Looking over my collection of the Disney Store Cars 1 in the collector's cases, I noticed that some had tabs in the lid and the post cards were thicker than others.

My Green Ramone has no tabs in the lid:	My Purple Ramone has tabs in the lid:
I started to look things over more carefully and noticed that the post cards were subtly different. The Disney Store logo has smaller stars in what seems to be the older releases.
All of my Cars without the tabs have the following date code and the font of the date code is super small:	The ones that have a tab have different date codes, but all of them have a larger font:

I also have some duplicates. Some of my duplicates have the tabs while the other ones do not.

The reason I believe the ones without the tabs are older is because they match the ones featured in takefiveaday's post.

My question is, would the older date stamped items be worth more than the newer ones with tabs?

I agree with you on the value being original price for most of the Disney Store die cast Cars 2 releases. As for Cars 1, I have seen a strong demand for the Disney Store Cars 1. Purple Ramone has sold for $115. Most sell for $50 or more, and some I am sure would sell for well over $150 if they would ever show up, like Boost, Tractor, Pinstripe McQueen, Rusteze McQueen, TJ Hummer and more.

Mater sold a little bit ago for $120.

History behind these guys is that in 2010 the Cars 1 series was only sold in stores that had a grand or re-grand opening. They were never sold online and some were very limited in numbers, like metallic Red, the unmarked Chase edition. This is referring to the ones in the collector's case, not the ones sold on card.

I have only gleaned my info from takefiveaday.com past articles since they did the best job of documenting things while they happened in 2010.

I have met some collectors with the same goal, to obtain a full set. But the information to do so is very, very limited. This makes me often wonder if more might have been released under the radar of the internet. Right now the total count is 26.

The seller who has been suppling the demand the most on eBay has been cartooncity916. You can see his closed auctions here.

The purple Ramone was not market price. He accidentally modified the price to $14 instead of $140. I was lucky enough to find his mistake and he honored his mistake.

Yes, the bad boys, Boost, Snot Rod, Wingo and DJ, the Tractors (regular and white), King and some others have been selling between $30-$70. Red Chase sells for about $40ish.

The ones on card come through eBay very frequently. The ones in the cases do not.

I will be posting pictures of Lee Revkins momentarily. I am still torn over if he is a custom or not. He just arrived in the mail a few moments ago.
