Back in February, reliable source @misterdocket dropped some incredibly exciting news for the die-cast community: Mattel was gearing up for an official collaboration between Disney Pixar’s Cars and Formula 1. It sounded like a brilliant move, echoing the successful crossover lines they previously did with NASCAR.

At the time, the only clue we had was a product listing spotted on Icecat. The listing teased an upcoming 3-pack featuring Lightning McQueen, Francesco Bernoulli and Alex Machino sporting special, never-before-seen decos. For months, all we could do was imagine what this crossover would actually look like.

Well, the wait is finally over! Today, we have our very first look at these fantastic die-casts and the official packaging, and they absolutely deliver.

Looking at the newly surfaced images, Lightning McQueen has received a total track-ready makeover. He’s been reimagined as an official F1 Track Vehicle—effectively serving as the Safety Car. The photos show him sporting a striking red finish, his signature lightning bolt, bold Formula 1 branding and the words "TRACK VEHICLE" proudly displayed on his side panels along.

Naturally, Francesco Bernoulli takes center stage in this set. As the premier open-wheel racer of the Cars universe, he looks absolutely stunning. His official Formula 1 detailing blends seamlessly with his iconic Italian tricolor paint job.

Joining him is his trusty pitty, Alex Machino, who has also been treated to a fresh F1-themed deco. The pack even includes pit lane accessories, complete with a red tool chest and a stack of black oil barrels.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense for Francesco to be the anchor of this F1 kit. Not only is he the only true Formula 1-style race car in the entire Cars character roster, but this collaboration also taps perfectly into the global appeal of F1 itself. While the NASCAR line was fantastic, NASCAR is deeply rooted in American motorsport. Formula 1, on the other hand, is a massive international phenomenon—a concept that was mirrored by the globetrotting World Grand Prix in Cars 2.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that this is just the start of the partnership and that Mattel has more F1 crossover packs coming down the pipeline!
