Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Chief, I Pity the Non-Pitty Collector

Well, the great Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS Box Set lull is going to be over by this Fall & Christmas …

Say hello to the latest – greatest – newest Bo Diddley-icious addition to the CARS lineup … “Crew Chief’s and Pitty’s” Box Sets.

Yes, that’s right – it took this forever and a day to figure out that Crew Chief’s & Pitty’s go together but finally, like bikini’s & earmuffs (and okay, that peanut butter-chocolate thing) …

Three Box Sets in the first assortment …

Chick Crew
This is a composite photo – you will get will obviously get the crew chief but I’m going on a wild guess and figure the pack will contain 1 thin Pitty & 1 fat Pitty so while there is the slim chance there is another Pitty or maybe a toolchest and tires – I’m going to bet my money on the three above. It looks like it will be the current 3-pack size box so it seems pretty safe to guess 1 crew chief and two Pitty’s plus then pricing will be around the 3-packs pricing … and this way if you want more Pitty’s, buy another box! 🙂

Leakless Chief & Pitty

Again, I have two Leak Less Pitty’s and of course, the crew chief from the three pack so that’s the photo but when these get released – not sure if the Box Sets will feature new Pitty’s size-wise or just repeats … we might see more at SDCC to confirm.

Dinoco Chief & Pitty

Yep, another composite photo including a fake thin Dinoco Pitty just for effect and to mess with ya 🙂 … what? You didn’t do the mailaway at Long John Silver for the thin Pitty?

KIDDING. KIDDING!

So, FINALLY, we will get the Dinoco & Chick Crew Chief’s … they didn’t want to put it in the mainline and too small for the megasized, at least they came to their release-senses though as you can see, ONLY AT TARGET.

So, please visit us in America … come for the Crew Chief’s & Pitty’s … stay for the sushi & funnel cake …

And yes, amazing that there might be a release without a McQueen in the lot (probably because they didn’t realize Pit Crew Guido is a McQueen Pitty … shhh, don’t say it out loud).

Oh, yeah, there’s much more to come for 2009 … so move the kids all into one room and tell your financial adviser you need to empty your account because you are buying zinc futures (he doesn’t know the zinc you will buying is attached to tiny wheels).

  • PirateDad says:

Met, are you gonna Podcast the Panel afterwards???????????? Pretty please!!!!!!

  • Carlos says:

Will the king and Chick crew chief be avalible as a single or megasize? I don’t want another “Not Chuck” body King pitty or Bruiser. Please let me know.

  • Nitroadefan#28 says:

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, Target is playing their cards right and will soon have a monopoly on all of the Cars die cast merchendise, and will make a boat load of money!

  • acuransx says:

    ChrisIA,

Yeah, it’s always about the money on the table. Kinda like playing poker. I have to play with the cards I’m dealt and try to find a way to come up with the best hand possible………….

There’s lot’s of money in that pot and tooling dollars are just a part of it. There’s so many other parts of that pot that you are not aware of. You shouldn’t have to be you just want quality product that you can find at retail at a decent price.

Selling in Pitty’s was tough, but to be expected. Look how small they are, who knew? Who’s goona buy one Pitty on a card? Then it’s about the pack out……….and your bank of existing tools………

Who even knew this line would still be here in order for us to even have the opportunity to be selling/offering every Pitty body style? 🙂

    • ChrisIA says:

No matter the outcome, you are the man Martin! Thanks.

Someday you and Met need to sit down talk about the process of making a character from concept to consumer (). Of course you two would have to find time for that… 🙁

(MET: SDCC panel – Sunday, July 26 – 2 PM – Be there!)

  • ChrisIA says:

    Martin,

I’m sure you are in a pricing battle with the decision makers over there. I think most of us here would like to see all three molds of pitty in the boxset if the price isn’t outrageous – feel free to correct me fellow Take5ers.

  • Flik'sFriend says:

Geez….. miss a weekend, miss a lot!!!!!!!!! Acura~ these are so awesome!!!! I love the Crew Chiefs!!!! 😆

  • hostile takeover banker says:

hmmm that didn’t work and I thought I had changed it.

  • Mia, Tia and NJM says:

I’ll take this one…. and that one…. AND that one!! Where are the rest of them?

  • BigMOCats says:

    OK, these I’ll be buying!;)

  • Daniel says:

    Long Live Target!

  • TrboTrex says:

    UMMMM…..Funnel Caaaake……

The crew chiefs look god too.

  • jason says:

    make a FAT DINOCO PITTY!

  • acuransx says:

    Jake,

Talked to Nascar on the phone to let him know where I’m at. I’ll be staying in the GasLamp district, bout 8 minute walk from the Convention Center.

A Mattel/Disney/Pixar/Cars TailGate party sounds like fun to me. Maybe someone can come and get me cause I’ll be a ways away from the Motel 6. If many of you are staying at the same hotel maybe we do it there instead?

Nascar? just throwing it out there….

  • CaptainChunk says:

Ugh, more Target exclusivity. I’ll certainly buy them, *if* I can ever find a Target that knows how to stock.

  • iamspeed says:

“I pity the non-pitty collector fool!” Credit to Mr. T, more or less…..

  • acuransx says:

    PSTS,

What a cop out on my Mattel/Disney/Pixar Cars Magic Wand thingie.

You sound like a Marketing guy now. 😉

What happened? It’s all good, so far been gett’n by without the wand, but I’ll take the Pie…….. 🙂

Looking forward to meeting you @ the Con, have a safe flight. Hear from Kevin you’ll be coming in with other T5AD peeps. I’ve instructed Kevin to give my cell # to those with you that need it.

