Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Kmart CARS Day 4 More Information

And not all of it is good … first, NascarBronco reports that …

Reports that some stores are starting at 9am tomorrow or “Whenever they open their doors”

(Illinois? Nebraska?)

So you might want to check the EDITGRID listing of Kmart Stores and call as they open just to verify the actual starting time.

(though as you’ll note the ad on the right says 11 AM).

The first internet ordering cases are arriving but the news was not good for “BMC,” her case assortment was …

8 Gasprin
6 Vitoline
2 LENTICULAR Race Official Tom
4 Fiber Fuel
1 Dale
3 LENTICULAR Sarge

No Sparemint, Sputter Stop, Transberry Juice, RPM 64, Lightning McQueen, or Ron Hover.

You can return Kmart.com orders to Kmart retail stores … or check the return policy here.

Information about the day is HERE.

Checklist is HERE.

Good luck and COMMENT BELOW if your store started at 11 AM, how it went and what you got. Feel free to send photos to me at metroxing (at) gmail.com

I arrived at my Kmart in Denver early, to find I was the only one there for the event. Even at 11 I was still the only one, so I opened my box and got the set I wanted. Employee gave me two posters but said they had to wait to give the store big poster away as it is part of the raffle at noon. So I waited until 11:30 and finally they closed up the table as no one else came to get Cars…so I got the “raffle” store poster plus they let me take the second and third place raffle which was two free cars so I got two more Dales.

I went back to the same store today Monday and the pegs were still full of all the racers, about 10 Dales left so I bought one more just to have, it was a good weekend for me and my collection.

Kmart Day 4 in So Cal was great. About 45 people at the Kmart I was at, but everyone was great and I think everyone got what they wanted. The one thing we missed out on was the poster for my son’s room. If anyone has an extra they’d be willing to part with please email me jason.erselius@gmail.com

  • Jack says:

I am leaning toward thinking they will make Apple again. Probably only in rubber tires- therefore keeping the plastic tire version exclusive to the SOTS set.
With only 12 Cars to go to complete the whole racer set, 6 new releases per day seems very likely.
What better way to create enthusiam for collectors than at the very end of the Cars 1 line to release some Cars collectors really want.
I think(could be wrong) they will make every Piston cup racer available before it’s all said and done. With another movie coming I just don’t see them releasing 35 of the 36 racers and risk alienating so many collectors by holding back 1 car that Mattel obviously already has the mold for and has already produced.
As for what I would like to see in the next 2 kmart day cases( besides the rest of the racers) is:
    A chase car
Any new unreleased Car. Non lenticular would be great but I have a feeling, at least for now, only Target and TRU exclusives are being released with fixed eyes. So anything new will do.

  • PirateDad says:

Did anyone get an EXTRA poster from the master case, Kmart Day 4, that they are willing to part with reasonably??

    Piratedad95@gmail.com

  • SarahOC says:

Sent my mom and dad to Mason City, IA – it was only them and one other party with three people. So they got what I needed, and they were only $1. I couldn’t believe it. With Kmart coupon, only $.80 per car.

I am vacationing in the Black Hills, SD so I went to Rapid City. Again, only me and another party with three people. I got two sets, but the cars were $3.69 each. I did use the Kmart coupon.

No tickets either place, just opened the boxes.

  • quercy says:

Day 4 in Little Rock, Arkansas. First time with my son (3 1/2) we were 4 adults, two kids. Get one set of 8 racers for me and one for my friend. An extra Transberry Juice for my boy and his ticket was good to get one of 3 availble poster. Everyone got what they want.. Happy ending.

  • kdthomas says:

Anyone else have problems using the 20% off coupon from BK? (Thanks Mariela!) The cashier said it was invalid even though it deducted the price when she scanned it. She tried convincing me it was only 20% off of Iron Man 2 toys. I told her to read the main print that says “20% off Entire Toys Purchase”… she called the manager who also tried denying the coupon. After not easily giving up he decided to charge me $2.95 per car which is the equivilant of using the coupon.

(MET: No probs here – not sure why they would argue if machine accepts it – I would just point out it’s clearly coded correctly otherwise the machine would not automatically re-calculate the purchases that are TOYS in your purchase, right? …).

  • Jeff says:

In Exton PA I was the only person there. Not sure how many cases they had but I got my two of each racer and they gave me a poster, then I left without seeing another person. I did not even see the usual suspects from my early morning Target runs.

  • Rich says:

Ok, I’ll try again. in BOLD.

Just wondering, MY DALE IS SIGNED ON THE BOTTOM, is this on all of them?

Thanks, not sure if it supposed to be that way.

    • NascarFan says:

      Thats ALL CAPITALS…..

      this is BOLD

yes all of the Dale Jrs I saw were signatures

      • Man-I-Fold says:

funny. Yeah, ours have the signature too. You can see it through the plastic without opening the package.
Here are some questions on and off topic: Did happy face, unique shape Dale pre-date the Speedway Of The South Nitroade version? Also, does the Lightning McQueen in the SOTS set have a determined face?

