hey you Cars fans. A question I have wondered all these days is this, why was the smaller variants of Fred created? Did someone at the factory muck up? I have not come upon any info to clarify my curiosity.Cool

Profiteering?   (far less material, same price)

And really, the original size was fine with me.  Someone needs to do some side-by-side screenshots and photos to see which one is more canon.

Met did do that when the small Fred was first released. In some screenshots the larger Fred was the correct size, but in some other screenshots the smaller Fred was the correct size. It all depends on what Cars Fred is around. Why Mattel decided to make the new version of Fred that small is a mystery.

thankyou fillmore1234, yes I see the comparison with three pack Richard Clayton Kensington and Marco Axelbender and the small Fred with the dropped bumper. I must focus on the first movie scenes again. thanx all for the comments. we got it tough down here in new zealand with initial movie promotion and that's about it. no case C, D; ebay or our local trademe are our alternative's for diehards (the horror). all good. best collecting to you all.Wink

I personally believe that the Large Fred is too large yet the Small Fred is too small. I'm not going to hold my breath for them to correct the corrected version though. With this many Freds, I don't really care.

Milo? Don't you mean Otis? I would say a Trunkov size would be perfect because Mater was definitely double his size. And isn't Otis a Trunkov anyway? He does say "I'll always be a Lemon."

Otis isn't a Trunkov, I'm sure there are many Lemons besides the five families that meet in Porto Corsa.

To me he looks American or possibly one of those early Japanese interpretations of what they thought Americans wanted to buy.

Otis looks like Fred, albeit pre-rust.

The first thing I thought when I saw Otis was he looked like Fred, only not rusty! If he has spent his whole life in Radiator Springs, I guess he wouldn't have a chance to rust too much.

Fred was way too big and he was heavy so costly in material, He was downsized too much though as most posts here already mention, as for Otis my opinion is hes a Lada Riva…later model with larger radiator grill, imo
