Yes we pay up to NZ$15.00 = US$10.05 at retail for Cars. The Cars with Blast Wall were NZ$18.00 when released here. I only bought LMcQ. It’s painful on-line too.

Yeah, I sent Metroxing a notice that they’d gone up at one of my Targets before Christmas. The last wave of 2021 was at the new price. But now all are increased. Wholesale through distributor hasn’t changed, though, so I think it is just Target trying to recoup higher shipping costs?

Found my first 2022 cars last night at Walmart. Yep same price but I am not very excited with the new card bubble shape concept. Like Met mentioned in an earlier post it is making the stacking almost impossible. Also the card is very thin so very difficult to get mint condition. They make my interest to collect on the down side. I am a card collector and I am questioning myself if I should stop that and only pick the never released ones… decision, decision…

It is hard when faced with changes like that. I am an opener so that is a non-issue in my case, however my difficulty lies in wanting to collect anything and everything that I find interesting.

I have been able to scale waaayyyy back and just tell myself no which has been a good process for me to go through. I have also set parameters about what I collect as well. Otherwise my default was to visit thrift stores multiple times a week and buy whatever I found that I thought was cool. Now I am faced with the reality of a junked up house and garage with things I didn’t need or want but is very difficult to part with anyway.

So, I am rambling somewhat here but this does help me process all of this as well. It is very painful to look at oneself and realize wow-this is not how I want to live but yet not really know how to change. I am making some progress but getting rid of all the excess is something I am not looking forward to as I find it unsettling to do so when I am not sure if I want/need it or not.

I just have to remember to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep on swimming. I hope you all are well and if anyone wants to weigh in on this or offer any advice I’d be glad to hear it.

      Thanks, RG

That new bubble packaging tells me Mattel is finally trying to kill this line.

  • Mapplesoft says:

I went to two Walmart’s this weekend, both had just gotten a 2022 case in, and neither had changed the price. This could be isolated to just Target (I hope).

  • Mack_me_Bucko says:

Stopped at one of my two Walmarts on the way home from work for some groceries, checked the Cars area — exactly seven of the NASCAR series racers, that’s all. Three were LMQ, then one each Aric Almirolling, Gogo Logano, Bubba Wheelhouse, and Danny Swervez.

  • Dickbaer says:

We pay 9-10 USD here in Germany.
Okay, 19% sales tax is included in that. But often also empty pegs. While Hotwheels pegs are always full with new stuff.
Lines as Nascar or Endurance Racers are not available here.

  • mikecee81 says:

Wow. I think at a $5 price point I may retire from collecting them.

    • quercy says:

It is more true with no new cars ahead… 25% increase is way much more that what I was expecting! I guess the NASCAR and other series will also jump to higher prices. I did not see any price change at Walmart yet but did not see any 2022 cars so will have to wait a bit more to see…

  • quercy says:

And unfortunately there is no new cars announced in the 2022 main line yet. More than 30… all repeat.

  • DisneyLover55 says:

“Expect More, Pay Less”. I’m sorry, did I read that right? It seems like quite the opposite. Maybe it was a typo, they meant to say, “Expect Less, Pay MORE”! At least it’s still lower than Kroger, singles there are going for 5.99. 🙁

  • Real Gone says:

That is way more cars than any of the three stores around here have had in quite awhile that I have seen.