(MET: Yes, the SC Dale Jr. was the happy-go-lucky one. The MSOS Dale Jr. was angry Dale Jr. … McQueen has looked the same until the ROR switchover to the decal on the back spoiler and an occasional 2-piece release but otherwise …).

    • Rebecca says:

It is suppose to be that way I think. Mine is the same way.

  • PirateDad says:

Had a WONDERFUL day, thanks to Kmart…got all the cars we needed, thanks to Take5, got 20% off thanks to Chuki Mama, and got a HUGE headache thanks to the PirateKids!

  • nixmom says:

I wasn’t able to go due to a prior work commitment, so I had to send my son & husband. Fortunately my 4 yr old knew exactly what he was looking for & got everything on his wish list. Since there was only one other family there, he also got a new poster for his room. The event was run well, but I hope the poor turnout doesn’t impact future events at our store.

  • Indykjt says:

Had a great Kmart Day #4, as most have reported here! Got my two sets of racers, so an automatic donation of $2.40 for the Salazar Family Fund, courtesy of NascarFan’s Kmart Day #4 Challenge! Gonna round it up to $10, so we now stand at just under $700!!! Can we make it to $1000??? Come on TFAD… yes we can! Still more time to donate…

Go here to help out now:

    http://www.carscares.org/SALAZAR_FAMILY_2ORZ.php

Thanks again to NascarFan for coming up with the challenge, and to Met, Tizmanian, and the rest of the TFAD family… YOU are making a difference for the Salazar Family!

    • Eric says:

      IndyKit,

I just sent you an e-mail (I think) via the Cars Cares website. Let me know if we can work something out. Just in case that e-mail goes elsewhere and you have no idea what I am talking about, you can contact me at:

Very good day for my family also, only 4 of us went to Kmart Refugee Rd – Columbus Ohio, 2 master cases – 8 collectors, purchased 75 Racers (9 sets +) and 1 Sarge, only 22 cars left behind – but we were 4 cars short. Went to Kmart Brice Rd – Reynoldsburg Ohio, 3 master cases, 3 collectors, purchased 2 racers and Ron Hover and Race Official Tom, 100+ cars on table top and 2 full of singles master cases under the table.

Indykjt, we purchased 80 cars total, so $12.00 plus these are to be gifts when sets are complete and don’t know if they will or will not be sold after they are given away, but covering that at $1.00 per case, so $3.34 additional to cover if they are sold later. Rounding up to $25.00 to donate to Salazar Family Fund, should be visiting CarsCares today.

Thanks NascarFan for creating the “Challenge”, Thanks Met/Tiz/T5aD.com for bringing it to us, and Thanks to all who donated to the Salazar Family Fund or participate/d in the “Challenge”.

To Rick Salazar and Family; still sending prayers, still in our thoughts, still hoping things continue to improve – Take Care of yourselves!

Good event in Kmart in Van Nuys, CA. There was 16 cases 9 people. They didnt even bother with opening the last 4 cases. Got 2 sets of racers, one for my nephew and one for me. But i didnt see anybody get any lenticulars…hmmmmm hint hint mattel lol. Hopefully next event there would be a better selection but overall got everything i wanted so thanks Kmart for having plenty for us and the pegs.

  • bmc says:

Since the assortment in the case was wrong, I decided the take my 8 year old son to our first Kmart Cars Event. He had fun, he was the first to get a ticket and the second one drawn. 3 master cases (12-24pks), 12 people with tickets so everyone opened a new case. We were able to get the race cars we needed and a poster, too. One gentleman said he had about a hundred to get for friends on his list, so he took almost all the leftovers. Had a hard time trying to return the case, the manager could not get the register to accept the return even though the billing label says you can return a .com purchase to the store. My call to customer service while in the store will have the package picked up by UPS next week. Barbara, Kevin and John have been a great help, as usual!!!!!!!!! Thank you again. The 136 mile trip to Lufkin, Texas was not a problem either.

  • LASinCA says:

9 families at our store (Temple City, CA) with 28 cases. Asked us if it was okay to just give each family 2 cases and a poster. We were all cool with it, so that’s what happened. The remaining cases we all just could go through if we wanted. All the new Cars were taken either by those who got the cases or resellers who were there. Happy with what I walked out with.

  • bravo1616 says:

My son and I were the only ones at our Kmart, 4 cases (one master). The event did start at 11am. We only bought a few of the Dale Earnharts since we had all the other piston cup cars, which is all we are collecting now. We did find 2 errors on wheels, one Lightyear stamp that missed on a RPM and a double stamp on a Dale Earnhardt Jr. We also got the posters. The Kmart employees were real nice and had fun with us calling out the numbers even though we were the only ones there.

  • Micky says:

Asked a question, then found the answer so….never mind LOL

  • John in Missouri says:

Did anyone notice the cardboard pieces on top of each row in the cases? They used to have one big piece of cardboard, but there were now “slats” over each of the rows, which I think protects the cars a little better than the one big piece.

