Coming back are the Storyteller CARS … based on stories from this book.
There are also TWO VERSIONS of the book – the regular version is $10.87 – available at most bookstores including Amazon in the US.
At Target last year, there is an EXCLUSIVE version with a read-along CD which costs about $5 more (cover shown below is the Target cover). Unknown if the exclusive book with Cd is coming back.
Inside, the books were exactly the same.

There will be Seven 3-packs for Storytellers 2.0
2 are returning exactly as they were … (there are rumors that this package design may change but no real proof just yet).
And two are being re-arranged in a slightly more logical 3-pack though not exactly 100% logical …
BN Mater is subbed in for Flo who moves to a new re-packed 3-pack below …
So basically, Flo & BN Mater switch places in these two three-packs.
It does make more sense that Wedding Day Ramone & Flo are in one 3-pack versus before … though of course, Tractor while nice to have him available is not exactly the first character you think of when you think of Flo & Ramone’s wedding day.
The ONE Storyteller 3-pack NOT returning in any form is Red & Luigi & Guido.
There will be 3 NEW Storyteller 2.0 3-packs … one is the three Showgirls …
And Mater’s Cousins is another.
And there is a mystery Storytellers 3-pack for the ‘Hoodwinked’ short story … will it include Bubba since he’s not available as a single? Will it include Stanley (as statue in story) to counter Bubba’s two-three times the weight and size of nearly every other diecast? There’s not a lot of other characters in the Hookwinked story so?????
Sergio E. was also kind enough to note that Target.com has many listed online though listed with the infamous, “We’ll email you.” (We SWEAR! We will, honest!) ;-/
They have the returning sets listed (along with the photos they handy – accurate or not): The Rusty Boys & Ramone Set, the set with Fred & Smell Swell, the Wedding Day set with Flo & Ramone, the Sponsorless McQueen set, BUT they also have the Sheila-Laverne-Rhonda Showstoppers set listed, as well as 2nd mystery set with Bubba.
I signed up for the emails, we’ll see if we hear anything …
As for the “other possibles” I listed, it’s hard to say as the most visually compelling will have been released – most likely they will either have moved onto another Storyteller’s book or turn their attention to the more high profile-visually compelling Mater Tall Tales as the “expanded universe” series … but we shall see …

Target is showing these sets online; listed as out of stock but at least you can see them. I think the out of stock actually means coming soon?

is going to love it. I just ordered him the audio CDs with the book. He is
learning to read now and this is going to be great since he is going to be
so into the stories. Any idea when we will start seeing these for sale?

Thanks, Met, for finding the Target info. When I search the site I can’t find anything new. The site says my nearest Target (100+ miles) has the new haulers “available.” Yea, right!! And……why don’t they make a set of three tractors available so we can recreate the tractor tipping scene? That’s the most hilarious scene in the movie!!

i was cycling and this long shiny orange whale drove past, i tried to catch up to have a better look but bikes only go so fast!
oh yeah, im in some middle-of-nowhere small town in England, so it was quite a surprise,
also, today i saw one of those huge american motorhomes, it pulled into the garage…well, it couldnt fit under the canopy, so it pulled onto the path near the garage..err…i mean gas station…

Anyone still have the Target DCPI for the Story Tellers singles and 3-Packs?
The Storyteller 3 pack DPCI may be 087-07-1730 according to the Target website – don’t recall the # for the singles though.
The Sho girls are a must have, the retro look. Even though not in the movie, part of Flo’s back story. Really a Nash Metropolitan may be coming? Now that is something. I’ll bet there are not many diecasts out there based on this car.
(MET: Oops, forgot one last paragraph … my guess is that more releases are unlikely from THIS STORYTELLERS book but who knows, it’s fun to speculate … some are easy and many are repaints … and if a Nash makes an appearance in CARS 2 🙂 ).
