Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecasts: Retail Roundup

Target has dropped the 2-packs/multi-packs to a more appropriate $7.99

And Toys R Us seems to have gotten the next shipment of the Finish Line Frenzy where only TRU gets the “Gold” McQueen while other retailers get the silver one.

And while these are Fisher-Price (part of Mattel), if you need a display for your CARS 2 CARS, with nothing from Mattel coming in the way of playsets …

Even comes with the bathroom scene (though not a very detailed version of it).

And of course, $25 Applebee cards …

Ok, not really – CARS balloons “helium quality.” At first, I thought it said MEDIUM QUALITY – I thought, finally, truth in packaging!

The Summer reset is a few weeks away so look for a few more CARS items … or a clearance. Let us know if you spot either.

Met, FYI Targets have reset here this week. Big empty space on shelves, for new 4 packs or something else coming?

I saw pictures of Toys R Us in Europe of the Grand Opening of Cars 2 toys.
Pegs and shelves totally full. Its just incredible how many were produced for world wide distribution.
    the prices were
    Singles were 5.99 Euros
    Deluxe were 12.99 euros
    launchers were 14.99 Euros

WOW… those prices are completely absurd. If those were the prices here I would not be collecting. What I don’t understand why are the prices so up there. Shouldn’t they be around the same price everywhere in the world? Just my thoughts…

What about if Mattel plan was the following; Let’s mass produce the first wave of CARS 2. Jack the price up a bit…. Let the movie out then CLEARANCE and CLEARANCE again to a low low price (since mass producing bring down the cost unit to a ridiculous price they won’t loose a penny for sure) They will sell them out in couple months who bring us to late fall… Perfect timing for coming Christmas. Now lots of people have several CARS 2, so potentailly several new collectors. The following wave of release will be at a lot lower emission rate with better quality (coincidence or part of the evil plan?) who is tickling the non-collectors to become collectors. Demand goes up for new released cars and rarity is created… Who wins??? Both, Mattel and customers/collectors…. Just my 2 cents.

The Walmarts I’ve seen with big Cars 2 sections up front are moving everything to make room for Back to School displays. I’ve seen a lot of stuff in carts being moved, and according to another poster there are individual store deals to be found like Stephenson at $7.50. Is any of this system-wide?

Those prices,I get dizzy just watching them, the amount I could have saved on Cars if I lived in the U.S. is getting absurd!
Prices for those beautifull 2 packs over here in Belgium are between 14 and 16 Euro’s.
    Go figure!
Like many others I also do not believe these cars will be as popular as the first ones, they have allready been on the pegs for A lot longer and are disappearing slowly, eventually they will all get sold off course but it will take A lot longer!!
And after seeing the movie being filled to the last shot with new or different cars,is Mattel going for every reconiseable car again like they tried with the first movie.
Count must be somewhere close to 500 or so?
Contest idea:who will be the first to view the movie second by second and name or describe every car in it,like the blu-ray finder from the first one!

A good bottle of Belgium Tripple from Belgium here is $16 😛

Always with the Beer, but it is a high price!!
However these beers also cost a lot over here, cause there is this little difference!!
This Beer is made in Belgium under special conditions only possible over here and takes a lot of craftmanship!!
Mattel cars are not made in the U.S. but in a slaveshop somewhere in China wheter the Cars are shipped to the U.S. or Europe does not change the price of having them made by slaves who get 2$ an hour!!
Europe is even closer to ship too,but double the price!!
I guess this is what they call global market??

Yes Rebecca I agree. Just way too many of certain characters at stores. Definitely think it’s a bad sign that Cars 2 cars have to be clearanced this early.
Between Mattels distribution that turned off so many Cars 1 collectors, deterring them from wanting to start over again and Cars 2 being not so much about racing, I fear the Cars 2 line will never catch on that well.
I suggest Disney and Pixar get busy making some new Toons and hopefully a new line of Racing shorts if they want to keep this line going.
How about some Lightning McQueen Piston cup racing shorts guys? Maybe even a series showing so much that was skipped between Cars 1 and 2. A Holiday TV special would be nice too. They had better do something. Unless they just don’t care.

I got my 2 packs at Target in CO Springs, CO for $6.99 not $7.99 🙂

Was at Wal-mart last night and they had a ton of the Cars 2 stuff clearanced. Only think I noticed, as I was in a rush and without my camera phone, was the singles of Finn, Lightening, Mater, and Francesco were marked down to $2.00/ea. They had tons of other stuff on the shelves as well, including 2-packs, shake-n-go cars, chairs, sleeping bag, etc etc… Hopefully this is a good sign?

    • Rebecca says:

My Walmart does not have them clearanced but they sure ordered way to much of the stuff. They will have to mark some of it down to get rid of it because no one is buying it that is forsure.

  • BBIG MIKE says:

I ALSO BOUGHT THE KOHLS 3 PACKS WITH THE MEGA SIZE AND 2 REGULAR CARS FOR $7.99 AT WALGREENS, TARGET IN MY AREA IS $4.39 FOR SINGLES AND $8.79 FOR 2 PACKS

  • Quickcar22 says:

I recently went to Walgreens and found 3-PACKS for the same price, $7.99!

We are going to a grand re-opening of a remodeled TRU this morning. I will post if we find anything cool.
