Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecast: Radiator Springs Race 7-Pack in Australia

Thanks “Hostile Takeover Banker” for the early find and great pics – thanks!

There are 7-packs listed for Target US but the actual contents and the names were unknown but presumably this will arrive in the US in the Fall or Christmas time.

This is the first time Sally has been/will be available since 2010 – and then she was only available very briefly in the Walmart vertical 4-pack so for some new collectors, it’s nice to finally get Sally.

Hydraulic Radiator Springs Ramone is nice also … not as nice as paying a single price as a CHASE CAR but okay …

But Ferrari Fans Guido & Luigi were NOT in CARS 2 … Sure, I understand skirting a little on a diecast to save on a mold or even not including all of a particular character’s bolt on accessories but when you can’t get plastic accessories even remotely correct, that’s either laziness or incompetence.

For instance, I could see not painting the side panels of Luigi green to save on paint cost as it’s cheaper just to produce “one” kind of Luigi across the board – but a plastic lightning bolt and a US 95 stickers costs you exactly the same to make and glue on as a plastic Ferrari emblem with sticker to make and glue on. And making a “wig” red/orange costs EXACTLY the same as making the wig Green, White & Red and maybe even $.01 cents less as it’s less paint and less design.

Same with Luigi. A US flag sticker costs exactly the same to print as Italian flag stickers and little stickers on his visor – SAME COST to print and apply.

Laziness or incompetence?

It seems likely we will get this at Target US but until it arrives …

In addition to the nice pics, “Hostile Takeover Bank,” is paying real Aussie Dollars for this … @$69 …

If I find this I will pick it up. I’ll definatly want jacked up ramone and sally too because I gave some of my older cars to my brother a while ago.

  • Dunroamin says:

Don’t underestimate the popularity of this…all those kids who just saw Cars 1 becasue they are young and got trapped by the market cars 2 macihine will want Sally and the Ferrari Luigi-guido…I know i’m buying it just for the ramone..

Aside from the normal 7 pack complaints, I was actually hoping for the Lightning Fans Luigi and Guido. Seemed like an easy update. I guess that’ll never happen now 🙁

  • Bumper Save says:

I personally think this is a step in the right direction. A 7-pack with 4 new cars! Who woulda thunk…

I am disappointed in Luigi/Guido though. Is there any difference in their expressions from the first movie versions?

  • Tom says:

    Yawn against the machine…
What are the “swap & returners” going to replace Sally with?
Ferrari Fan L&G is just non-sense… Miguel and (possibly) Francesco are the only Ferrari WGP cars.
When/if this comes to the US it will be an easy pass.

  • John in Missouri says:

Has Sally’s mouth always looked like that?

    • Bumper Save says:

First movie Sally had a closed mouth. A variant indeed.

      • D J says:

No, it really is opened. I don’t see how no one thinks this could be fake. Either that or it’s just a prototype to see how the packaging would look. Sally’s color here looks like an ’06 version from Thailand. A little bit darker. Mattel would most likely use a plastic mouth, like sally w/ cone. I can’t take it serious with cars 1 Ferrari fans. Maybe it’s real, just something doesn’t seem right here…

        • Fillmore1234 says:

I have both a Desert (Thailand) and a Supercharged (China) Sally. The only differences between the two are the Carrera logos (Thailand is darker and China is brighter) and the eye color (Thailand is green and China is a more blue-green). This Sally is no different than the Supercharged (China) Sally. To new collectors, this may be a great set, but for old collectors like me, this is merely another Frank Clutchenson pack. Will wait for a sale on this one.

  • Jack says:

Funny that the 1 new variant you get in this 7 pack is a combination of two exsisting Ramones. Mattel knows no limits when it comes to annoying collectors.

  • sodabear says:

    This is absurd.

  • John says:

TRU around here still have lots of the Ferrari fan two packs. All the packages are terribly beat up, but they never go on sale. (As I recall they are $10 each.) The pair in the 7-pack may be NOS, Mattel may just be getting rid of unsold merchandise. Target’s buyers ought to insist on Cars 2 versions.

  • Kevin W says:

Hydraulic Radiator Springs Ramone is an EASY custom. Already have mine!

  • hostile takeover banker says:

That was one expensive car! Thanks for the post Met and as usual, I’d have to agree with the points being raised.

  • DDD says:

Now I know where all those dozens of TRU Ferrari fan Guidos and Luigis went…

  • bobbyjack says:

If the proper Luigi and Guido were in the box, I might be tempted to get this box. Having another Sally would be cool. But since I already have all the cars in the box, except for the hydraulic Radiator Springs Ramone, it will be an easy pass.

  • John in Missouri says:

I still can’t believe Chick Hicks wasn’t in Cars 2.
