Hello, that's a really nice piece you have there. It's a store display. You should consider yourself very lucky as those are supposed to be destroyed when removed from the shelves, so it's very rare. As far as value is concerned, it's hard to say since it's not an item that was for sale to the general public. The cars themselves aren't worth much because they're widely available, but the display case itself is where any value will be found. You could check eBay listings to see if anyone else has sold a Cars Disney Store Display and if there are any results that would be a good baseline for what it's worth. Whether you're keeping it as a collector piece or want to sell it I would recommend keeping all of the cars in the display case and not playing with any of the cars. You can purchase the cars individually if your son wants to play with them. That's just a personal opinion but it's really the only way for any value of the display to be maintained.
