Looking at the photo above of the Easter Bunny, I have to wonder if that’s Met under there. You know, kind of like The Beatles on the cover of “Magical Mystery Tour”.
The collecting aspect of this line is done. Kmart day 3 was lame, lenticulars are even more lame, and anything Cars Toons is worthless. Letting the kids play with all the new stuff is great but none of this stuff is gonna be worth diddly squat. BRING ON CARS 2!!!!
As a collector I would have liked to seen new cars or even new Easter paint jobs like the Christmas cars will have, but as a parent I’m not upset by this line up. My son will be thrilled to get four eggs with CARS in them, even though we already have the CARS inside. The question I have is who is the bigger consumer of die cast CARS? Is it the collector or is it all the kids out there? In the past two years that I’ve been collecting, there’s always kids looking at CARS, but I’ve only come across one other adult collector in the store.(Not counting Kmart CARS days) If children are the bigger consumer of die cast CARS, isn’t it a little unrealistic to think Mattel would cater to adults who collect their toys?

Got to blow out that excess inventory somehow! Of course, you can take last years’ eggs and pop a relatively new casting into it and hide it!
it could be worse folks… imagine we don’t know the cars inside the eggs and Mattel makes every 100th egg an I-car, the rest are all Lenticular Mc Queen but.
That surely would cause a mass of repacked returns!

Hey with the brilliant non-lenticular line up that Mattel has for 2010, there has to be some stinkers. It can’t be all sunshine and roses. Mattel with have to throw in some thunderclouds and thorns to play with our emotions and keep us on our toes. But, in the end, the loser is Mattel, because many of us will NOT be collecting them all.

The Fillmore’s Festival minis were by far the best Easter Cars to date.

Totally agree, ho hum and what’s the point? Talk about a cheap marketing attempt. Who’s the genius that thought up the idea: hey let’s put cars in the eggs that most who buy this line have already? I guess let’s put in some new cars and sell many thousands that will make the collectors happy wouldn’t be good, why? Maybe they just had a few thousand extra of these cars and decided to lay an egg with the Easter eggs literally and figuratively. Job not well done Mattel. Keep your eggs, I will put some new Cars in John’s basket myself.

I bought 3 sets of the 2009 Easter Eggs… gave them to my grandchildren… I’ll pass on this 2010 announced set. Yolk’s on Mattel.
