CARS Collecting Club - By State, Region or Country
There’s no real simple format but maybe this will work - basically if you would like to claim a state, region or country - COMMENT below by listing the area you wish to start with*, people can ‘reply’ underneath and add info if they want to join you or email you privately. You can use this to meet, help out fellow collectors, hook up fellow CARS collectors, marry, birth more cute kids so you can get an extra Kmart number - it’s all possible … I would promise you you that you’ll rich and be a billionaire also but hey, if you’re collecting CARS, how much money can you have left?
* If there is a conflict - stand at 25 paces and READY, SET, GO - name all the different McQueen’s available - last person standing gets to claim the territory just like the days of yore.
We’d love to hear how you’re doing - send us pics of your club meetings, send us pics of your quilt efforts and if there are other events in your area.
Enjoy!

On a side note, my road trip to the fanshawe/hyde park SWM was a bust. all sold out of the oversized. bonus is that when my gf stopped at the fairview mall WM she found 3. so i’m now the proud owner of lslmcq, barney and blimpy. gotta love her since she searches for me at night while i’m working afternoons. at least there is some hope we will see something new up here. still gonna have to do a cross border raid in december tho. gotta get some haulers

October 25th, 2008 at 12:16 pmI would like to suggest an idea for our group. Please give me your feedback and let’s see if we can all make this work.
In the next few months (like sometime after Christmas) let’s get together for a “Road Rally”. We can divide San Diego county up into sections and each one of us cover a different section hitting all the Walmarts, Targets, Toys R Us, Walgreens, Mervyns, anywhere that has CARS. The idea is to fill in holes in each of our collections. Basically, we would meet at one location (I could offer my house) and each ‘team’ would bring their ‘wish list’. We would combine the wish lists onto one sheet of paper broken down by team. Then we divide and conquer! We hit all the local reatailers in one day and buy up as many of the CARS on the wish lists that can be found. When you find a CAR that someone is wishing for, you could call or text all the teams to let everyone know to cross that one off. If there is a CAR on your list AND other team’s lists then you would fulfill yours first then other’s. If only one CAR is found that multiple teams want then we could do a drawing for it at the end of the day. When we finish the day we would all meet at our starting location and one-for-one trade what we found. For example…RACERGUY finds a CAR on Monica’s list and Monica finds a CAR on RACERGUY’s list, they would just trade. If CURLY YOUNGBLOOD found a CAR on my list but I was unable to locate any on his list, I would just pay him for that car. Essentially, this would give us an opportunity to canvas a large area and attempt to complete our collections(hopefully). We could also compare notes on storing/displaying our collections, upcoming releases, or anyhting CARS! We could also incorporate a BBQ or something as well, ’cause after all that runnin’ around we are going to be hungry!
So what do you all think?
I have a lot more ideas for this, but I wanted to see if there was any interest.

This is why I started our group. keep form chasing each other around and make friends and not competition. Keep each other off ebay and help each other. I am glad some of my ideas are working for others and would love to hear some of yours. Maybe we can get Met to post some sort of “Standards n Practices”??? Maybe that will work or not.
I am glad to be a Utah Takefiveaday Chapter
Hey maybe we can designate Takefiveaday Chapter numbers in which our states were adopted into the United States?

October 26th, 2008 at 1:02 pmI couldn’t agree more. We have enough competition with the retailers putting new product out; we don’t need to compete with one another. I believe there is strength in numbers and if there are enough collectors in one area or enough chapters worldwide, then we can have a stronger voice in the retailing of our CARS. Additionally, the comraderie that can be had while meeting with others who are interested in the same hobby is fantastic! Take5aday gives us all the perfect medium in which to discuss the hobby and expand our collections, as well as understanding more of what goes into getting those little CARS to market(thank you MET!.) All the while, as you said, keeping us off of eBay.
To allow this, and so much more, to fully come to fruition it is going to take everybody in a particular geographic area coming together and demonstrating to all the retailers, as well as Mattel, that we WILL continue to purchase CARS, so long as there is a commitment from them. A standards and practices would be great, but first we need to organize ourselves.
Individuals, such as yourself and many like you, do a lot in promoting and suppoting the hobby amongst hobbyist and if everybody does whatever they can to continue or support that basic mission, how can we go wrong?
Looking forward to officially forming the San Diego, CA Chapter!

October 26th, 2008 at 1:14 pmI went to one Walmart and mentioned our group. I even have found a Walmart manager interested in joining. He was even puzzled as to why some things WERE NOT on the shelves. I showed him Slicepie/Mets pic of the N5531-999B Case I was looking for. He offered to go look for it. We took a walk into his back warehouse and I saw 4 1054-999W cases and 3 N5531-999B Cases and 2 Walmart Oct pallets and asked about buying them BEFORE they hit the shelves also mentioniing that we five are running ourselves ragged looking for these NEW items. he said: “Here take them now”. Save yourself some time and gas.
The Walmart pallet would have to wait for room on the floor. He offered me two outta three.
I took the case N5531-999B Cases and picked n choosed from the 4 1054-999W cases. Made 5 people IMMEDIATELEY HAPPY
I had some cards to give him and made a New Walmart friend and an assistant manager friend at the same time.
Thanks for the kind words to Glen.

