Target Clearance Underway – Reset (and Groceries Coming)

In the NoCal area and apparently across the country, the launchers have been marked as clearance …

And Dunroamin says his stores have megasized clearanced at $4.98 … I would not worry too much about it – Target likes to clear out the shelves and would rather take a clearance markdown (I think clearance items are non-returnable?) for accounting and inventory purposes – sort of like a clean break … sometimes after the clearance, it returns the next week at regular price but it clears out old stock and refreshes the stores …

I submit as evidence a few aisles over …

The chances of Target not carrying this line … are beyond the mathematical capabilities in our galaxy (and I mean the Milky Way one).

In fact, the last SW 3 3/4″ figures will ship about 16 hours before the Sun goes supernova … and then on the last ship leaving Earth, the USS George Lucas will mostly be a warp speed cruiser selling Starwars merchandise with the last Earth appearance figures collectibles selling for a 50% premium as the last ones actually on a Earth peg before getting sucked in by the Sun …

I’ll be at CARS 3815 boutique to collect all bets – I hear the Apple CAR is coming in the 5th dimension hologram case. (It’s next to the Hello Kitty store and across from the In & Out Burger).

(NO PROMISES – but maybe they are clearing the shelves for NIGHT SKYLINE CARD launchers …).

Our Target looked like a mine field of clearance stickers, including the Cars and Star Wars items.

Every aisle seemed like it was 50% clearance items.

The good thing is that it means new items are on their way soon.

Most of the Mega Size items on markdown are the Octane Gain, Chick Hick and Grey Semis.

  • Stig McQueen says:

Went to our local Target last night to get a birtyhday present for the kid who’s birthday party my son is at right now. It’s a Star Wars party, so naturally we went straight to the Star Wars aisle: there was NOTHING there! Completely devoid of merchandise and pegs, nothing but the sign over the aisle. Ended up getting him a LEGO Darth Maul watch.

The CARS aisle was absolutely crammed with unwanted color-changers and lenticulars, and the odd Final Lap King and Chick hanging around here and there. Nothing really new, and no place to put them if any came in.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

    no clearance prices around here.

I didn’t find much of anything all over Indiana over the 4th of July weekend… I did get to open a Final Lap F case and got 2 sets of Jamie/Johnny/McQueen with Cone with unpulled plastic tabs… I did pick up a Tank Coat launcher at the $9.99 regular price as that is one of the more rare plastic tire racers right now… No current Chase Cars…

I’ll be making rounds in western Ohio tomorrow before picking my wife up at the airport… I don’t expect to see anything, but this Cars-a-holic can always dream… Bring out case G… Chase Fillmore… Chase McQueen with Rust-eze can… Gotta find them all in order to collect them all…

The Targets in Pierce County, Washington are dumping a lot of toys. Many of the markdowns are a result of Target’s refusal to use UPC coding. All the Targets are unloading series 5 & 6 of the Club Penguin PVC action figures, Hasbro Marvel Universe figures, etc which are ALL way behind the current wave of toys. Until Target management realizes customers are NOT going to buy duplicates of toys and switch to replenishment based on UPC’s there is no hope. Maybe after the reset the stores will see some fresh inventory. The toy gods can only hope!

  • Mara says:

They are clearing a lot out of toys. I was at the one in Riverbank, CA Thurs & they were putting out a lot of boxes, so I asked if they had any cars in there. They said no, it was all clearance items. It seemed like almost half of the toys were on clearance. They too have the launchers on clearance, but the Mega aren’t or if they are, they aren’t marked.

  • babychristianscars says:

is there a clutch aid or lil torquey on clearance I only need the car but would buy if the price is right?

also are regular launches on clearance

    • kdthomas says:

Plenty of Lil’ and Clutch at my Target this morning. Just the Lightyear Launcher versions.

    • kdthomas says:

Just got back from my nearest Target. I actually noticed the sale two days ago at a different Target by my nearest one is also marking down all Mega Size including the latest cardbacks to $4.98. I hadn’t been to my closest Big Lots in a while and I missed out again 🙁 They had all the haulers for $10 and the latest Mega Size for $6. They had all of them except for Frank, Bessie, and SUVs.

  • BrianD says:

I wish they would clearance the color changers and not bring them back… what a waste of space, development and money.

    • kdthomas says:

My son actually likes to play with these in the tub, but yeah, they went a big overboard on these. Should have stuck with 4 cars at most and then ended the line if it didn’t win over.

  • BMW says:

Tach O Mint rubber tires on ebay. link posted on CTT.

  • collectormom says:

I noticed the Mini Adventures Cars were on clearance too

  • Dunroamin says:

There are actually no pegs for SW figures in the 3 targets I’ve been to.
See the same markdowns in Massachusetts

  • John in Missouri says:

Mega Size are $4.54 here in mid-Missouri.

  • Indykjt says:

One could only hope that new stock is coming! I haven’t seent the reset here in Indy, yet, but the shelves are starting to look bare in toys. I don’t collect SW figures, but that was the first thing I noticed! (Other than the usual lack of Cars!)
