UPC & Target DPCI Numbers for Store Stock
Below is a printable JPEG file of the ongoing and current CARS items you should expect to find in your stores.
While UPC’s are supposed to be “universal,” hence the U, of course Walmart & Target have to go their own way. UPC numbers can be used to check at ALL other stores.
WALMART – They add two zeros to the front of it and delete the last number.
TARGET – Uses their own SKU system and calls them DPCI’s. Target groups items by DPCI such as ALL singles are one DPCI. See below for a more detailed recap on how to use the Target scanners to check inventory if you can’t find an employee.
This list was complied by Niki P. – Niki will be maintaining the list so feel free to email any additional new items to: trickyniki2 (at) hotmail.com or in the comments below. If the comments creates too much work to keep track, I’ll turn it off and we’ll just go with email. Thanks Niki for all your hard work!

But unlike most other stores, Target tries to make it easy/easier for you to figure out if they have it in stock and not apparent on the shelf.

I know you can’t see the numbers very clearly but that’s where the DPCI number is – it’s a 9 digit number.
Now, unlike most other retailers, Target seems to actually have employees who try to be helpful … so if you see the tag and you see an employee with a scanner gun, they can flashy-flash the bar code and tell you what the inventory situation is.
If there are none on the shelf, they might be persuaded to bring it out. Of course, if you are there on a Saturday mid-day, they might be trying to do something else or it’s much tougher if they have 10 on the shelf but you want ONE other one, your odds are diminished … you can increase your odds with a cute baby or kid
and have a voice recording of a kid saying, “Why is that lady/man being mean to me?” Just kidding!
If you don’t spot an employee or want to start the process … find a scanner with these buttons on the right …if there are no buttons, it’s a scanner that can ONLY check prices …

There are no buttons to activate the search process, just start keying in the 9 digit number and the screen will auto change to this …

Note the number at the top is the DPCI for the new mysterioso 4-packs (ignore the ARCHER FARM area – that is an example). Once you are done, click on the ENTER button …

You will get info on pricing but more importantly, if there are any in the stockroom.
Keep in mind that merchandise that is floored early or not yet counted in the system would not show up in the IN STOCKROOM … so it’s not 100% useful but it’s still nice to know.

Here is the dcpi for the Target Easter Eggs. They come up as “Cars Minis” for some reason as posted by someone on Carsthetoys.

Thank You!!
Apparently Target has discontinued the haulers, at least ours has. The 12.99 ones, not the team Haulers. The shelf label was gone for them and in the system they showed up “Discontinued, 0 on hands.” What is up with this? Any news Metro? I got lucky at Walmart, but only got Wally and Leakless. Walmart is too much of an inconvienence to go to for me it is far. Is this a universal thing? I thought I read somewhere that Mattel was holding off shipments of haulers for some time, but why is Walmart getting them? Any info Metro, you are the KING!
I use the price scanners regularly, and use the YES displayed to ask for more Cars (“Hey, it says you got and I want to buy ‘em!”), or figure they’ll be out the next day. I have lots of Targets nearby, but a few have different price scannners that only have a small screen and only give the price. HOW VERY RUDE!!!
Anybody have the UPC #s for the Mater Tall Tales 4 Packs?
I need all the story tellers characters, final lap, and cars toon tales. Where are the best place to get these.
I’m a bit ticked. I called Target yesterday and asked about the “Final Lap” collection and gave them the DPCI number. After being on hold for about 5 minutes, they came back on and told me that they didn’t have them and probably were not going to get them. So, I called back later in the day and ask them about the cars and gave them the DPCI number again. This time I was told they had them but were holding them for “Black Friday 2009″. Say what? I told them the release date was 10/11/09 and they were supposed to be available to the public. I was told that that information came from Target Headquarters. Now being the collector that I am plus wanting the new ones for my set, I drove to the Target today. I punched the DPCI number into the price scanner and it said they were in the stockroom but not available on the shelf. I then found an employee back by toys and asked him about the cars. They said if they are not out that they might have a street date. I kindly told the guy that it was today and I wanted to buy them. He then grabbed his Gemini and punched in the DPCI. He said, I’ll have to go look. About 12 minutes later, he comes back with a case. He asked me what I was looking for. I told him Blowing Bubbles Mater, Polly puddlejumper and Skip Rictor. He gave me one of each and walked the case back to the stockroom. (He would not let me hold and dig through the case myself) I got my cars but why I was I lied to? Why were they not putting them out? Also, I haven’t heard anywhere besides at this Target that they were for Black Friday 2009. Why would something that is in high demand and that is Target exclusive be held from the hands of buyers?
Hey would you be able to tell me the DCPI #’s for those 3?
any updates available?
sigh… I guess not
I think this page needs a little updating…
