Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Mater Tall Tales Toon Singles – Arriving at Target?

It seems more and more people are reporting seeing these arriving at Target …

All found by “Dorvack1,” thanks for the nice pics.

BTW, this CAR is accurate to the FINAL SCENE of Toyko Mater … the screenshot is not correct.

Looks like his scene in Tokyo Mater is fleeting …

Eye Kyandee.

This was originally listed as a separate case item but I think everything was re-packed … maybe because we didn’t more Mater Greater Pitty’s?

Thanks for the photos, “Dorvack1.”

And also in the case, “Carl P.” sends along nice photos of the difference between the NEW Dragon McQueen Clean …

And the previous release …

So thanks, Dorvack1 and CARl P. for the nice photos.

Happy hunting.

  • TowMater says:

Got them all yesterday for $3 each at TRU.

Hey Met, so will they have a Mater that’s dropped low like the
drift one in the video, will that be called Final Tokyo Mater?

Just checking or I’ll have to do some MODIFICATIONS!! LOL

  • These have been showing up at TRU for a few weeks in MA

  • pixartodd says:

I found those TOONs at a KOHLS department store. Sale price $5.09, 30% discount, final price $3.56….. YIPEE!

  • Shawn says:

Just found all of these in TRU in Philadelphia.

  • Nitroapolis says:

Some lucky finds…My Target is stocked with Toon Pegwarmers. Soaked McQueen, GTO, Kori, etc. Well, that was what I saw the last time I was there…It’s been a while. Things may have changed.

  • Mariela says:

    BTW..awesome score Dorvack1!!!!

  • Chris with tray says:

To all of you who live on the west coast: Van San, Big Fan, etc. are showing up at Fred Meyers. Their Toons are only $3:99 base, and there’s a buy 2 get 1 free sale. Also, TRU (at least mine) put out a new cube with a bunch of new Toons (Teki and Paki, Van San, Big Fan, etc).

  • BMW says:

We never got them here during the TRU 2 for 6.99 sale. A friend got them for me at the sale price on the east coast. Now they are back at the 4.99 each price. Target never has sales like TRU does.

  • jmularczyk says:

you could try the cars relocation program. Buy all the pegwarmers and return them to a far away Target. I’ve never done it but now that the topic has come up again, It seems like it would work.

    • Man-I-Fold says:

I tried this one once. I bought all of the Case F Final Laps that had been clogging the pegs for weeks and weeks with no movement (Jamie, Johnny, McQueen), this was about $80 worth, and returned them all to a distant Target (the eBayer’s main one I think). Within a few days, I swear the exact same batch reappeared on the first Target’s pegs, and this time with bent up cards. I know it could have been a restock, but it seems like it was a return, because a zillion Ito San with bent up cards also appeared at the same time. Was it a restock, or did Target return the items to the original store, or did the eBayer send me a message? Hmmm… I’ve heard this works for some people, though.
I will be glad to see new Toons at Target, however, as TRU keeps very difficult hours for night-owl Cars hunting.

(MET: Man, Where’s the video? I sense an Oscar winning documentary here 🙂 ).

    Awesome.

  • diecast155 says:

Nice!!! Now, if only my local Target would stock these…..

  • John in Missouri says:

My Target may never get those, as there are still probably 60 original ones still clogging the pegs. That recent endcap killed any chances of seeing new ones before Christmas.

    • Dunroamin says:

try this…round up all the peg warmers in a basket…go to an aisle that gets little trafic…stash the basket behind a big item, like those shag bean bags or the inflatable pools…best to do this on a day they are ordering merch.

never done it, but it might work…

      • John in Missouri says:

I’ve thought of that before, but don’t they order when they sell down to a certain level?

        • Stig McQueen says:

Yeah, they seem to order not on the basis of what’s in the store, but on the basis of what the computer tells them it’s time to order. And since Target’s inventory computer apparently can’t distinguish between a buttload of MTG pittys that have been hanging around for months and a case of new UFM CARS that everyone is looking for, it won’t order anything new no matter how many cartloads of Nurse GTOs you hide.

Maybe it’s time once again for T5AD-ers to step up, buy all of the unwanted peg warmers ourselves, and drop them in the Toys for Tots donation boxes. Kids in need get new toys, pegs get cleared, and HAL the inventory computer orders new cases. Seems like a win-win to me!

      • I-am-speed says:

Relocating them within the store does nothing to change the inventory count, which is what determines when the system automatically replenishes that store. It has to go through a register, lowering the stock on hand.

Final Laps, for example, have to get down to as low as 1 or 2 to get the gray dot to appear on the shelf peg. I’ve seen it happen. 2 FLs sit there for days/weeks, one sells and here comes the restock.

Every item in that store has a minimum quantity that triggers replenishment. If stock stays sufficient to cover that number, a restock is highly unlikely.

  • PirateDad says:

    DAD GUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jestrjef says:

WOW!! It would be NICE if my Targets started to get ANYTHING NEW!! Bring on the Christmas STOCK UP!! 🙂
