Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Mater Tall Tales Wrestling CARS

More photos from “Big56Matt,” from Toyfair …

First the 1:55 Mater Tall Tales Monster Truck Mater CARS …

Since they have Monster Truck tires, nearly everything from this short will be in the Megasize-Deluxe card.

Lightning McQueen = Frightning McQueen

And Mater is Tormentor …

Tormentor is shown below with Dr. Feel Bad.

And …Rastacarian & Rasta Mater …

There is also “I-Screamer/Ice Creamer.”*

As I have not seen the short, I cannot guess the plot (beyond it’s about trucks wrestling 🙂  ) but based on the Rasta Mater above and that there’s also an “I-Scream/Ice Creamer Mater” diecast, I’m going to guess that one of the sub plot somehow involves Mater “dressing up” as other wrestling CARS?

There is one other megasize CAR called ‘Mater’s Biggest Fan” which is DIFFERENT than the one in the Collector’s Guide as that one is for Mater the Greater.

There is only one non-megasize CAR from the Wrestling short and it’s a referee CAR, a Pitty with a bell.

Hard to tell if there will be a 4-pack, now that it looks like a Target-only item, but probably.

For the 1:55 scale series, there is also a playset that looks pretty elaborate …

On the right, it looks like there’s a device that will flip the CAR …

And the other side has some swipe-push device to meet your other Wrestling CAR … or maybe Chuki versus Bubba?

Or maybe when you’re on the phone … the APPLE CAR versus GASK-ITS?

Whoever wins – there will be tears?!

😆

(the included CAR with the box set is in scale but ALL PLASTIC, but you knew that 🙂  ).

And now, to confuse you, there will be a 1:43 scale PLASTIC lineup with a punching feature … so kids and siblings will enjoy that very much 🙂

Lightning McMean and (Mater) Tormentor … hard to judge scale from these photos but it’ll be easier to tell in the stores plus the packaging is different …

There will be fewer releases than the 1:55 series …

These three are pretty much it for the PLASTIC 1:43 scale … unless it becomes hugely popular …

… or you can park these next to the Disney Store CARS.

And for kids, a giant Lightning McMean …

So thanks “Big56Matt” and “Nikko.”

(and yes, we should see a lot more Tokyo Mater CARS before these arrive).

* Ice Creamer photo is the 1:43 photo but the 1:55 version should just be slightly smaller (and more metal, of course).

Saw this game at the Salem NH TRU for the first time this past weekend.
Agree with most of the sentiment here. Other than Dragon LMQ and Yokoza haven’t seen any other Tokyo Mater cars. Haven’t seen these wrestling cars singles or any El Materdor singles. My son wants Pittys, Haulers and Crew Chiefs for each Piston Cup Racer. Even some of the FL releases are ho-hum, I mean Jamie and Johnny?? Yawn!!

  • jake c says:

im in england so i havent even seen the rescue squad maters yet or mater the greater :'(

  • Punching cars? That is so PG-13.

  • Monica says:

Cars with punching? My boys will be on Cloud 9.

  • Daniel says:

It’s because of cr@p like this that I am not regretting abandoning the Toons line.

Mattel’s poor distribution, Target exclusives and lack of focus on the mainline just might get me out of Cars altogether.

Hey Disney….Give the rights to Hasbro!!!

  • 5oclockshadow says:

I expect the playsets to be the sought after collectibles down the road, not the cars.

These should be really popular, however, with the young kids…. these roll and punch….. thats kinda cool…

  • Hearseman UK says:

Think these are great but will be years before we see them over here me thinks. I Was adamant not going to collect the googly eyes range BUT since tescos have the new ones like vern, jay limo and others I have succumbed (spelt like that?)and have fallen into Mattels money making trap.
After all, better for me to spend £4 (approx) compared to paying over the odds (£10+) to buy ‘imported’ final lap models!!
    Tescos had 1 Sven, 2 Barney & 5 Marco’s!!!
Went into Argos who listed 250 lenticulars in stock, the kid came out with the same box of 100 loose cars that were there last year!! he insisted he had nothing new!
My head is soooo confused with all these different ones so these wrestling ones are going to add to it..shame we didn’t have a hearse monster truck!!

  • christianscars says:

Awesome. So happy to see an icecream truck finally.

This is what makes the line continously fun for kids and big kids alike.

  • I-am-speed says:

It’s stuff like this that’s going to make it much easier to just walk away and be done with Cars.

We don’t even have half of the haulers yet, and Mattel is spending time and money creating things that don’t even have a “short” to be tied to yet!

Between Mattel and the retailers that don’t have a clue what to stock, I’m getting close to just pulling the plug.

  • Do something else Mattel!

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Get use to these you guys! Disney has realized ‘Cars’ is a “property” that will cash in $$$ for all the royalties associated with toys, cereal, diapers, books, etc. If you do not like it, don’t buy it! All these toys will force you to focus on whatever you like best. I’ve limited my collecting to the non lenticular movie characters, no Cartoons, etc.

