Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Frank the Combine – Homeward Bound

Three years later, Frank the Combine is finally coming home to roost.

The history of frank the Combine is fraught with villainy (eBay sellers), scum of the Earth (uh, other eBay sellers) and small girls who roll the dice when it’s NOT THEIR TURN!

YEA YOU! CHEATER CHEATER!

Um, what was I saying again?

Oh yeah, Frank the Combine …

The first Frank available was barely bigger than a pair of dice – some many were fooled but others were happy to buy plastic pellet Frank … from the Tractor Tippin’ Board Game …

There were always rumors that on certain nights, on the high seas, you could hear the bellow of the beast – destined to roam the high seas until Mattel could find a blister to fit him into …

Year later, there were sightings … but not the real Frank the Combine …

Then there was MegaBlok Frank which at least was closer to scale …

And actually nicely done for a snap together thing … but one good bellow and he would fall to pieces …

And the current Frank from the Tractor Tippin’ Track Set …

From this set … ginormous on the box but in our hearts and on the store shelf – he’s a tiny bugger …

Still tiny to scale … (and all plastic). Who but MINI McQueen would fear such a thing of plastic?

Well, after 3 years later, a Frank for the 1:55 series is coming ashore …

BELIEVE IT OR NOT … Megasize Frank will be here sometime before Summer 2009 …

frank-wmGreat detailing & diecast though some areas plastic but remember, a kid has to be able to lift it or a really, really weak guy 🙂

(There’s the job to have at Mattel – Hey Al, can you lift this? No? Too heavy? … okay, back to the drawing board).

No case dash code yet but just around the corner … like Elvis, & the showgirls, good freakin’ luck finding it on the shelf.

Though note – it’s in the Megasize line but I think he’s not exactly Megasized … since he has to fit in the blister … so like the blimp, the max size is pretty much 6″ long …

Here’s what the ERTL 1:64 scale Case Combine looks like (and its product code) so we can compare when Megasize Frank is out.

This is a custom based on the ERTL Case Combine.

Welcome home, Frankie … would you mind getting the threshing some crops while you’re here?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the info! My wee one may be content with the ERTL I customed for him, but those eyes give me the creeps. I just can’t believe it’s taken Mattel sooooooo long to get going on this. However, MATTEL: I am truly very grateful, lets hope it’s here in time for the Easter Bunny to carry a load of them to the many, many houses impatiently waiting!
