Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecast: 3-Packs Now Toys R Us Only

3-Packs are listed as Toys R Us only item now … will we still get the next 3-packs as last listed or will they be different?

It seems the 3-packs are scheduled for around Christmas time so in theory, all the deluxe (oversized) in each package will be out by then so the 3-packs may be repeats but unknown for certain as of yet.

The last 3 listed 3-packs …

A three-pack with Muggsy, Professor Z & Grem.

No idea if Professor Z or Grem are variants – so far, the only released 3-packs do not seem to contain variants but unknown going forward.

Funny Car Mater, Holley Shiftwell & Finn McMissile.

Taia Decotura, Lightning & Mater.

Still haven’t bought Sub-Finn. I only bought Holley with wings because it was $1.97

Your not missing anything with Sub Finn. Unless you build a hydro display there’s not much fun with a “car” that doesn’t actually roll.

Mattel is maybe selling TOYS but Target are selling COLLECTOR ITEMS. The employee said he could not pull out a new case from the backroom because they are collector items!!!! WHAT????? Even if there was only one DELUXE on the peg and I was buying it!!!! It was RED and I start to see RED when I talked to the manager about it. He said the same thing. After arguying a bit he went to the backroom and bring me back two loose items…. Finn Hydrofoild and Pinion Tanaka…. Where is the case???…. So my friends you are not ready to see new items on the shelves if eveyone is adapting that NEW POLICY about collector items!!!! Now that means they must sell about 59 McQueen and one Francesco before a new single hit the pegs…. Completely ridiculous!

One of my local Targets has done this for quite some time, it’s so lame. All of the other have stayed normal though, so I think its a store by store kind of thing.

    • John in Missouri says:

That is a Target that deserves to be “targeted” for item relocation. Simply buy out all the stock at other Targets, and then return EVERYTHING to this location. They will then be forced to clearance everything or they will just NEVER see new stock. But if they have 59 Finn McMissiles, they’ll never see anything new anyway, so you might as well turn them into a permanent exhibit at the museum.

Wow, Mattel keeps getting dumber! And I thought they bottomed out at the 7 pack…

  • Jack says:

Just not doing the buy 3 to get one new car. It’s such a shame Mattel plays this game all to often nowadays.
They should give us sets of mainly new cars or more new singles that we all love and buy and buy. It’s been a long time now that NYC hasn’t been getting any new cars. Especially 2 packs and deluxes.

  • DDD says:

All the cars in TRU’s Toon 3-packs were also available as singles, weren’t they?

    • John says:

These remind me most of the Cars 2 3-packs that Kohls sells, one Deluxe and two regular singles. None have been exclusive. (and they have not sold very well either)

  • Stig McQueen says:

Sigh; another 3-for-1 sale — buy 3 to get the one you need. Wonder how long it’ll be before we start finding repackaged 3-packs on the shelves with LMQ, Prof Z & Grem and regular Mater, Holley & Finn? It WILL happen…

  • cac1959 says:

Possibly a good thing if they’re available online… closest TRU is over 50 miles away so I don’t get to go often…

Wonder what TRU will be dropping to add these?

I hope that Mattel’s not making us buy the 3 pack to get the new Deluxe item… that may be the only way they can get rid of the Finn, Mater, and McQueen singles.

  • corinne says:

Well the only good thing is we will know where to find them. All TAKEFLIGHT CARS will be found at TRU. They are online now (says out of stock but sold in stores). HAPPY HUNTING !!!!

  • jestrjef says:

With the way the mega-pegs around here are clogged with Sub Finns, this may be the only way to find the new megas in the wild … sigh … bring on the Cars Take Flight Line!!

  • John in Missouri says:

Oh no, they didn’t cancel the one with Submarine Finn did they? Where on earth are we supposed to find that one now?