    • I-am-speed says:

I think that’s why we saw virtually zero bent card backs on the side edges in our store today. The single piece of cardboard pushed down on all of the protruding edges of the card backs, top and bottom, so those individual strips of cardboard “relieved” the pressure on those edges.

Out of 2 master cases that were opened, I don’t recall seeing ANY bend card backs come out of any of the individual cases.

I’ll give Mattel a thumbs-up for that change in packing! 🙂

    • I-am-speed says:

My wife and I were the only 2 people there until, right at 11, an older gentleman stopped by to see what was going on…….and he did take some Cars home with him.

So, 3 people in all in the first 45 minutes after it started.

No tickets were drawn, saved the roll for another time.

We did get 2 posters and the big “event” poster. 🙂

      • John in Missouri says:

I wonder if that older gentleman knew he had to pay for them! 🙂

You’ve got to think some of these walked out the door today: said in my best Mini voice, “Oh look Van, free Cars. Such nice people at Kmart!”

        • Mariela says:

Yes…exactly that!! People started grabbing Cars thinking they were free or there was a sale!! Then left all on the table again..

          • handoe213 says:

Thats funny because there was a bunch of people there getting tickets but once somebody asked if they were free and the kmart employee told them NO they gave there tickets back. we went from about 20 people to 9. lol

            • NascarFan says:

We had a guy last June with a shopping cart full that thought they were free, and took 4 people to get him stopped in the parking lot.

            • NascarFan says:

In the hopes of getting Kmart Day #6 going next year, (since the cars take awhile to produce) I would like to start a list of “Wanted Cars” on synthetic tires.

Yes I know Apple..(dont count on that being remade, but it doesn’t hurt to ask)

Kmart Day #4 in my opinion could have had a few more window posters put up. I have heard the errors and paint problems… maybe we should put together a list of what to fix.

Send me an email for each next Kmart Day #5 and #6 seperate like this

              Subject line:

              Kmart Day #5 should have:

              Kmart Day #6, should have:

              International Shipping

              Lightning McQueen (with synthetic tires)
              Mater (with synthetic tires)
              Sally (with synthetic tires)
              Doc (with synthetic tires)
Fabulous Hudson Hornet (with synthetic tires)

              etc, etc, etc

thanks, maybe they will notice, cant hurt right?

        • Mariela says:

Very well organized, few people and plenty of leftovers in SoCal (San Gabriel Valley) Like it!!

    • BMW says:

Yes, kudo’s to Mattel for that packaging improvement. No bent cards.
But don’t look too close at the cars themselves.

  • Shelby says:

Just myself and L8rM8r and his son at the Rochester, NH Kmart. There were at least 3 large cases that we saw – and there may have been more. We each got a poster and the large cardboard one went to his son! This is the first Kmart event that I have been to where I showed up only 15 minutes before, only bought one set of cars, and left within 20 minutes. Pretty uneventful.

    • L8rM8r says:

Yeah what she said, but both the poster and the event sign have made it onto the bedroom wall of my sons room. Good to see you again and was what it was. All the cases we opened up were correct.

  • ncstata8 says:

only 4 people in garner nc. Got what we needed and used my 20% off coupon

  • NC says:

Was one of 4 people at my K-mart. Got there at 11:50 and there was still lots left. I got Dale Jr, Gasprin, Vitoline, and Fiber Fuel.

  • Patrick says:

    KMART Indianapolis, IN

We got there at 9am and told my dad to come back around 10:30. So we left and came back around 10. I asked some lady at the customer service desk where they were going to hold the event (in the deli). So we (Me, dad, sister) were the first few there. Then we went to the toy dept. and sister got a KD3 Vinyl Toupee (and the 2nd Transberry Juice)Then another guy showed up and at 11am (they followed the rules) we selected. I was happy I got a full case. We bought 4 Juniors, 2 Transberry Juice, and one of everything else except the McQueen and the Sarge. Seeing how there were ONLY 4 PEOPLE, me, sister, and the other guy got poster (no need for the Tickets).Total: about $56.

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

The Lakewood,WA (Pierce County) K-Mart had four master cases and three attendees. Needless to say the three of us could have porked out on the Cars and each received a poster. The die cast vehicle aisle still had a good assortment from K-Mart 3. Except for hardcore collectors who visit this site, it can be fairly stated Cars are past their prime. These certainly aren’t the investment vehicle (pun intended) of Cars of olden days. I wouldn’t load up on these.

  • NascarFan says:

I will be scanning the 2010 Kmart Day #4 Poster tonight and send it to Dunroamin for splicing then have it available to download in a few days for those that didn’t get one that wants to view it.

If anyone finds the full color 8 x 11 flyers from Kmart Day #3 and this Kmart Day #4, I would like to borrow one of each to scan

  • John in Missouri says:

THE GOOD NEWS: I handed out extra Burger King coupons to the other 3 families in attendance. All were happily surprised to see the big 20% on it.

