Mattel Disney Planes Fire & Rescue: Race to the Rescue Play Pack

Something new, an all-plastic 1:55 release (not diecast metal) in a box called Race to the Rescue Play Pack.

Looks cute.

The log actually seems like the best thing – it splits open and the flames protrude.

The plastic Maru hooks up the wagon but neither of the diecast releases of Maru work with this hitch & wagon.

The Maru is the same size as the diecast metal one.

The wagon can carry the retardant.

Compared to the all-metal DS Windlifter.

So nice but all plastic.

I love how the words “fire” and “flames” have quotation marks around them just to make it clear that this toy does not actually ignite. It does look like a fun set for kids, though.

$19.97 at walmart. Bought it thinking it was diecast mostly due to price… well its plastic. I’m returning it soon.

For $20 it should really be diecast… $10 for windlifter, $6 for Maru, which leaves $4 for the accessories. But $20 for all plastic? Talk about greedy.

VERY cool. I just want the accessories though. Any word on a price? $12 seems reasonable.

This windlifter is the same size as the mattel diecast windlifter.

On another note does anyone know how does this windlifter scale with the large talking mattel smokejumpers?

(MET: I think these are all 1:55 “CARS” scale … the talking smokejumpers are probably close to 1:18 scale?)

This is a pretty cool set – son is after a big windlifter for playtime like the look of this rather than the ds version! Worth it for the maru and trailer thats a nice touch!
