Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: The John Lasseter 50MM Thanks Display Case

As requested, a look back at the Disney The John Lasseter 50MM Thanks CARS Display Case

This handmade case and assortment was given as a thanks by Disney to the Mattel die cast team for their

hard work in making the line a monster hit. The case contains the first 21 die cast releases (they skipped

other color versions of Ramone, Tractor and Stanley as a statue). There’s also no Sarge – probably

assembled at the time of the recall so it was hard to scrap one up.

The "Thanks for 50,000,000 Million Sold Holiday Gift Box."

No word on how many were given out but Mattel's CARS team at the time numbered fewer than 10 people.

This was from an auction of Martin Arriola's - he was the lead designer of CARS in he early years of CARS.
