Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Lenticular FINAL Card Design

When the “Race O Rama” cards first appeared, it was hard to tell if we should call them World of CARS: Race O Rama or just plain Race O Rama … but now, it looks like we’re back to calling this series World of CARS: Race O Rama (October 2008 to May 2009) and World of CARS: Lenticulars (June 2009 to …).

For card geeks, the J-hook is now built into the card, & the blister is visible from the back.

Very classy. Packaging definitely is a serious step above the early releases … the rumor is that they are on the shores and headed to warehouses … maybe June will be a new CARS reset?

Here’s hoping …

Case assortments HERE.

And of course, the confusing CHASE CARS on this card but are NOT lenticular … read all about it here

    Ladies & Gentlecars,

This image is not a prototype, it is final production as we recieve these before they are shipped to double check that everything is chilly and no major mistakes.

We are working on fixing the inner blister as it is obstructing the windshield! That was the whole reason of doing these.

I still think little graphic eyeballs within in the two “O” of the word look would have been cool but I heard someone somewhere didn’t like that execution.

Anyway, Las Vegas rules, table reads the cards. Let’s see what happens.

  • iamspeed says:

MET, bring back the SPIRAL-EYE graphic!!! They’re not scary without that!

  • Claeface73 says:

Say what you will…These will all fly off the shelves. Why? Two words…NEW…CARS!

    • 5oclockshadow says:

I think that is the point though. These ARE NOT new Cars… same Cars with googly eyes.

That being said, I do believe these will sell well starting out. But more as trade fodder than actual keepers.

    • TJH-AZ says:

I think it will depend on the price. Right now, almost all 11 of the Targets around me are FULL of ROR blisters. I stopped at 7 this morning and saw nothing new. 5 of the stores had one each chase DJ and 2 of the stores had one each chase Snot Rod. Weren’t these cases released quite awhile ago? Seems like more older cases are still coming in. The way the shelves were packed full, I think it’s going to be awhile before the Targets around me get anything NEW.

        Chocolate Martini???

        (saw your blog page)

        • TJH-AZ says:

My wife Loooves them. Hmmm, I should actually say that my wife loves pretty much anything chocolate. She makes a wicked chocolate martini I will say but she can never decide if it should be clear or chocolate colored. I like the clear ones myself. The ones she made for that party were in martini glasses that I had dipped in melted chocolate so the entire rim of the glass had a chocolate coating. She also made a chocolate mint martini for one of the other guests. Yum.

          • Samuel says:

You should try an espresso martini – use vanilla vodka, baileys, a shot of espresso, splash of kahlua and drizzle chocolate inside the martini glass before you pour it. Yum!

          • Nascarfan says:

Now my teeth really hurt…..(had a long day at the dentist today).

Hi, I am Nascarfan and I am a Cars-a holic and a IV chocolate user….

            • Nascarfan says:

My specialty is every Valentines Day is chocolate dipped strawberries and then trickle melted Cookies n Cream over them to resemble bird poop….

              they are a hit…

Thanksgiving is homemade White cheddar / Cheddar popcorn and I make about 20 lbs of it every year. Its always a sell out.

Even have sent it to my overseas Cars buddies.

  • 5oclockshadow says:

    Zook!

What happened to the ‘other’ lenticular packaging? That one was perfect!

This packaging is way over the top. Might as well put some flashing LED’s around the sign. I agree that most of the exclamation points will get bent up. Also, what is to prevent someone from writing down all the race codes now that you see all the way through?

    • Lorri says:

I bet this is still a prototype. The reason the corners are always diecut with a corner radius, however tiny, is so the card releases clean from the waste with no tears. I would be surprised if it was a sharp point.

  • BMW says:

Very unsure yet about these. Met, do you know if the classic cars will also be in the new see through blister design? That is one aspect that is a definite improvement. I agree with the other posters that this design will be hard to find in mint on card, with the exclamation point sticking up, that will get bent easily. If the incorporated hook is not reinforced better than what these pictures show, they will rip or bend easily, sliding around on the pegs.

We have a small gift shop and have that problem with these types of peg hangers.