THE BAD NEWS: For the first time in Kmart Day history, we did not find a racer with unpainted eyes. Oh woe is me…

    • Man-I-Fold says:

do you mean that the white paint spills over onto the eye decals, or…? Mrs. Man-I-Fold came home with two Transberry Juice, and both have headlight decals that seem too low, like mouth height. It’s not suppose to be like this, is it?
Still, my son is VERY excited about his new Cars(Sparemint, Transberry and “Racin’ Tom”, and they’ve already gone on adventures: to the race, through a crash with the wooden maple-syrup truck, through the Little People house’s front door, etc. More adventures to come I’m sure.

  • slicepie says:

    Kmart Niagara Falls, NY:

Because we are only 10 minutes from Canada we had quite a few from across the border show up for the event. Hey Simon, it was nice meeting and chatting with you!

24 people for 16 cases, so not everybody got a fresh case, but everyone did get their 8 racers with plenty left over. Posters raffled off first, we got one – yay!

  • cac1959 says:

I went to the same Kmart in the small western Ohio town I’d gone to for KM2 and KM3… I couldn’t sleep – been up since 3 am, more excited about these events than I was at Christmas when I was young… Got there at 8:30 am… and waited and waited… At 11:00 they finally brought out the 3 master cartons… it was me and a father with his 3 year old son… Dad told his son he could buy only 2 Cars – he chose Ron Hover and RPM…

The employees finally just gave me the boxes after they’d opened them and I pulled out the 4 lenticulars… As I finished loading up my boxes into my shopping cart, 2 eBay/Flea Market people came and got 4 sets, thinking they’d sell them for $20.00 per Car (sure)… I left over 100 Cars there… I did get one poster as well as the store poster… The store poster is 30 x 30 and that’s going to take a huge frame, possibly a custom frame… but since I have the first 3 store posters in frames I have to get a frame for this one…

I had friends in 5 states ready to help me but texted them all to say I’d gotten everything I needed for those I’m helping… They all reported the same thing… many more Cars than people…

I hope everyone was able to get all that they wanted… come on, KM5!

    • cac1959 says:

I went to Hobby Lobby around 6 pm to look at frames… to get one for the 30″ x 30″ KM4 store poster that matches the frames for my KM1, KM2, and KM3 store posters will require a custom frame… frame, glass, and backing…

      Regular price: $200.00 plus tax…

Every other week or so they are 50% off: $100.00 plus tax…

      It’s going to have to wait… Sigh…

  • NascarFan says:

reminder for the TFAD CARS CARES Kmart Day #4 Challenge

15 cents a car for the Salazar Family Fund

  • Mike H says:

Went to the Addison St KMart in Chicago, IL…and was the only one there when 11am rolled around.

So, got to look through 5 different cases, and found the Dale Jr I was looking for.

My guess is they’ll have plenty of full sets for the next couple days.

Last K-day I attended there, I got there 15 min late, and noone showed up then either. No need for the raffle tickets.

At this point, I hope Kmart takes my comments into consideration and we get Tach or Gask-its in the next K-Day.

  • por356 says:

Met, thanks for the information leading up to KMart Day 4. It was great being able to walk in the store mentally prepared. It really added to the fun of the day.

  • por356 says:

I went to KMart 3688 in Henderson, KY. About 10 people showed up. The Store Manager did a great job. He followed the rules, was very personable, and was an excellent host. The other customers were very pleasant and I was able to get everything that I was looking for. The manager even raffled off chances to open some Hot Wheels cases.
I was very impressed and will be visiting the store again in the future.

  • Rebecca says:

Our Kmart in Colorado Springs, CO had 2 big boxes and 4 smaller boxes inside. They had quite a big turn out but we got everything we wanted for the 3rd time in a row and I have one happy 12 year old. Hopefully the next one has Apple or Gask-it and Faux because that is the only three we are missing. Lucky for us we already have Tac o Mint since I got him very cheap from someone in the beginning when he came out in the SOS set. It was a GREAT KMART DAY AGAIN 🙂

  • Man-I-Fold says:

Event went smoothly in Norridge, IL. Only 8 customers so they nixed the tickets and let everyone have their own case to pick through simultaneously. The cases appeared to have the correct character count, but I don’t know how many master cases there were (Mrs. Man-I-Fold attended in my place). The kid was very excited to find the cars he wanted AND won the raffle for the event poster (there was only 1 – for the entry way display board)! So we’re very happy, and my thanks to KMart for not messing this up. Forgot the Iron Man coupon though. Thanks Take Fivers for all of the really helpful tips! Today, I pledge to show my support for this truly awesome site by donating to the tip jar.

  • Vegas Vic says:

Easy going at the Richmond, MI store this morning. 1 man, my son, and myself. With this lame vehicle offering, I was shocked anyone else was there. Last time I was the only 1. Oh well, cars are cars!

