Saw the Barrel Blowout set for half off so I got it for my boys. Figured the price was OK if just for the exploding crane.

According to the picture on the box you (someone 3+ years old) set the load on the end of the crane swinging like a pendulum, then launch plastic Finn and a couple of barrels down the ramp. Time it right and Finn speeds past the swinging load and blows up the crane as he escapes.

So does anyone's crane load actually swing when you push it? Although ours is free to swing, it comes to a halt immediately no matter how hard we give it a heave.

Fortunately the crane also fits on backwards so the toy is still usable, but boy is it BORING! It takes three times as long to set up each run as it does to run them.

The boys are happy because now the crane from the Tokyo set has a buddy to talk with, but…

I think they are all made that way. The crane does swing but not freely enough. We always turn ours sideways or use the diecast Finn. Sometimes he'll pop past the crane anyway and still get away.

If you swing it too hard, ours pops off by itself. Finn gets trapped about 50% of the time, he crashes into the cargo but still escapes 25% of the time, and makes a clean getaway the other 25%. The only other Cars 2 set we got was the Rod Redline escape ramp and Rod escapes 75% of the time. Leaving us to wonder how different the movie would be if Finn gets caught in the beginning and it is up to Rod and Mater to save the world?

Don't know yet, haven't opened ours yet. But has anybody put all 6 together to make the chain reaction (as they mention on the back of the box)? I am curious to know if it really works. We just need the big bently. Collect them all, they say. (No, really. It says so right on the box : )

All 6?  We have 4, and I know about Rod's Escape, so what is the 6th one?

We have put our 4 together and it works pretty well.  It glitches up once in awhile but that's to be expected from a chain reaction done multiple times.

Big bentley is the 6th. Its on the back of rod's getaway box. Which leaves the original 4: barrel, siddley, cliffside and tokyo. Im impressed that you got 4 to work.
Something about the simplicity of mater the greater's ramp that makes it my (and my kids) favorite. We have found that lights and sounds holley is one of the best jumpers and that bye bye car lands dead flat on a row of maters (just like mater does in the short). Good times…

It works fine for me.  My son absolutely loves it and I would really recommend getting these playsets if you have little kids.

It would be nice if they could save some plastic and dedicate it to making the rest of Radiator Springs, just like from the first movie (Flo's, Ramone's, Luigi's, and Lizzie's).

We picked up a Stunt Ramp Getaway set today and on the back of the instructions it has a diagram of how to connect all 6 sets.  It has it on the back of the box too.  If my scanner worked I'd post it.

Does anyone else have one they can scan and post?
