Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Lego Lessons?
There’s a very interesting article in the NY Times about the recent financial and creative history of LEGO.
One area of focus was their financial and market share difficulties a few years back because …
“The most popular toys would run out, he recalls, and Lego was simply unable to ship more …”
“That began to change in 2004, after Mr. Knudstorp took over in Billund and Mr. Laursen arrived at Legoβs regional headquarters in Enfield, Conn. Besides reaching out to top retailers and cutting costs, they untangled a supply chain …”
I wonder if that’s advice and a sound business process that another toy retailer might try …
Humm, who might be able to use this advice?
Yankee Stadium LEGO from Sean Kenney, master LEGO Builder …
He’ll be happy to build anything for you (um, bring money. He’ll supply the bricks).
Our OLD POST on LEGO versus PLAYMOBILE.
One word… WOW!!!
Yeah we love Legos too. Matter of fact, me and Monica are having a super-secret Cars meeting at Legoland next month…..Carlsbad anyone?
I was going to ask if anyone’s been to Legoland/CA?
I am soooo glad we are not to this stage yet in our house!! I am sure it won’t be long!!
Can I get an AMEN?!?
it gives an inspiration to build the piston race track, together with the audience seats
just wonder how much lego pieces would that need
another great post thanks Met. I love the lego and so does my son. I especially love the spin-off series like StarWars lego and I can’t wait for the Toy Story lego seen at SDCC.
TOY STORY LEGO!
Awesome…Love the SW legos too…
Has anyone decided to collect the new Toy story toy Line?
We have been collecting Toy Story toys (and stuff) since the first movie came out. So yes, we are collecting the new Toy Story line now although we need to be more selective because of space and $$$. Some of the new toys are re-makes of the originals so we’ll pass on those but if something new comes along, we’re on it.
That was a REALLY good article….Lego took some hits but listened to their partners and rebounded….interesting lessons there….
See…if that was Fenway park, all the seats would be filled π
LOL!! The ample seating looks more like Dodger Stadium than Yankee Stadium!
Or toronto!
Yeah, we love Legos! I had noticed that Legos were experiencing a resurgence, but didn’t know why. Learn something new everyday! It’s amazing the difference a couple of smart and motivated people can make.
Does anyone watch 30 Rock??? Do you remember the six sigma meeting where they had to build a train out of legos?? The train is on the “Master Builders” website – hilarious. It just jumped out at me in there. Love that show, and legos of course!
I love 30 Rock!!
I want to see Wrigley Field built in Lego’s!
Yeah, but the Cubs still won’t win! But, that would make some interesting bleacher bums Lego little guys. And, all those roof top beer garden over the wall would make an interesting addition to the Lego City line. π
me too!
Wow! Impressive building skills there… When is Lego Duplo going to start making Cars items??
(MET: 2010).
Maybe you should forward that NY Times article to a few of the big shots at Mattel.
