Mattel Disney PLANES: New Diecast Planes Preview – Fall 2013

More PLANES diecasts from Mattel are coming …

While Franz Fliegenhosen has been revealed, this one is interesting because it appears there is some lever mechanism on his roof so the wing can move? is it just minimal movement or can you actually remove it? The plastic ‘struts” are also thicker & with an extra support mechanism on the wing portion meaning you might be able to handle them by pulling them out of the door hole and putting them back in? It seems unlikely they would add all that structural support just for show …  Hard to say but interesting. Old photo of Franz here.

I’m going to guess this is the China entry in the race? Anyone know his/her name? (the markings are sponsors and such). “Enzo” says he’s called, “Sun Wing.”

I presume this the Sweden plane – colors of the Swedish flag … name?

This plane has a number so a contestant? From the first qualifying race so it’s not a country flag color? As I only saw the movie once, I do not recall. “Patrick55” says this is Polish racer “Jan Kowalski.”Green-Pink

So, if you have answers or names, leave them in the comments and I’ll update this post.

And of course, Rochelle is coming as a single.

I found 2 Echos and 2 Rochelles at my local Toys R Us today. Plenty of Dustys And El Chups not to mention Kmart K Day 10 cases of cars.

As for Franz, wouldn’t surprise me if it is just for show. Mattel not up to DS standard where FF’s wings fold back and convert into a trailer in car form.

  • Enzo says:

Chinese plane is call Sun Wing

    (MET: Thanks!)

  • Patrik55 says:

I think the number 15 plane is the Polish racer Jan Kowalski.

    (MET: Thanks!)

Rochelle is a single in Case D. (I’d been waiting for her! I’m patriotically obliged to collect Rochelle. Plus, she is super cute.) I got the case from an authorized reseller. Our pegs are plugged with Dusty, El Chubbo and Ripslinger….. just like everyone predicted they would be. Plus, they’re 8.99 to 9.99 CAD a single which doesn’t help sales either. Made of more plastic than diecast metal, I don’t think any parent is fooled into believing Planes are a premium diecast. Spinning propellers don’t make a deluxe product any more than wheels that roll (duh!) on a car.

Any updates on the Target 4 packs? Still haven’t seen the military set with Echo and Bravo, any more on the horizon?

(MET: Logically, when the DVD comes out in about a month …).

They really messed up Franz. Those wings are ugly. The older pic is a much nicer version. Hopefully this is just a plastic playset version or something.

The other ones look really cool, though. I still haven’t seen the movie, so i have no idea who they are.

I think Tsubasa is the name of the red and yellow Japanese/Chinese plane, although I could be wrong. Tsubasa is the name of one of the Planes in the movie.

    Maybe those are Super Chase?
