I stopped at my local TRU this evening to just check out the new display of Cars 3. Utter disappointment. I think every marketer knows packaging is part of the lure to get someone to buy. Well, the packaging left me uninspired. No art work? No description of the characters? Maybe the release of the toys should have been postponed to after the release of the movie. I know many parents who came away with a bad taste in their mouths due to the toy violence of Cars 2. Are parents reluctant to start buying toys for a movie of which they do not know the plot? If anything, I’ll wait for Mattel to realize their faux pas and do some decent artwork on the packaging.

Without numbering or series system and no more exclusive background card for each cars, collecting the way I was doing for years now has no more meaning… Cars 3 toys being more expensive than ever is mainly the trigger to make me think to get only the new characters and exclusives (not any “FIRST LOOK AT”… it is more like “DO NOT BUY ME” I will return later to make your multi pack no more “exclusive”) That will bring down my spending a lot less and let me more room for the future of this universe… 🙂

I found all of these about a month ago at Kroger. Bought them all at 1$ a piece because Kroger had no idea what they had put out and they were on clearance since they were supposed to be getting ready for the very cars I was buying. They changed the card back completely as well, no art whatsoever, says cars 3 and its basic red and black fade.