I am bracing for the deluge of Cars from Cars II. McQueen touring Europe, racing in different countries, etc. You guys want racers? You’re going to get them, big time! Cars II is going to be made to sell toys! That’s the name of the game. Enjoy! 🙂

  • Jinzo says:

OMG! These look so extreme! MUST HAVE THEM!!!!
    .
    .
    .
    .
Seriously?? NO! These look like customs… they don’t look nice at all… Mattel… please just concentrate on what has to come out that’s already made and not what will come out of out someones dead brain please!

  • Brown Fury says:

Cars meets Nacho Libre… entertaining, but pass.

  • Webcar2010 says:

Wow, the huge monster truck wall on the playset’s box looks a lot like

the Screamin’ Banshee from Mater and the Ghostlight.

  • AlbertHinkey says:

I am choosey when it comes to the Mater Toons lines and so far the Tokyo Mater and the El Materdor have me sold. These look like solid fun with the playset though…come on you have to admit!

  • quercy says:

Just ridiculous! I tought the alphabet was A,B,C,D… not A,B,Z,P,R,T,E…

  • NO Lenticulars says:

    No thanks Mattel.

I’ve decided instead of spending all my money on the toys from the next 1,000 Tall Tales I’ll just give it to Eddie Paul for one car in actual size. 🙂

MET posted about Eddie a couple years ago:

    http://www.takefiveaday.com/2008/03/01/mattel-disney-pixar-cars-how-to-photoshop-your-car-as-a-pixar-car/

  • I-am-speed says:

What about the black bungee cord dreadlocks on Rastacarian & Rasta Mater???

  • CaptainChunk says:

Those are just god awful. I’m done with the Mater Tall Tales line after Tokyo Mater runs it’s course.

    • ScoobyDoo says:

I fully agree. None of the shorts since Tokyo Mater are very good, in my opinion, and neither are the models. Focusing on the main line now (Final lap) and awaiting Cars 2 !

  • jestrjef says:

WOW! These are pretty AWESOME!! I am sure they will FLY off the PEGS if they CLEAR THE PEGS OF THE Rescue Squad Mater and Mater the Greater Stuff in our area! I still have yet to see any Tokyo Mater stuff in the wild. My son will TOTAL like these …. and so will his dad!! 🙂

  • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

…and Disney said, I have a really GREAT Idea, Let’s take all that RED, and BLUE, and YELLOW paint that we were going to paint GASK-ITS with, and just come up with a couple of NEW THINGS THAT IS REALLY STUPID!!! NO OFFENSE TO WRESTLING FANS, but MY GOD!!!! I am putting in my request for a McQueen Howdy Doody… I want it really BIG at a cost of around $49.00 so I can stick my hand up his exhaust pipe and move is front bumper. Oh and a same size MATER all painted WHITE and BROWN as you don’t seem to be using any Tach-O-Mint paint; only Mater is going to have a SPACE SUIT on and a big spring inside his exhaust pipe, so when I put my hand inside him I will be able to LAUNCH HIM!!!

(MET: Well, I believe your peachy keen senses are right on – I believe there is a space short coming … 😆 ).

  • collectormom says:

I can’t keep up with these. I have a hard enough time finding the original movie Cars much less the MTT Cars. I understand why Mattel is doing this but I’m not on board.

And by the way; where is the LMQ with guide book?? Is it out yet? Something else I can’t find

  • Jeff says:

How about releasing the shorts FIRST, and then showing the toys? We are yet to see any of the new shorts, including Heavy Metal Mater, which was out in France for months now!

  • Edge says:

These are nice, but where are the CARS for El Materdor??!?!?! I mean, seriously… finish one toon first, then move on to the next, and preferably to one that has already been shown on TV. I want CHUY!!!

  • TarheelBill says:

Yea pretty cool…but could you please finish the canon line from the movie???

  • lou says:

are you guys serious? these look hilarious. more for me!

  • rpag says:

no thanks. getting out of control now

    • Jack says:

I agree. Totally out of control. We don’t even have El Materdor Mater yet and they are making the new Toons before we even see the shorts. Is Mattel just trying to see how far we will go now? As others have said. Finish the darn mainline.

  • L8rM8r says:

They are certainly different that is for sure, but not for me.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

    Too far!!!!! I love it!!!!

Rastacarian is gonna steal the show for sure!!!!!!!!

  • John in Missouri says:

The Rastafans remind me of The Predator.

  • Matt says:

These are clearly on the Mattel monster truck frames that languish on the shelves. A definite NO.

(MET: Hey, trade secret! 🙂 ).

  • kdthomas says:

Yeah, they’ve officially lost me on these Tall Tales lines. For one, the stores still have the first short on the pegs. It’s already April 2010 and still no collector guide. They are getting way to off track from the movie…a little too tall of a tale for me. I see all of this line being priced around $7.99 each….yeah, no thanks.

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

I’m not too sure of these. Could be the paint, or the wheels, or just the overall look. The only one that looks good imo is the Aumbulance. I’m sure I will still buy them but!

  • por356 says:

I’m not a wrestling or monster truck fan, so when I first heard about these I thought that I would pass. Hah! So much for that plan! Mattel and Pixar have done it again. To bankruptcy and beyond!

  • clasp99 says:

    Pretty cool looking.
