my mom just picked up a Sarge and Rod Torque Redline at Kohl’s – she is claiming both are numbered 15.
I was holding off going to Kohl’s because I didn’t need any 3 packs. But now that say that you found Rod Torque Redline there, I guess I need to stop in tomorrow.
I have Rod, right here and his # is 16..

One thing I’ve learned is that Mattel doesn’t listen to the people that feed them. They will screw this series up as well (at least in our collector minds). I forsee them over-producing these. Look, they got most of you buying these hot cakes for 5 years. They will milk this new movie as well.
16 Cars – 16 car cardback. Starting out faster than Desert Back cars.
These will be abundant, pretty sure I will wait until I see the movie first. I bought the Cars in 2006 after I saw the movie and loved the characters and the Route 66 nostalgia. This movie will be a hit overseas without a doubt. My thinking is I will collect them if I love the movie.
But many of us are still disappointed in how Mattel handled Cars 1 after 5 years. Too many repeats and too few new characters for those who collected from the start, with offshoot lines that just kept repeating the same characters with gimmicks like the Lenticular line and Color Changers.
There are 214 Characters in the Cars Blu Ray finder game, and now after all this time, Mattel hasn’t msde them all. So the mantra “Collect them all” does not apply. It should be “Mattel make them all.”
This may have been posted somewhere, but I haven’t seen it. Any idea on which CARS will be in the first case? And how many of each?

Looking good… 1-9, 12, 13, and 16 – definitely…but I am not convinced I’ll be buying the Radiator Springs crew just to pick up a new 95 decal…

This is exactly why I’ll watch the movie, skip the “collect them all”.
Cool pics of the carded crew team, but I like many am a little turned off that they are just slapping a decal on these guys and calling them new. The other race cars look very cool and do like the new packaging overall.

I collect variations. If the Radiator Springs group has some changed facial expressions or paint, I will buy them. I don’t know about just an added #95 decal, which I can do myself.
I agree with you if you are an opener but what I love about collecting cars is the cards are so beautiful and most of them are unique to their character. CARS2 seems to have improoved the card design and make me happier and possibly thousands other non-opener collectors… Honestly which other collectible have such beautiful package layout??? Just think about the TOONs 4 packs set up or the racing sets, etc… Yes you pay more but you get something very well done.
I was originally an opener, but have gone back and bought a lot of them packaged. Starting with the Final Lap Series, I didn’t open one until I got a second.

Thanks for using my checklist MET! and #15 is Sarge, and #16 is Rod Torque Redline. I got a picture from a friend who showed me Rod, and he is #16.
Maybe it will take “Cars 3” to get them to finally put “Luigi & Guido” on the package (since we see them in that order in the package). It’s like movie posters that say “Mel Gibson and Danny Glover”, but the photos shows Danny Glover, then Mel Gibson.

So unless Mattel fixed the cardback since those pictures were leaked, its an error card. Shades of the original Desert Art cards misspelling of Filmore.
OK now it’s getting harder to say we’re only collecting for Cars not Cars2