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

With both sides of the castings visible now, it will more difficult to find a MINT car in MINT packaging. With one side hidden with card stock, it was always assumed the hidden side was MINT. Kind of like baseball card factory sets- everything is MINT until it is opened! 🙂

  • Roswell says:

i found 2 new launchers at tesco today!!!!

Shiny wax and retread, almost got both, but at almost £8 its abit of a…uh…um…a slap in the face?

ugh…brain is not mush, been writting 2,000 word essay about how i intend to set up a small illustration business after i finish uni, took like, 4 hours, i hate writing…

anyway, i got shinywax, ill get retread later, just hope he is the more common one, or the least favourite one, just my luck now ill see shiney wax everywhere and no retread,

also bought storyteller book for nephew,

also…only just noticed..the story tellers 3 packs…is it just me or do the pack assortments make no sense at all?

(MET: Yes, 3-packs not real logical, next releases one more sensical).

    • Roswell says:

its like mattel has monkeys randomly picking names from a hat and throwing them into any random case, and the votes have been rigged in LMQ’s favour…

also, are their any other storyteller storys going to be released?

and apart from bubba and the cousins and the motorama girls are any more cars from the line planned?

(MET: Storytellers Wave 2 might be out by summer but is looking like Fall … beyond that, there’s nothing listed but they can always release another book).

  • cac1959 says:

I may buy a few of my favorites, but I will definitely not collect them all… after all, how many McQueens can you play with at once?

And I won’t be buying the entire case…

  • TarheelBill says:

3 new cases. 24 Cars each. 4 new items. Ridiculous Mattel !!! 😡

  • rpag says:

after seeing this pic, i am second guessing not purchasing them. i might just have to get them now

  • CaptainChunk says:

Looks like an even easier to damage cardback.

Hopefully these shiny new googly eyes will distract the other local buyers from snagging the boring old chase cars….leaving them all for me. >:D

  • Daniel says:

Love the double bubble packaging. It will make it easier to buy the one with the least amount of defects.

  • elius04 says:

Doc is still without the silver frame windows!

  • Thanks for the info Met! 🙂

Will the packaging for these chase Cars have ROR art work with the word CHASE like the others?

The chase Cars look great! I do like the packaging design of the lenticular eyed Cars. Not sure about the Cars themselves yet. They do look kind of nice though.

(MET: That was the plan for CHASE CARS, they will look like these but with word changes … waiting on photo …).

  • Indykjt says:

Will they be World Of Cars: Lenticlular, or World of Cars: LOOK!

  • Daniel says:

Dropping the J-Tag was an excellent idea.

I feel sorry every time I see employees open cases and have to unfold each one to hang them.

  • I-LUV-RACE-CARS says:

Man! That DJ looks really COOL!!!!

  • Dunroamin says:

    I just don’t see myself buying these…
I’m actually disappointed the June Kmart event will have rubber wheels…then it doesn’t match the rest…bummer…

  • cars-in-your-eyes says:

Unfortunately it looks like the exclamation mark is perfectly designed to make mint cards just that much harder to find. 🙁

  • Samuel says:

I’m reserving judgment of these until I actually see them, but they don’t look too bad. I may have a problem with rebuying so many just because of the lenticular eyes, but who am I fooling – one I see them in stores I’m sure I’ll have them all in the cart in no time….

    (MET: Samuel R. – one honest man 🙂 ).

    • Indykjt says:

      Yeah, what he said!

Although it may eventually be a cart with 180 lenticular Docs… here’s hoping! (Is that wrong?)

    • L8rM8r says:

I don’t think you couldn’t have said it better. I said the same about the haulers when they came out then I saw them on the shelves and got that itch. I like the double sided design, but will still wait till I see them on the shelves before I make the final call. I also want to see what the final price is going to be.

  • John in Missouri says:

    Wow, very nice!

  • jestrjef says:

hmmmm, those would make a good WALLPAPER . . . or you could build one of the bead curtain door cover thingys that you have to walk throught to get to the cool room . . . 🙂

I like the front and back PEEP show!!

  • lost says:

shouldn’t the card read “Look I’m a pegwarmer!”
