • Stig McQueen says:

I guess that explains why I found two Duff Wrecks hanging on the pegs at my local Target, after months of nothing. Most of the pegs are still bare, but as I went through what was there after seeing Duff, I went home with Timothy “Timezone” Truecoat, Jonathan Wrenchworths, and Milo. They also had Marilyn and Valerie Veate, which I’d already found.

Maybe we’ll see these cases after all, eventually…

  • MWH80 says:

Actually, the Cars Finder lists Bernie as ‘Bennie Caliper.’

The last FL’s I saw that were ‘fresh-cased’ were Duff Wrecks and Valerie Veate. I’ve been lucky my Northern Chicago Contact was able to help me find what I couldn’t. And at this rate, I’m glad I sunk in that extra cash to get Chuck Cables, Brian and Stu from overseas. This just confirms my pessimism that Mattel seems to be shutting down all restock avenues for the US.

It seems the toy aisles in the stores around Chicago have had the same stock for the last 2 months! My co-worker collects Transformers, and he’s as frustrated as I am with the stocking, to the point that he’s relied on the internet to find what he needs.

I’m probably also going to pay through the nose on eBay for these as well. At this point it’s become less about the fun, and moreso about ‘dying with the most Final Laps.’ Mattel has surely convinced me that I will be seeing Cars 2, but not collecting their next film’s wave.

Btw, so Cora Copter is just the properly-named Kathy copter, right?

  • Jack says:

I just hope these 2 cases aren’t too hard to find. It would be nice if Target finished what they started. Having the final laps disappearing from some Targets has me a bit worried.
I wouldn’t mind if the Disney store got the last few cases though. I like shopping there.
After collecting the whole final lap line so far it would de extremely dissapointing to not be able to get the last 8 cars.
I guess we will see what happens soon enough. I will be on the lookout either way.

  • TarheelBill says:

    Isn’t it Wilmar Flattz…with 2 ts?

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Here in Pierce County, WA none of the Targets I check received any of the last Final Lap Cars with the exception of one Target (160th & Meridian). That Target received at least three shipments. Go figure! At all stores newer castings are starting to show up. However, Fred Meyer is the only store currently stocking Paul Valdez and Chet Boxhaar. Fred Meyer on Meridian and 176th received the new haulers also. Pretty sad when a regional variety store beats out TRU and the big boys!

    • manaraki says:

Hey poppa, I am up here in Lynnwood. I hit three targets, 2 TRU’s and 2 Walmarts today. I usually check twice a week. I have never seen any final laps from the Duff Wrecks case or the Coriander case. I finally found the Leroy Traffic with snow tires, Marco, and Miles along with a Lug & Nutty with Oil Cans. First time ever. Also found a Chet last week at Fred Meyer.

      • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

The Target in Puyallup (Meridian & 160th)has had so many from the Duff Wrecks case that they became peg warmers. All they had last week were the Final Four (Basketball-NOT) and the Wrecked case. In Tacoma the three Target had no shipments of the Final Four, although the Union Avenue Target has been going through a remodel to carry fresh meat and produce.

There are some T5AD enthusiasts down here in Tacoma and Chuki is in Lacey.

  • Lee says:

According to google images of characters from the Cars blu-ray disc, there are characters named “Cora Copper” (not Copter) – another photographer, and Bennie Caliper (not Bernie). There is a Bernie Banks, which is yet another photographer.

  • BMW says:

Has anyone seen any of these last diecasts on ebay from back door sellers?
Usually by now some would have leaked out of the factories.

  • L8rM8r says:

These are getting harder and harder to find. I too had to ask for help from other collectors and ebay to fill in some gaps. I did finally find one case of the last ones, but one Target has removed the pegs for the Final Lap Cars and lenticular Cars and replaced them with………wait for it………… Color changers. Not a good scene.

I just hope that the do close out the final lap cars with these two final cases as we all do need closure, but if my local Target is any indication of the norm we could be out of luck. Anyone else have there Target remove all the pegs for FL and Lenticular?

  • Chris says:

That list has the makings of a pretty good 9-pack, just throw in a McQueen. There would be no obvious theme for the pack. They could call it “…and the rest”, like the first Gilligan’s Island song.

  • Outlawbak says:

This last case was next to impossible to find in SE Texas, I found them in only one Target. The rest came from a close friend who has a long reach to the far west side of Texas. These next two will end up driving us crazy!!

  • Man-I-Fold says:

    bring ’em!

  • bobbyjack says:

I wish I had known these were coming before I bought a lenticular Wilmer Flattz. I hit the N20 too soon on Marlon McKay and Duff Wrecks also. All the Targets near me have empty pegs except for Color Changers so we should get these soon. When I find them I’ll be sure to pick up some extras for you guys.

  • daniel's dad says:

My two closest Targets are 1) Remodeling to become a food store & 2) The “smallest” Store in the district. That is ALL I HEAR when I go there and ask about almost anything.

  • BMW says:

    Runnin on empty

  • John in Missouri says:

I was so “thrilled” when my Target marked these down to $4.39 — and the pegs were empty!! (and still are)

  • cac1959 says:

Here’s hoping that we can find them and that there is widespread distribution at all Target stores at the same time… which hasn’t happened yet… but there’s always a first time…

    • rockbottom says:

I have not seen anything new since Christmas. All these new releases and the Fl Panhandle is dry. Distribution is pitiful. Would like to complete Cars 1 but they are making it very difficult except for E-bay prices.
