Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: “Mack Me Bucko” Customs

If you can’t wait for the release, you can make your own – if you have the skills like “Mack Me Bucko.”

It’s not a party everyday when you remove the hat. Alex Hugo.

Moderfied Mater.

Pretty darn cute.

From the short.

Once listed as coming.

Big Al (the real Big Al). It’s just a guess but nicely done. No one is sure what Big Al actually looks like Lizzie alludes to him as strong enough to pull Bessie …

Holley Shiftwell with (ALL) her wings as from the film.

And you’re comped! You’re comped! And you’re comped! Enough Casino Pitty’s to open a real casino! Nice done of all the varieties – the little lids are great!

And also on the list but never arrivé – Sarge with Howitzer.

Great detailing!

Thanks for the great pics and even greater customs. The bar is set – how do your custom’s stack up? 🙂

Thank You folks. Glad to have shared. The details on each are as follows:

Alex Hugo was merely filling the holes in the roof with Miliput epoxy putty, sanding, smoothing, then brush painting a slightly off black color on. It’s not an exact match, but unless you’re under direct light, it looks okay.

“Moderfied Mater” uses thin Baltic birch plywood, cut into strips and applied as close as I could ascertain from screen images — didn’t quite get it exact, but it pleases me.

“Big Al” is a Lesney/Matchbox Superkings dump truck from the 1960’s, merely painted fresh and has had decal eyes added. Wish we really knew what Big Al was supposed to be beyond that cruddy image in the comic book.

Holley’s new tailplane is taken from one of the cake topper vinyl toys, I just cut the tail off and glued it to a stock Holley. Seeing this, I need to check why she has such a large gap around her rear bumper!

The various Casino pitties are made from Marco/Marcelo; with doll house size bottles and added wine label decals from military model suppliers. The dealers have visors made from Mattel blister material, dyed green with stained glass dye. I got the idea for the dealers with dice or roulette ball from someone else here on T5AD. The bow ties on some were printed on photo paper, since one of the two pitties doesn’t have a bow tie (the one with the phone). I have eleven Casino pitties now …

Sarge with howitzer was a real pain. All the Sarge models in my collection are made from the Takara/Tomy model, not the Mattel version. I feel Mattel’s is just too large, and use it with the 1:43 Disney Store models instead. Sarge’s Howitzer is a US Army “75mm Pack Howitzer” from WW2. This was a really small gun, and could be broken down into four pieces which could be mule packed or air-dropped, or for short distances, man-carried. As such, a 1:55 model of it (wargaming scale) was much too small. A 1:48 model was also too small. I ended up using a cast metal kit once made by Tamiya in 1:35 scale, to match the screen captures. The trail of the cannon was shortened, the sign is printed on photo paper. Sarge had his bumper removed and a new one made from strip styrene, and his front axle was removed and glued under his body, not through it.

    Enjoy!