  • TarheelBill says:

We attended the event at Statesville, NC. It went great, as usual, except only 18 in attendance compared to 35 last October. This store got 6 master cases like they usually do so if you’re in the area and didn’t make the event there’s plenty of everything left over. The repeats may have had something to do with the smaller crouds but I am glad Kmart decided to drop back and do them all with synthetic rubber tires. In the end that decision will make the Kmart racers collection much better. 🙂

  • traver says:

looks like kmart has there own research staff on this problem!

  • jestrjef says:

A good time was had by all in Orange City, Florida. 6 groups of people and 6 cases made for easy day. I was the last ticket drawn …. and they still had 6 cases left to open after that! We got everything we needed for us and our friends. My 3 year old son even won the raffle for the STORE POSTER!! Wooooo hooooo!! 😀

  • Rich says:

Just wondering, my Dale is signed on the bottom very small, is this on all of them?

Thanks, not sure if it supposed to be that way.

  • pw_cc_runner says:

I was the only person at the KMART in Plymouth, WI. I was more excited to walk out with 18 more boxes for storage than the 8 racers. It was sort of sad…

  • Brown Fury says:

    Report from Provo, UT:

20 cases (5 master cases), 3 groups of people. Thirteen cases left untouched (OK, I checked the assortment of two of them…), and a lot of leftovers from the cases that were opened. Obviously I got what I needed! (OK, that’s not entirely true, but they weren’t offering Gask-Its, Tach-O-Mint or Apple.)

    • christina says:

pretty much the same here in Orem, UT

There were 18 cases and 18 tickets in the raffle, so everyone got a case… I did find it pretty funny that some of the people that came back had no idea what was going on and thought they wond a FREE case of cars, haha. But in the end everyone ended up with the cars they needed and there were lots of Cars leftover! And it seemed like they had a lot more posters to giveaway than they did last year, and Zach was very excited to get one, he already has it up in his room next to his 2009 one 🙂

  • Rowald says:

This has to be the saddest kmart cars day ever. We got there at around 10:45am and nobody else was there. Got all 8 Piston Cup racers. I just hope I win that Cars day kmart announcement poster they were having a raffle for.

  • Rob says:

In Joliet, IL, this morning, they were all confused. They handed out the tickets at 11am, but weren’t going to do the cars till Noon. There were only 3 of us so about 11:15 they just decided (per manager) to do it. They had one box that had 4 smaller cases. All were the same. Got the 5 we needed plus my son wanted the new Junior. They only had two posters to give out and we didn’t win one, but one guy was cool enough to give it to my son. Thanks to him.

  • TrboTrex says:

Went this morning 12 cases, 9 people (5 families) no problem scoring all the cars we wanted plus two posters. Opened 2 cases both were correct. Only wanted 4 cars went home with 11… my son went crazy!! They auctioned off the store poster, some lady who just showed up not knowing what was going on got it as always.

  • Brandon says:

Everything was good for us. Only 7 people there, myself and my boy, 2 other dads with their boys, and one other gentleman who I’ve spoken to before. There were 16 cases between all of us so everyone got what they wanted and there were plenty left over. All the cases were correct. And everyone got a poster.

  • doch18 says:

In the St. Louis Metro Area (Illinois side), nobody seemed to care. My four year old and I arrived at 10:15, and were the only ones until about 10:55. Three total people, four master cases=no problem. The other guy bought an entire case, we just bought eight total, so they are plenty left.

    • moe says:

Was this in Collinsville as I think it was. I walked in at 10:55 and there was guy and about a 4 year old and I bought a case. well 2 cases of just racers. I also got the store event poster as the nice manager went and searched 3 places and low and behold he came out with the store poster.

  • pwschuh says:

Same story at mine as with most of you. About 16 cases available. Only three families showed up. She never even bothered with the tickets. At 11:00 she just said “OK, here you go” and we all walked up and grabbed a case. Since there were only two new race cars in this case (Vitoline and Fiber Fuel) that’s all I got, plus the variant Dale Jr. Hope all future events are like this but with a better selection of new CARS.

  • blueyedgurl8907 says:

just got back and got my set of 8 racecars. there were only 4 people there and plenty of extra cases. only spent maybe 10 minutes in the store, it was nice. wish the regular lenticular cars in the cases would have been new cars though that hadn’t been seen anywhere else or maybe chases that are hard to find..

  • Stig McQueen says:

After seeing Met’s post about some stores starting at opening-time, Stig Jr. and I headed out to our local Kmart and got there at about 10:30. We needn’t have rushed; apparently we were the only ones interested in the entire area! We wore our Lightning McQueen shirts, and the staffer running the show told us to come on over and start going through the cases.

We scored a Transberry Juice, Fiber Fuel and Dale Jr.

I didn’t count the contents, but there was at least one of all of the rubber-tire cars in each, plus googly Ron Hover, Sarge & Tom.

But it was what was on the toy-aisle pegs that was more interesting! It looked like our store must’ve put out all of the leftover Kmart exclusive cars from previous events. So we also left with Vinyl Toupee, Rev ‘n’ Go, Trunk Fresh, Octane Gain and Re-Volting, which were missing from our collection. And it wasn’t like there was only one of the “leftovers,” either; there were multiples of most!