  • acuransx says:

    PitStopToyShop,

Jake, can’t wait till Christmas for that Magic Wand HomeSlice…….

Do me a favor and please hand carry that bad boy to San Diego Comic Con for me. Should fit in your carry on, so whatever you do, please don’t check it with the rest of your luggage as it is way to valuable to even think of it getting lost 🙂

Mattel/Disney/Pixar/Cars Magic Wands are very hard to come by. Can’t wait to try it out.

  • Chris says:

These look AWESOME! So glad to be getting the crew chiefs.

  • acuransx says:

I can’t tell you how hard it is to convince others that Pitty’s would sell. Just like the Haulers that took 2 years to gain traction going forward.

As always, when subjectivity comes in to play, it’s just that. Subjective 🙂

Also have to remember that anytime you change something on these die cast Characters it takes new tooling which means more money and we only have x amount for tooling within each year.

There’s alot of cards on the table that you guy’s are not aware of. There is no tooling Fairy or Schedule Fairy that waves a magic wand. Sure wish there was 🙂

  • I think they owe Aroldo some royalties or something. Didn’t he make them first?

  • Nascarfan says:

    Great Ideas, long overdue products

  • jestrjef says:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!! Crew Chiefs and some cool pitty’s. Like most of you, I hope they do not pair pitty’s that are the same!!

Maybe one wide and one skinny??

    Different Facial expressions?

Maybe one holding an air ratchet and one holding a gas tank?!?!?

  • acuransx says:

    Indykit,

My marching orders when I inherited this Disney/Pixar Cars Product Line about 3 years ago was to keep it “EverGreen”. Keep it going. It was a tall order at that time because no one was designing any new product which Met referes to as the Black Hole period 🙂

I’m proud that my Design team and I kept this Line going through lots of battles, hot LZ’s, land mines, some misfires, but the Line still stands and the Checkered Flag is up as we go into Cars 2 🙂

Independence Day is tomorrow. Sure wish I could see a firework that would spell out a Cars Logo. 🙂 How cool would that be?

God Bless All, have a safe Fourth of July.

    • Blake from MN says:

How about if I launch a car off a firework??

    • BMW says:

Acura, we really appreciate all you have done. Really looking forward to seeing what will be shown new at SDCC.

    • Steve: AKA: Poppa says:

Your design team is a credit to keeping the Cars line alive and well. Now I wish the buyers for Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, et al will bring their inventory system into the 21st century. It is a constant battle to get product to the local stores. I really wish Mattel had a website like Hasbro so the buyer/collector does not have to waste time and money making endless runs to the stores. It is much easier and cheaper on gasoline to sit at a computer and take a chance on finding it available.

Now if Disney/Pixar would give a license to manufacturers of shells for slot car racers we can really have some action.

I like your reference to “hot LZ’s and land mines” but your picture makes you too young to have been “over the pond.”

      • Mia, Tia and NJM says:

All I can say is “ditto” to your first paragraph Steve. The marketing guys should be doing the same great job Acura and team are doing. Then we wouldn’t be so frustrated all the time. I’m hoping that Matty will get a clue after SDCC and be of more help to us. (But I’m not holding my breath–it could be fatal.)

    • Thanks for all your hard work Acura. Can’t wait to see these sets in the wild!

Happy 4th of July to you and everyone else here on Take5! 😀

  • RPM64 says:

I will get the Chick Hicks crew and King’s crew

  • acuransx says:

    Ladies&Gentlecars,

They are listening, just takes time, sometimes a little to much time 🙂

The new packs that are coming are awesome as well, I think I commented on another post that I just saw first shots of Sarges Boot Camp and the Christmas Special Packout. All Characters unpainted, no deco and it they still look awesome. Sarge is all the way to the right of the package, up on a berm………….sweet, maybe I’ll shoot some quick pics and send to Met just to let you take a gander.

  • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

yay! these are awesome! now if they do this for all the cars this would be oh so sweeett!! and then having the haulers too hah i wonder how long it will take lol 🙂

  • PirateDad says:

I zinc that Mattel might be listening!

  • hostile takeover banker says:

this is a very nice idea… finally. Me thinks, these will sell like hotcakes. Pit row just got a whole lot better.

  • L8rM8r says:

Wow where did these come from. I didn’t even know that they were making all the crew chiefs. These will be a great addition to the racers. So you think that we will see these before the end of 09?

(MET: Sadly, they’ve been showing off Dinoco & Chick Crew Chiefs almost as long as Richard Kensington but finally, they are getting ready to be boxed).

  • Carlos says:

If the King pitties are the thin and wide bodies I’ll get them. But I’ll buy the Chick Hicks crew chief on ebay loose. I hate Chick Pitties. Hopefully, the King and Chick crew chiefs will be avalible as a single or megasize. I hope they’ll be a single or megasize. Please tell me if they will be.

  • cac1959 says:

I can never get enough pittys… And if this is what it takes to get the Chick and King crew chiefs, I’m in… It would be great to get one thin and one wide pitty in each package… and some of us have been known to buy a 3 pack for 1 new Car as we collect them all.

  • Strip Weathers says:

I think that it’s a bit non-sense buying two pitties that are exactly the same. Maybe if they had different expression…

  • ahrenswi says:

    It’s about time!

I’m sick of the otherwise identical crew chiefs…
It’s nice to finally see some variety.

  • danno says:

FINALLY!!! Chick’s Chief in the house ! chick’s speedway diorama in full effect!

  • Daniel says:

    These toys will bankrupt me!!!!!!!!!!!
