Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS 2: Target Tokyo Victory 7-Pack (Lewis UPDATE!)

Thanks “Nikko” for the nice pics …

The first announced assortment for the next Target 7-pack, “Tokyo Victory” didn’t make much sense as it supposedly only substituted Darrell Cartrip for Raoul Caroule but this makes a little more sense …

There is an exclusive CAR, a Fiat 500 “fan” of Francesco Bernoulli along with the presumably single version of Lewis Hamilton.

UPDATE – The Lewis Hamilton in the 7-pack is the EXACTLY the same as the launcher so if you’re not collecting the launchers, this Lewis will cover your base … and again, presuming the single version is not different. So far, the 7-packs have not contained any variants from the singles or 2-packs. (thanks, Nikko).

Hey, everybody – it’s Frank Clutechenson!

It looks like none of the “repeats” have different eye expressions or expressions different than the single/2-pack versions of LM, Francesco, Professor Z (with clear monocle), Grem and Darrell Cartrip. Hamilton will eventually be released as a single – Frank Clutechenson is the exclusive vehicle.

If you can find, this it’s $24.99 – normally $29.99 – not online yet but some of the 4-packs box sets are on sale this week ONLINE ONLY. just click on the graphic below.

  • I hope I can find this after seeing the movie! Frank looks great!

  • Eric says:

So I get to return my $13 launcher and pick this up (hopefully on sale) for $25 and get 2 “new” cars essentially. Not horrible. The daycare loves getting the extras, and the kids love playing with them there. I have no problems dropping the 25 smackers on this one. Besides, can you ever have enough Grems?

I hope the paint improves. Even on the $13 Lewis launcher, he has paint flaws all up and down the body. I don’t do the Hot Wheels thing, but I thought I would look at a few when I was sick of finding flaws in the $4 to $13 disney Cars… Doooood – they make $1 Cars in Malaysia that not only are mostly metal, but come with better paint jobs. I would love to see Mattel’s bottom line. Maybe if they put some effort into their assortments and packaging (anyone notice how susceptible to damage that rectangle in the bubble below the singles is?), they would sell more and could outsource their manufacturing to a country we don’t owe billions of dollars to … if there are any left. LMAO!

I have the 1st 7 pack and the sarge is different than the single, it has two lines and the single only has one. I have other different cars. The grem and acer have different eyes from the singles and the two pack of maters secret mission. The backs of #4, #5, #6 also have #16 as #15. I have two of the corrected ones, but have not seen the #6 corrected yet.

While this is nicer than the first 7 pack, Racing Rivals, I passed on that 7 pack and fully expect to pass on this one as well… I’ve already given 4 of the 7 Cars to my grandchildren to play with… I don’t think giving them the same 4 Cars to play with at my house as well as their house makes economic sense…

It depends on the price of the backdoor Car from Hong Kong…

  • sidewall74shine says:

Frank Clutchenson, not Clutechenson. You misspelled it. Anyway, I hate what Mattel is doing. Why, why. If this keeps up, they’ll just sit on huge clearance, people lose intreats, and Cars 2 line dead.

  • Tom says:

Not that bad a deal if you do not have the Lewis launcher as he would cost almost half the price of the 7-pack himself. It is too bad that they are putting the exclusives in these multi-packs, especially if your Cars budget is not that big. I saw a new Fiat 500 β€œTopolino” parked outside KM in Hagerstown yesterday. I definitely need to take care of my 2008 Sable, big cars look to be going away for good once the new Federal CAFE standards take effect. Right now it is 30.2 MPG, by 2016 it will be 39 MPG. Even the Explorer comes with a 4-banger now.

  • quercy says:

I may endup buying the back door loose single from Hong Kong for half the price of the set…

  • bobbyjack says:

This 7 pack would be a lot cooler if the orange Grem was purple, instead of Darrel Cartrip, it had David Hobbscap, and instead of Francesco, it had Rip Clutchgonski. I bet Target would sell 10 times as many. Then I would have no problem spending $30 for 4 new cars. No, it was bad enough spending $18 for a 4 pack with one new car, I will not spend $25 for one new car and 6 repeats. To top it all off, its like their making fun of you for buying this box set by advertising on the package 1 EXCLUSIVE VEHICLE! Well what are we supposed to do with the other 6?

    • Man-I-Fold says:

      I’m with you

      • bobbyjack says:

Forget it. I’ve now decided to only collect the crew chiefs and race fans if they either put them in a crew chief only box set or release them as singles. I do not want to have a second complete set of racers just to get the crew chiefs. I will buy a race fan only box set w/ Ronnie, Carla’s fan and Frank Clutchinson and whoever else they put out. Or maybe I will just wait for them to bring back Final Laps…

Who am I kidding? Collect them all…right?

    • quercy says:

The sad side of that marketing is you will end up having more poeple swapping the chief with a broken McQueen like I saw last week when someone replaced Nigel in a 4-pack…. Imagine how big is the tenmptation on a 7-pack with ONE exclusive??? sad, sad, sad and shame, shame , shame…

  • sidewall74shine says:

That does it! I’m only collecting racers with their chieves, and lemons. Damn it Mattel. I’d buy much more if it wasn’t for this.

  • Shawn says:

Alright! $25 for two cars we don’t already have! This is just so awesome! I expect to find this on the shelf right next to the bajillion Target Exclusive Speedway 9-packs.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

That’s a pretty pricy single eh guys?!?!?

Can almost afford to buy the real Fiat for that price… Although do they come with eyes in the 1:1 scale?

  • Stig McQueen says:

When are the 4-packs with Ronnie del Cooper and Carla’s fan supposed to be available on Target.com? I can’t find them, and when I click on the link from the original T5AD post, it simply says “out of stock” (which is what it’s said for the past month). Either the local Ebay scalper beat me to them all, or they’re not coming in until the first shipment of 4-packs is cleared out (which at the current rate could be Christmas). Kinda concerned that I’ll never see them “in the wild.”

    • collectormom says:

I found the Ronnie Del Cooper set at Target here (NY) last week, so they are out there. I was hoping they weren’t going to wait until the shelves cleared a little and thankfully they didn’t, they just piled them on top. This Target also has Cars in several sections so I looked in all of them and found Ronnie in 2 of the sections.

      • Man-I-Fold says:

Stig, they might also be hiding out in the stockroom at your Target. If they won’t search the stockroom for you, you might try the old stock-relocation trick: buy them all, return them to a different Target, then see what they put out on the shelves at your original store.

  • collectormom says:

Very nice, but where is the 10 Car box set from TRU??

    • jestrjef says:

      Great Question!! πŸ˜€

    • quercy says:

Mattel will let you buy the 7-pack first πŸ™‚ Very clever isn’t it? As long as they do it within 90 days and you keep you receipt… πŸ˜‰ Can we be more clever or they will be cleverierest (I know that word doesn’t exist) and release it on the 91st day ???

  • Celso From Miami says:

ItΒ΄s hard to spend 24.99 for one cars

  • LUCA says:

    I LOVE THESE 7 PACKS!!!!
    I love the 2-3-4-5-packs ,also πŸ™‚

  • jestrjef says:

Frank is cool!! The rest …… ugh …. sigh ….. gasp …. repeat.

  • John in Missouri says:

    Neat!