On a whim, we then went to the Kmart in the next town to see what they might have on the pegs. It looked like there was zero interest in the event there as well (despite the hue poster inside the door), and the cases were all identical to those at the first store. The CARS aisle was pretty much the same, too, with multiple prior-year exclusives just hanging out together! There wasn’t anything there that we hadn’t already picked up, though.

    All-in-all, a pretty productive morning!

  • Micky says:

Just got back. This time they had a conference table with the Cars neatly placed on it. Lots of Cars plus several other boxes unopened under the table. They didn’t call random numbers. They did first come first serve by the numbers so whoever got the first number went first and down the line. I was 5th the husband was 6th. I got a poster and 2 of each racer except for Dale Jr. Got 3 of him. I just opened Dale up and it has c 2007 and Dale’s signature on the bottom. Also, there must have been some cases that didn’t have the correct assortment because I saw several blinky Sarge’s on the table.

    • Micky says:

Oh….I used the 20% off coupon. Saved quite a bit.

Looking at the other posts, I just realized that Sarge was included in the case. I didn’t pay attention to the other 4 non racers when making my list to purchase since I was only interested in the racers 🙂

  • louie the plumber says:

I just got back from my local Kmart in the east part of Birmingham, AL which is 5 minutes from my house. I got there about 5 minutes before 11. There was just one old man, who I believe was a scalper, looking through the boxes. He had about 10 of each car lined up on a table for himself, and there still were many unopened boxes he wasn’t even concerned about. There was no need for drawing numbers there, as we were the only 2 people at the ‘event’. I got the 5 race cars I needed and a 2010 poster, and was back home by 11:15.

  • Dr. Mater says:

In Salem, NH, we arrived at 11:15, only a couple of customers there, plus 3-4 employees. Cases were all opened and missing all the Dale Jr’s. Employee said there were only two Jr’s out of all the cases they had and conveniently a kmart employee was holding the last one to buy for herself. The cases that were not picked through seemed to be missing only the Dale Jr’s. It was a disappointment. My guess is a employee must have grabbed them and put them aside.

    • BMW says:

The rules Dev sent out, said that the Kmart employees are supposed to open the cases in front of the collectors, Integrity first!

      • Dr. Mater says:

We arrived there late, so not sure what happened. I expected her to say someone bought them all, but she said there were only two found. Something seemed off, but I am not sure since we were late.

    • Route66 says:

No, the employee did not buy it for herself. I called her early this morning to explain that I have a 6 year old son with autism who gets very agitated when he has to be among crowds. I told her that there was only one car that he wanted and he has been asking for it since before Christmas. I have been unable to locate it anywhere. I couldn’t go to the store by myself because I had no one to watch my son. She informed me that she could not open the boxes prior to the event. She told me she would ask the customers, prior to opening the boxes, if she could hold aside Dale, Jr. for a boy who could not be physically there. She gave me no promises that she would actually get it.

She called me at 11:30 to tell me that there were only two Dale Jr’s available and the customers agreed to put one aside for my son. I quickly told my son the good news, and we drove to kmart to get it. Evidently another customer donated a poster to my son as well. My son met the employee, and his eyes lit up when he saw the car. He also lit up when he saw the poster (many thanks to whoever donated it).

So PLEASE don’t be cynical and blame an employee that went out of her way to make my special needs 6 year old happy. I wish there were more people in the world like her.

      • Dr. Mater says:

I am glad your son got his Dale Jr. I obviously didn’t know this. I do find it weird that there were only two Dale Jr’s out of all the cases they had there when no one else has reported this. I guess they must of gotten some weird cases, so my mistake.

      • Sloths14 says:

First time I was actually able to go to the event. Arrived with my son, appropriately decked out in his LMQ shirt and hat promptly at 11AM in Salem NH. I can confirm that the employees did make the announcement about Route 66’s child, very glad that this was of benefit to someone on the spectrum.

The employees did a good job informing us of the rules-call a number, open case, pick five, repeat. Don’t quite understand the no picking for your child bit, but I wasn’t worried. Only four posters raffled off, didn’t get one. Please more posters next time!

Luckily, my son and I were the first numbers called! We only needed four-so we had the first case opened and were able to pick out Transberry Juice, Sputter Stop, Fiber Fuel and Spare O’ Mint. My son was thrilled esp. to get Spare O Mint, since he got the Crew Chief Easter 2009, he has wanted him, and Dad refuses to buy anymore Launchers. So, I guess I left six cars on the table (so to speak) and I am glad the Dale was put to good use.

Great day, thanks to KMart for having this event.

