Very neat! I can't wait until Mattel begins to make 'fuzzy' Cars, too. "Oh my, it's going to be fuzzy! Although it's virtually the same car, let's double the price! We'll be rich!"

I think this fuzzy version was made because the 1:1 car was fuzzy at one point for the TV show.

This one is actually a Super Elite version. Super Elites sold for 299.99 and upwards of 399.99 ish and higher when released, so this one is actually cheaper.

Must have been some old stock laying around.

This does not look like a re-run:

First available at San Diego Comic-Con in 2007, the 1966 TV Batmobile™ is available in an insanely detailed flocked 1:18 scale version. This item was produced in a very limited quantity of no more than 525 pieces, and each is individually numbered.

There was a real Fuzzy Batmobile once:

http://www.batmobilehistory.co…..mobile.php

Claim: The TV Batmobiles were flocked for a time.

Status: True

Origin:

Much to the chagrin of many Batmobile fans, there was a time period when the Barris cars were covered with a fuzzy, velvet-like flocking known as "bat-fuzz." The material was added to all four cars after the show finished its run, and was rumored to have been used to hide stress cracks and other minor damage. In addition to the car show circuit, the fuzz-covered #1 also made appearances in the movie Galaxina and in the short-lived series Legends of the Superheroes. This time period was also marked by an exponential increase in the number of gadgets added to the Batmobile, many of which were done in a garish red to make the car more outlandish.
The fuzz was removed sometime in the mid-1980s, as were many of the extra gadgets, and the cars were repainted gloss black with new striping.

A very difficult car to photograph since there is not a hard surface to bounce the auto focus off of. Here is the shots below. Several different exposures show details.

This is NOT an Elite or Super Elite version. Just a 29.99 Toys R Us version "Dusted with Flocking" and maybe to cover up flaws in manufacturing. I am truly p-oed that these are this expensive.

I am glad I never paid more than what I did for one.

My next trip to Los Angeles I might stop and have the Clear display case autographed by George Barris.
