Toy Donation - Our Readers & National Organizations
Several readers have mentioned wanting to start a local program to gather up toys for kids during the holiday season.
As the country is huge and even certain regions within the state are difficult to drive back and forth, I’ll leave it up to each of you to decide how you want to best handle toy donations locally and to which charity.
Please feel free to list the effort you are starting or participating in and how others might want to do similiar in their area or join you in your effort.
The large national organization is TOYS FOR TOTS and there are local numbers to call - just check their DB for drop off sites or contact names & numbers.
I believe Toys R Us joins with them every year and in a few weeks, you should see bins in the front of their stores for drop offs.
In most cases, they prefer unwrapped and of course, unopened toys.
But in the case of CARS, certainly there are some options if you have loose CARS you wish to donate that are new - perhaps finding a mini display case that holds 6 CARS … or carefully opening a new playset and adding some CARS inside and sealing it back up … or if you have a lot of loose CARS and you wish to donate to something like a children’s play area at a hospital, you can fill the track carrying case with CARS or the new Mack carrying case with CARS. That actually adds much more play value since most don’t even include any CARS … or the current CAR carrier that comes with 3 CARS, you can add a few more and carefully re-seal it. Just don’t toss the loose CARS into a bag and into the toy bin - make sure you put a little thought and a little heart into it. 
Just think of how much fun & joy these CARS brings to you & your kids - time to make sure everyone gets a little CARSMA. It’s early but happy holidays all and thanks!

I will be filling the Race Trak Carrying case nad I really like MET’s idea os the Mack Carrier that comes with 3, and then filling it up too!!! N20 here I come…talk about win win!!

My wife and I are putting together something for the Children’s hospital in LA County and/or possibly for an orphanage in the area. We live in Lancaster in Los Angeles County. My friend and I actually were thinking of the cars carrying case idea. I have 5 that i am not using since my collection quickly out grew the cases and a place to keep them was becoming an issue. The TRU promotion can help fill the case. I wish I thought of it during the last promotion.
