Who knew you could release an entire line of CARS with just cones glued to them? 🙂
I’m pretty certain this is Dash Boardman.
This was a proto and the glue did not hold the camera in the right position – the actual release will have the lens-LCD over his eye.

Yea, yea, why would a world of cars need a “taxi” service but as we saw, CARS can get lost and sometimes need a guide or if you drink too much Octane Gain, maybe a taxi service will follow you home to make sure you make it back okay …
Unfortunately due to costs, Wet Lightning McQueen is not going to be raised “water,” but just a tampo decal … okay, customizers, what’s 3-dimensional, clear and will dry to look like water?

Is it just me, or are the seam details a lot cleaner……the doors, hoods, and trunks look like they could actually open.
Look at Nick……his hood looks like it could open!
I can probably make the “3-D” Wet McQueen, a lot of my previous clearcoat jobs looked like that anyway….
Donna Pitts looks like she is on the “Cash For Clunkers” lot. 😀
I need about 10 of her to recreate the rusty cars jump scene from Mater the Greater 😀
That’s funny – my son was playing with the Mater the Greater set the other night and “informed” me that we need all those rusty cars as well – we even had to count them in the picture from the Mater’s Tall Tales book and I think there was 34 cars in the pic!
My favorite is the Maserati. What color is that?
The color on a real Maserati is called Bianco Fuji.

minty green metallic paint on Dash is a new color for Cars.
Would that be the same metallic mint green paint on the 1964 Buick Skylark AND the 1963 Pontiac Tempest, Ms. Vito?

Is it just me, or are the eyes more appropriately sized now? I’ve always thought the eyes on the diecast characters were too small. The ones in these photos look larger and more true to the movie.

That is yet to be determined given that these cars are probably the last ones that were done by Martin. We will see what they look like without him at the helm. I am not going to hold my breath though….
I agree – how can it be the same without Martin? Let’s hope they don’t ruin what he has made… and that they bring him back for new sculpts!

Based on the pictures, I think LM looks WET! Am I missing something? If they had drop globs of clear coat on we wood have complained about the bumpy feel…

Can’t wait to see these. How expensive could it be to make LMs’ water drops look wet? Can’t you just drop bubbles of clear paint?
