For those of us who decided long ago to stop collecting after CARS 1, I am having trouble finding an up-to-date, definitive list of diecast from the first movie. I have found several lists, but they all seem to be mingled with releases from the Disney store, or Toons, or Geo Trax, or whatever. I just want the complete list of diecast that were released, or planned to be released, to the open market via TRU, or Target, or Walmart, or K-Mart, or an overseas equivalent. I am trying to get a complete collection of the diecast toys from the first movie without any Toons or Minis or Disney Store or whatever. Thanks.

The opener checklist covers 2006-2010 and the nightskyline/Final Lap checklist covers 2010 to Kmart Day 6 which is supposed to end Cars 1.

I did not see a checklist link on the top page of the TFAD blog.

On the homepage, just to the bottom left of the Mater picture, it says Magazines in between Latest News and Forums. Just click there and you will see previews of some awesome checklists the guys on this site have created.

The T5 opener checklist is being updated and will be available in the near future. I'm looking forward to that one.

Yeah, when the update becomes available, I'm going to get that one and the Expanded Universe one. Have the opener one from 2006-2010 and my son loves to look for ones he doesn't have yet.

Whoops! Forgot to mention that some Cars in the Singles Checklist weren't released. N2O Cola Pitty, Mood Springs Pitty, Wrecked Doc Hudson, and Timothy Twostroke were the 4 that I notice immediately upon looking through.

If you're trying to acquire a complete collection of Cars, The Original castings on numbered cards there are "significant" variations.  I do not mean a mouth twisted slightly different, although if a collector is into that-have at it.  On my personal checklist I have made entries for distinctively different castings or variations for:

22 Mario Andretti (Gold Rims)

22 Mario Andretti (Red Rims)

44 Fred (Large scale)

44 Fred (Re-scaled/Small)

71 Dexter Hoover (Green Flag)

71 Dexter Hoover (Yellow Flag)

If you're going to count Dexter Hoover, don't forget the Checkered Flag, albeit just an accessory;  Dexter Hoover himself is not a variant from flag to flag.

One major variant I thought of is Fabulous Hudson Hornet with Silver Wheels, later with the corrected Red ones.

I think our yellow flag, checkered flag, and lenty green flag Dexter Hoover all have different expressions.  Not exactly sure though because I'm not at home.  Going to check tonight…Confused

Classic eyed Dexters all different expressions.

Dexter Hoover with the green flag  (TRU 5 pack) smaller mouth than

Dexter Hoover with yellow flag #71 WOC -has wider mouth

Dexter Hoover with checkered flag #139 - white mouth-  unique.

Lenticular versions

Checkered Flag Dexter Hoover lenticular (in 3 car gift pak) has the same mouth as the  WOC #71 classic version.

Dexter Hoover #71 Green flag lenticular – same expression as in TRU 5 pack.

I believe the Fabulous Hudson Hornet with red rims is the only variant on the numbered card (#10).  The silver variant the original last produced on the Supercharged card.  Under the Supercharged card the rims were changed to red.  If one is trying to only collect by the numbers, then you will miss some single carded castings, let alone multiple castings on unnumbered cards or boxes.

Maybe the list needs to have subsections (a,b,c) after the numbered list to indicate variations.  Otherwise you just have to suck it up and buy all the books for the different 'runs' and make it a challenge.  That's what collecting is all about.

True, but Steve AKA Poppa said  "I do not mean a mouth twisted slightly different".

That being said, Steve, how do you classify Marco (the Jet) & Stu Bop as well as Richard Kensington Clayton & Marco Axelbender (the SUV)?  Both pairs are identical vehicles besides eyes, mouths, etc., etc., etc.  Do you still collect 'em all?

I collect lint in my belly button Smile

Stu and marco have clearly different paint jobs…that's like saying you aren't going to collect Gask-its cuz Tow Cap has the same body style but just different paint…

I collect them all…but not packaging variants…like WOC vs. final laps
