Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast: The Final Lap and Diecast CARS 2010

So, a couple questions:

A) Will all the CARS from World of CARS or Race O Rama single cards series be re-released in the Final Lap collection.

Short answer – NO.

Final lap Logo

Most of that is logistical.

There are some 40 CARS scheduled in the Final Lap series over the next year. We have 3 released already (Blowing Bubbles Mater, Polly Puddlejumper & Skip Ricter) leaving us 37 or about on average 3 new CARS every month or about 12 case assortments. While there might be 1 or 2 more shipments more than 12, it should be around that number. Since there are going to about 12+ “new” CARS in each case, that is only going to leave on average 3-4 “old” re-releases so that means at most, only about 45 (give or take) of the 100 or so CARS will be left that are possible re-releases on Final Lap cards … and you can bet that will pretty much include all-most of the McQueen, Mater, Doc and probably Ramones versions … of course, keep in mind there are 3-packs, 4-packs, Movie Moments, box sets, etc, etc … so CARS that are appearing in one of those sets are less likely to return as a single – for instance, Charlie Checker will probably only be available in the 3-pack or maybe another box set … and clearly, others like Trunk Fresh Pitty are unlikely to grace a singles card again … or even someone like Roman Dunes/No Stall Crew Chief who will most likely only appear with Pitty’s in a box set.

So, while there are few CARS that are ‘retired,’ (outside of error corrections), there are definitely dozens of CARS that in effect are ‘retired’ from the singles cards program but will be available in many other configurations …

Question B is will all the CARS of CARS, the movie be out before CARS2 arrives at the theaters?

In a word, yes – it is their INTENTION. In the case of the cars of CARS, with the 40 in the Final Lap plus other configurations (like Sarge’s Boot Camp), we should have all the CARS listed in the Blu Ray Finder game plus most of the CARS listed with names out by early 2011.

(the movie opens June 2011 so CARS2 CARS will be out in March-April of 2011 if not sooner).

Work has started on the RV’s – there are probably names for 10-12 of them – will they all get a release? ???

The haulers are a iffy as clearly the pace is too slow to get out the remaining 30+ haulers (including non-Piston cup haulers) in 15-16 months left? But they could pick up the pace at any time as it’s all just colored plastic and stickers.

All the Pixar parody CARS will be out with the release of the Clown CAR pack

So, we’ll keep track as 2010 progresses but we’re on our way to closing the CARS Barn Door with over 300+ CARS … 🙂

In Sacramento California, I found a Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen #2 Final Lap Collection car. It was the only one there. The card is very different, and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I am new to the blog, but not new to collecting these cars.

Thought I would just drop a hint out there. On the back it says there are 40 to collect some being: Skip Ricter, Polly Puddlejumper, Blowing Bubbles Mater, Antonio Veloce Eccellente, Muddy Lightning McQueen, Costanzo Della Corsa, Pit Crew Member Sarge, One Eye Mater, Donna Pits, Nick Stickers, Wet Lightning McQueen, Vern, Race Damaged Mood Springs, and Jay Limo.

I hope this helps out there. I know that for me, I like to know what I am looking for.

    Happy Hunting.

Okay, getting back in the game. I have a question though. My son and I (well mostly I) am collecting the WOC cardbacks with the numbered cards. The wall has a conspicuous open spot at #30. Any ideas out there on which character ought to be there and possibly where I could get it?

  • Matt says:

If Mattel really concentrated on THIS line, then they would have no problem getting out all of the cars prior to 2011. I think they are really spreading themselves thin with all the different spin-off’s at this point. As I always remind my kids ….. “FOCUS”

Oh well, still sticking to my guns on not buying the toons although it was hard to leave Lug and Nut Pitty’s on the shelf yesterday at TRU as well as Nurse GTO…. will power will prevail.

    • Micky says:

My TRU had a new shipment of the MTT in yesterday. It was hard not to buy any but I’m with you, stay focused. Although I did get suckered into the Storytellers line last year. Now I have to have Flo’s Showgirl friends and probably Mater’s cousins, oh and the big bad one Bubba (I think that’s his name). Oh well one can only resist so much…as the Borg once said, resistance is futile.

      • Mike H says:

I’m still trying to hold aganst my guns:

        – No Haulers
        – No Cars Toons
        – No Mega-size Semis
        – No Storytellers

I may possibly ‘crack’ under the following though:

        Tokyo Mater

I love the Japanese designs in that one.

          Dudes!

The spin-offs of these cars-characters are soooo awesome!

The look great and well they are AWESOME!!!!

          Fall into temptation…. Fall HARD!!!

It will be the best thing you ever did for yourself…

          I am a Cars-o-holic and I love it!

        • Ryan says:

Why the other Mega Size but not the Semis?
I’m pretty much do what you’re doing, except that I get all the Mega Sizes, even the Semis. And whatever characters AREN’T released as Semis, but ARE released as Haulers, I will pick up the Hauler for, just to have that character….like Jerry Recycled Batteries, etc. And since I don’t know if Nitroade Hauler will also be out as a Mega Size Semi, I had to grab the hauler.

  • SweetBug says:

Darn it… I’m still bummed that the clown cars didnt’ actually resemble(paint wise) the bugs from a Bugs Life. But of course I’m gonna shut my mouth and open up my already wounded bank account for those bad boys!

And as for Final Lap Cars, bring on the RV’s!

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

mood springs hauler must be around the corner as he is showing up on ebay

  • kevin roche says:

HEY MATTEL WHERE’S ARE TOYS R US PROMO

    signed wheres our toys

  • Ryan says:

Would they possibly just do Mega Size Semis instead of Haulers to get them all out? Or a combination?

  • PirateDad says:

COntest Entry page gets 400+ posts, informative page with nothing really to b&(*&ch about 14 posts…interesting!

  • Mara says:

Is there any chance you will make up a holiday/fall/winter buying guide..you know with the what/when/where? Crossing my fingers.

(MET: Oh oh, people are starting to read my mind … guess I should start wearing pants).

  • MiaSenorita says:

Fun Cars, all around! Not much I can do about when/how/where they release them… I will just be happy to find any and all of the cars that they do decide to release!

Just got my hardback Comic Book – Cars:The Rookie in the mail today. I ABSOLUTELY Love it! I was having a hard time deciding which of the regular comics to get with all the crazy cover varients, etc. Well, finally I decided to just get the hard back so it will last a little longer in this house with small children. Its is great! It has all the covers pictured in it, including the Seattle Comic Con Foil cover! The paper it is printed on is top notch and glossy! The whole things just looks beautiful. Allen and Albert did an excellent job with the story and illustrations. I am going to preorder my Cars: Radiator Springs hard cover right now!

  • Flik'sFriend says:

  • LUCA says:
