Mattel Disney PLANES: Metallic Racing Dusty Now on Amazon

Thanks for the heads up, “John H.”

The “mysterious” metallic “Racing Dusty Crophopper” seems to have moved out of the back of the Mattel’s warehouse to Amazon’s warehouse.

Presumably it comes with the plastic/acrylic stand/case. (and cover – photo in link at end).

You can buy it at $6.99 – but only as an Add-on item if you buy $35 dollars worth of other stuff – it might be only $25 for Prime Members?

BUT they also have a promotion where you can get it for FREE if you buy $15 worth of Disney Planes products.

If you’ve been waiting to buy the 3-pack Secretary of the Interior, Teddy and Pontoon Dusty (plus a smoke jumper), the price has been reduced to $16.85 + you get a free Metallic Dusty.

Or Muir, the Train.

Secretary of the Interior, Teddy is now $7.99 as it looks like Amazon has gotten it in stock.

Or buy any other Mattel Disney PLANES products that total up to $15 or more.

Then go this PLANES Promotions PAGE, scroll down to the middle of the page.

Under the “$6.99 Disney Planes Racing Dusty Crophopper Collectible Die Cast Vehicle” Click on ADD TO TOY BOX.

(NOT the $7.99 one which is the regular Dusty)

Then on the right side of the page back towards the top, click ADD ALL TO CART. It’s important to do both clicks.

When you check out, it will list the price as $6.99 with a credit on the right column under promo and auto subtracting the $6.99 from your purchase.

Thanks for the heads up, “John H.”

If you care, this metallic PLANE seemed to have been in-line for a Kmart promotion but something went awry, of course, the Kmart rep denied it was ever offered to them … er, alright – nevermind it’s printed on the box.

I tried to buy Gordon and Corn Cob planes today and get the free advertised Dusty collectible. Declined by Amazon when they added restrictions not divulged in their advertising.

Here’s an edited transcript of the chat. I edited the names, addresses, and corrected a few typos.

    #####################################################################################
Me: lost previous chat to browser crash. There is a Disney Planes promotion and the web site does not function correctly.
The promotion is here in the middle of the page

I tried adding the two planes for a total of $15.98 and could not get it to work at all.

Amazon CSR: Hello, my name is (edited). I’m here to help you today.

Me: hello, the promotion does not work.

Amazon CSR: I’m sorry, you have an issue upon checkout. No worries, I’ll be happy to check this for you and see what I can do to help.
May I have the link of the promotion of the item, please?

Me: It is right below my email address, but here it is again The promotion is here in the middle of the page

    Amazon CSR: I see.
Are you referring to spend $15 and get the item free?

    Me: yes

    Amazon CSR: Thanks for confirming.
To assist you further, can you tell me the name on your account, your e-mail address, and your billing address, please?

Me: I did at the very top of the chat
    from the third line

    Amazon CSR: I see.
May I place you on hold for a minute or two while I check on this for you?

    Me: yes

    Amazon CSR: Thanks.

    Me: http://amzn.to/1YQlPjZ

    Amazon CSR: Thanks for waiting.
Upon checking, and it show here the 2 items that you would like to purchase to get the “Disney Planes Racing Dusty Crophopper” for free are not eligible to the promotion. And you need to purchase over $25, so you can proceed to checkout with the free item. Because the free item is an add on item.

Me: ha, I understand, it’s sort of like false advertising.
in the ad it just says buy $15 of Planes and does not mention you also need to buy $25 of merchandise.

    here’s the actual text.
Disney Planes, Spend $15 Get Free Collectible
Spend $15 or More & Get A Free Disney Planes Racing Dusty Crophopper Collectible Die Cast Vehicle. See discount at checkout.

Amazon CSR: Yes, because you need to purchase the disney items with the free item upon checkout. Since the free item is an add on item, you need to spend $25, so the free item will be proceed to checkout.

Me: I’ll be sure to post this added information to all the major Disney Cars and Planes forums. I’m in Canada and can’t do much about it, but I’m sure other in the USA know how to deal with this. thank you.

Amazon CSR: That would be great, so the other customer will know how the promotions works. I’m sorry, if the promotion advertisement is not so clear.
    You are most welcome.
Would there be anything else I can help you with today?

Me: no, I think this about does it. Not a good ending. good night.

Amazon CSR: Alright. Thank you for contacting Amazon. You take care and have a wonderful night. Goodbye.

So new Planes are out and you need to spend $25 total, $15 of which are selected Planes only.

(MET: It is confusing as you can buy it for $6.99 as an add-on item when you spend $25/$35 on other merchandise … OR if you buy $15 worth of qualifying Mattel PLANES merchandise to get it FREE. I had to do it twice but the second time worked for me. I put in $16 worth of PLANES into my cart. I then went to the PROMO PAGE (link above) and clicked on ADD to Toy Box. Then I went to checkout and on the last SUBMIT page, I could see the $6.99 credit on my final total … so maybe it might help to clear your cache and try again?)

for me to get this, I had to go over 25.00 also, I added a third plane, to go over 25.00, and then it worked. It is misleading. I did manage to get three decent ones, Secretary (Teddy), Windy Wheelchocks, and Falco. I kept missing out on Trudy Trailways, although that was a choice every so often also.

Received my Dusty Promo today. Look better than I expect. Really happy to have this added to my collection. I love the boxes (cardboard and acrylic) too. Love when they do that. It really make it a nice collection item. The Metallic orange look more like goldish copper…

  • MackDaddy says:

I was able to order 2 Muir trains for roughly $32 and then added the Dusty which brought me over the $35 required for free shipping.

Amazon then credited me for the Dusty and for the shipping.

So I got 2 trains and a plane shipped for $32 plus tax! Sweet! All I need now is an automobile!

  • quercy says:

Works very well for me… Or course the $15 planes merchandise must be from the TOY BOX selections only. Unfortunately Secretary/Drip/Pontoon BOX was no longer available…

    • tzdtmm says:

I’ll be darned, I don’t get what I did wrong, even the Amazon people were stumped.

(MET: I had no troubles – was it just mattel disney planes? CARS or non mattel Planes do not seem to count …).

  • tzdtmm says:

well when I do the 15 or more (add to toy box), it tries to remove the “add on item” collectible diecast Dusty during check out, so I called customer service, and they said it should just be a 25.00 or more add on item promotion only. I argued, “well the web page says 15.00 or more, which I did, so what gives?” I was on hold for 21 minutes while he checked with his supervisor, and they said they will call me back within 24 hours with a resolution.