I have already made contact with pw_cc about combining our efforts. I am religious about checking the east side of Madison and Sun Prairie (I live in Marshall) and get to the west side from time to time. I must admit that the east Madison Target has kept me up to date very nicely these past couple months. I am an opener, so I only take one (two if they are cool, so my son can have one too) when I see it. But I do see new releases that I could scoop up for others.
Send me an email (petersonst06@uww.edu) and perhaps we can start a group like Nascarbroncosfan has done.

November 2nd, 2008 at 3:05 pmIn the Milwaukee area things have improved recently. Several Targets I check have been stocking case A and storytellers regulary. I’ve almost given up on any walmarts having anything new. TRU had case A last weekend (no impounds left, but I got several at Target already). Walgreens has been carrying case r and I’ve picked up 2 stickers mcqueens there. Let me know if anyone sees any signs of oversized case b at walmart or case w(endcap). We look almost everyday and nothing.
Tricia[Reply]
DisneyCarsFanatic Reply:
November 6th, 2008 at 9:49 pmI usually check the three TRUs in Milwaukee. The one on 27th street usually has the best selection. I have had success by asking them to check if they have any in back. They will usually check for you if there is room to put out a full case. Both times, they pulled out Case A for me.
I also make a run of the targets and walmarts on the north and west side of Milwaukee, then north to west bend. Like stated above, the walmarts just have not been getting restocked. The October end cap was pitiful.
I would be interested in combining our efforts and trying to trade locally, if others are interested.

November 12th, 2008 at 9:37 pmWe are checking the same stores. I’ve given up on Brown Deer Road TRU. I agree southside TRU is best. We check North side Walmarts and Targets every week (some multiple times). On weekends we try to hit a few others. Walmart continues to be pathetic lately. We did find dinoco helicopter and mack oversized, but Marco was gone. This was at Germantown Walmart. Target is restocking A cases often and we have found all storytellers easily including case b. I never found case w anywhere in the milwaukee area- pathetic endcaps with banshees, old minis, and at one store oversized case a. I found the remnants of w case in Madison last weekend- I did need a second lizzie, so this was ok.
I am interested in trading locally. Right now I am only missing Sally with cone and Dexter Hoover. Until the pallet arrives (hopefully) and the new cases come out.[Reply]

October 27th, 2008 at 10:02 amWhere I have had the most luck lately is Walmart Neighborhood markets on the KC kansas side. They seem to get the same singles as the regular Walmarts except I dont think that anybody knows that. I had never found a Chase BS Mcqueen and I had searched 30 stores over 2 weeks. I finally went in to a Walmart Neighborhood market and found 2 Chase BS McQueens on the pegs. I have been very lucky lately at TRU in Independence. The way to get them at TRU is to go the day after they get a truck. And then make sure you ask if they got any in even if there are none out. I just scored 2 Ron Hovers and the Chase Impound McQueen this last week, but only because I asked if they had any in the back. I know this probably messes me up for later but I am happy to help a local Cars collector. Oh and by the way I went to Walmart yesterday (the one at 291 and 70) and I got them to put out their new oversized Cars, the bad thing is they only had Case A.
On a side note, I have a bunch of extras of the most recent releases so if you need anything just email me and I will see what we can do. Goodluck and keep in touch.

October 26th, 2008 at 2:10 amI think the first info went out to Hot Wheels Red Line members. Is that right Met?
Personally, I found out about it here. In my opinion, the ONLY place anyone needs to look to find out what’s going on in the CARS world. Happy Hunting[Reply]

November 6th, 2008 at 6:19 pmI’m with you, buddy. I commute from East Mesa to Phoenix for work and can check WM’s, Targets, TRU’s, KB Toys, etc. on the way to and from.. Usually, I check stores on Friday nights on the way home since I work a later shift. WM’s usually bring out their toy pallets on Friday night to stock for the weekend.
I have some extra’s. Let me know what you need and I can help keep an eye out for you…
I still need Flea and Flik, Gasprin and Towcap, Sidewall Shine..

I’ll claim Western Australia. Australia is too big to claim as one if we called a meeting it’d take 3-4 days travel for me to get to other side of Australia where the majority of Aussies live.
But the Aussies should have some informal ties for the whole Island and then sub groups for each state. Anyway any West Aussies out there let me know.

October 30th, 2008 at 7:14 pmHi Jeaks!
I’ll support you. Am currently trading and selling a bundle of cars. Let’s here from any other Aussies… I know there are more cars fans because all of our stores are full of empty pegs like the photos we see posted here.

November 5th, 2008 at 2:45 pmHTB and I have made contact, the Cars Club in Western Australia is underway with all two of us. So anybody else in the West jump on board.
We have started trading and I am feel pretty good helping out a fellow collector. Just knowing that I can help HTB avoid EvilBay makes me feel good inside. I told the wife I knew there was a reason I got an extra SDCC LSMq(got 4 from Matty 1 for me, 1 for each of my (2) sons and a spare that I put on my desk at work. The spare is now going to HTB and at cost - So to those firetruckers on Ebay selling at ripoff prices, take that, stick that in your pipe, shove it up your rear wind pipe and then light it, then see how ya going smoking it.
Seriously though feels good to know I am not alone, there is another Cars addict out there.