      • Megan says:

That was so nice of the employees and customers in that store. My son who is 4 is also autistic, and right now his favorite flavor of the week is what I call old Dinoco Lightning McQueen–no lenticular eyes, regular wheels, no bling, or he won’t play w/it. To say that it’s a nightmare when he can’t find it is an understatement. There were many more cases at our local KMart today than people, so I got three extras of the Dale car for goody bags for my son’s Car’s birthday party in 2 weeks. I have plenty of extras, so if you need a backup Dale for your son, Route 66, let me know and I’ll be happy to mail it to you, free of charge. mvharbath@zoominternet.net Take care, Megan

        • Route66 says:

THANK YOU for your very kind offer. You are very thoughtful. I think my son will be all set with just one dale, jr. I can sympathize with you regarding your son’s dinaco mcqueen. When my son was 4, his obsession was WALL-E. He carried it everywhere. I explain it like: The reaction of child with autism losing a favorite toy is compared to a typical child losing a toy x 1,000. I learned (when possiblbe) to not allow him to take it out of the house. That way if it went missing, it just meant to look under the cushions or under the sofa, etc. As he got a little older (now 6), he realizes a little more that if he loses it out of the house, it’s gone possibly forever. I “wish” you similar success with your son.

  • Rich says:

Done! Got all of mine! 2 Sets.

My store had 3 people and that’s it!

There are full master cases left just sitting there.

Oh well, but the one thing I am already disapointed in is the Dale Jr.
car. They should have just done the original body with rubber tires.
There they go again cutting corners.
Now I’m thinking has anyone tried pulling the plastic tires off an
original Dale and putting some rubber on him?

    Rich

  • Dunroamin says:

    Another successful KMART day.

    Yeah!

    4 sets
    2 posters

Time to start opening these babies!

  • Uncle Skip says:

    Nice and easy…

    3 people

    3 master cases

In and out in in less than 20 minutes…

    🙂

  • driveshaft says:

Hello Fellow Take Fivers! I was the only one to show up today, 4 master cartons, 16 cases, correct case assortment. Got the cars I wanted and two posters. The 20% off coupon worked great! If anyone needs some cars email me at Bhead@earthlink.net. There will be plenty here in Central Florida for a while! I wonder where everyone was? Previous Kmart Collector Cars days had 5 to 10 people?

    • Ace Diamondrunner says:

I think there may be two factors…one is that with summer, people are away or on vacation. The other is that kids (like my son) have outgrown them/moved onto other toys (especially with a little movie called Toy Story 3).

  • rockbottom says:

I was one of 3 people at Airport Kmart in Pensacola Cars event. 2 Master cases. Only picked up one of each, could have taken all I wanted. Did score a poster like last year. Now time to sit back and watch Noles win a trip trip Omaha!

    Go Noles!!

  • NascarFan says:

1 Kmart store in the Naperville, Illinois had 3 master cases, 1 attendee, several posters

  • BrianD says:

no one showed up at my Jacksonville store. It was free pickin. Four boxes of cars, the with two cases per box? plenty to go around. started at 11:00 am

  • Michad says:

I’m one of two or three in Abilene

    • old hippie says:

Hey Michad. Abilene Texas? Were you there with your young son?

      • Michad says:

        That’s was me and Cameron.

He promised not to bite the wheels, made it about 15 minutes. 🙂

        • old hippie says:

LOL. Made it that long. They have plenty left if you need replacements.
I had to take 8 CARS back today for exchange; because of paint chips/scrapes. I didn’t look at them close enough yesterday.
I got the big 30X30 store sign and a couple of posters also.
Nobody else showed up after you left.

  • AidensMom624 says:

Our store started at 11am – had our list of the 8 cars we needed, got ’em all out of 1 case.
There were 7 people there, from 4 families – and there were 16 cases. We got numbers 1, 3 & 4 – were allowed 3 cases to pick from for 5 minutes — LoL — like that mattered. Like I said, we grabbed 1 case, grabbed our 8 cars and were outta there. I imagine they’ll have MANY Kmart day 4 cars in the aisle for many weeks !
Hope everyone else’s was as easy :o)

  • NascarFan says:

Here at ours, so far only 4 people,

    1 hour to go

  • BMW says:

Just heard from a friend who is in Lake Charles. They know nothing about the event. Called the manager who is not on the property. No cases, no posters, the BK coupons do not scan. Yikes.

  • Jack says:

Just got finished buying my Kmart cars. My wife went to one and I went to another. Tally-
    2 Stores
    5 people combined
4 master cartons at each store= 16 cases
    Plenty of posters available

Bottom line – you could get as many as you wanted- there are plenty left over. Interest at an all time low.
Coupons saved a nice amount of cash.
Let’s hope there is a more sought after Cars for Kmart day 5- there will still probably be plenty of this Kmart days Cars available until then.

  • lost says:

just got back from kmart they never handed out tickets. and didn’t start till 11:15. The wife and I were the only 2 people there. and the pegs still have a handful of the last cars day cars on them.

  • Eric says:

Well, I think the 3 TFAD folks from OR will all be at the same K-Mart today to meet and kick some K-Mart staff a** if they start the event before 11. You don’t want to tick off 6 anxious kids and their parents. It’s bad enough we have to go to your dirty store in the first place! 🙂 Fortunately, the other 3 events have gone off without a hitch at this location, so I am actually expecting good things (unless the 3 TFAD members have to battle for Cars)!

  • Damian says:

I understand some in Ohio put theirs out at 8 to 9am (local time)

  • Ace Diamondrunner says:

My Kmart didn’t even know they were doin the event, although they’ve done all the others. Only one case…I’m a bit worried…no other families here yet, but they usually roll in 5 mins befor the start.

    • John in Missouri says:

      Only one Master Carton? Egads!

    • John in Missouri says:

Do you know what that store has had in the past?

      • Ace Diamondrunner says:

Yeah…one case for the first two events, and two cases for the last event. They were overstocked at the last event, there are still two leak less cars here 🙂

I was hoping with the switch from six to four boxes in a master case that they would have still bought two, but that looks not to be the case.

Now the guy here is taking the whole case away…come back, Shane!

        • Ace Diamondrunner says:

And the case is back…what, Kmart doesn’t trust me? >;)

        • NascarFan says:

          I think you jinxed yourself….

Shane dies at the end of the movie

        • John in Missouri says:

Maybe he’s going to the back room to clone the Master Carton for you. 🙂

I’m extremely lucky then, because my local Kmart Days has had 24 cases — 4 Master Cartons for both #1 and #2, and then 6 Master Cartons for #3. I’m hoping for the same today.

          1 hour, 6 minutes to go here…

        • Ace Diamondrunner says:

10:57….I’m still the only one here. I know the employee here wants to just say, here have at it. But he can’t. Very honest employees at my Kmart 🙂

          • John in Missouri says:

So cool! At Kmart Day #1, there were 4 Master Cartons and 4 Families waiting, but the guy still drew tickets. I appreciated the honesty though.

          • John in Missouri says:

What if they threw an event and no one came?

          • Ace Diamondrunner says:

Well, one mom and son came right at 11…son took 3 Dale Jrs and left. I told him to take one of the two posters too 🙂

Meanwhile I grabbed the only box in the case that wasn’t opened earlier by kmart. Good thing I did because the cars in the other three boxes had price tags stuck to them ($3.69).

I also got a poster and the large cardboard sign…score 🙂

I gotta say, it was a good Cars day! Thanks Kmart, Mattel, Pixar, and of course TFAD!

        • NascarFan says:

Kmart Day #4 West Valley, Utah:

5 Master Cases, 20 individual cases, 9 people (pics coming)

8 2010 Full sized posters, one store Display poster (another lady won)

Got everything we needed for the overseas people that wanted individual cars, and Kmart.com replaced BOTH of two accidentally deleted orders from Pre sale Day.

All in all a great Kmart Day #4

All 20 cases were CORRECT items and counts (different production dates of 0970 and 0910

Thanks Dev, and Gerald, Amanda, Laurel, and Kmart in general

  • carscrazydd says:

Called my Kmart stores (central Ohio) for clarification. They do start handing out tickets at 9:00 if you ask, but the event starts at 11:00.

  • John in Missouri says:

BMC, I would be happy to fill some holes in your collection — just email me at JohnJurgovan @ aol.com

I stopped by my Kmart first thing this morning, and asked a Manager-looking type about the event. He said it starts at 11:00am, showed me where they’d be doing it, and told me they’d be raffling off the thick cardboard display sign at Noon. I just hope all the other collectors are gone by then! 🙂

  • Rebecca says:

Wow that sucks about BMC case not containing what it should of. Our Kmart has always started at 11am so hopefully they do the same this time. If not I will drive to the other Kmart and hope for the best. They have always seemed to have several of left overs in the past. Hopefully this time it is no different. 🙂

  • NascarFan says:

Honestly I would like to see what store # and or location and what time they started if they DID NOT start at 11:00 am

One of ours in the Salt Lake City area says:

    “Oh its at 10:00 am…”

    “Do you have a poster”?

    “Yes”

“what time does it say on the poster”?

    “11:00 am”

“So are you starting at 10:00 AM or 11:00 am”?

“Oh I guess its 11:00 am then”

  • NascarFan says:

Yea……. crossing my fingers this is isolated case contents problem

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

Mattel really has a way of making sure people hate them. Bad luck BMC, to put it politely.

  • scott says:

i guess those who pre ordered again did not learn from last time especially when there are a couple useless cars in the case . it is too easy to get them in the store good luck dont worry you wont need it

    • BMW says:

Its not easy to get them in a store, when there are no Kmarts within 100 miles of where I live! Texas is a state with few Kmarts. Most closed long ago. So we depend on the case sales through KMart.com/
Luckily my case came yesterday and its fine.

      Good luck everyone.

  • L8rM8r says:

Oh no not again. I called the Kmart I was going to go to and they said they were going to start a 11 AM so I should be good to go there. I did call another one and they said that they had not received their cars yet so I would definitely call ahead to make sure you will not miss out.

I will report back case contents after the event good luck everyone.

  • Jinzo says:

Wonder what I’m I doing up this late when I have to wake up early.. hmn…. 🙁

  • Kevin W says:

    And so it begins…
