I’m sure there will be an unending supply of Cars movies. Movies are now made to sell toys. I totally did not like Cars 2 due to the violent nature of the plot. Sure, little boys like to smash up things, but, Cars 2 totally was devoid of the cute story plot of Cars, the Original. But, I’ve been following the unending supply of castings for Cars 2. If you’re a serious collector you’ll buy just about anything and everything that is thrown out there. A glimpse of some obscure cars in an otherwise obscure scene will lead to some big sales at the cash registers. The adult collectors will keep the castings comings as long as retailers order the bare minimum to justify the expense of production.

I still buy new castings that occasionally appear for Cars, The Original

I also keep hoping they will surprise us with a mini movie like toy story has gotten 2 of now..

  • cooltrainerpaul says:

Yes what ever happened to protect and serve (plus the ice racer and neon toons – im starting to think they were nothing more than a rumour) even disney store has had their die casts for months and nothing on a release!

Was planes 3 due? Would be nice if that appeared next year! Maybe need to clear all them blackout pegwarmers before it gets an offical announcement

    • Mack_me_Bucko says:

“Planes 3” has completely disappeared from any IMDb listings I can find. It’s like it was scrubbed.

To protect and Serve is going to be release soon in 2015, I don’t know when but we still have time to wait as we are on August, so it must be released soon, I think (and there is a book of the full short you can buy on Amazon). The Ice Racers and Neon Racers are not a short! it was just a rumour, it’s only a diecast collection. And Planes 3, it seems to be out of Disney’s schedule because there were no official announce and nothing confirmed at the D23 Expo. I think that it won’t be a Planes 3 after the bad reviews and it’s not so popular in franchise as Cars is…

Then I have a hard time to explain myself why they are still producing a new wave of planes and I doubt it will stop there… I remember reviews of Cars 2 was not good either but see how much marchandise they are selling…Ok they have overproduced some jumpers but all the others are not staying on pegs that long… I believe there will be a Planes 3….

        • Laika2 says:

you are right, Cars 2 had bad reviews but it’s so strong in merchandising and kids prefer it more so it’s logical that there would be a Cars 3 but Planes isn’t that strong as Cars is so I doubt that Disney make Planes 3. I can be wrong but as I see that it wasn’t on Disney’s schedule of upcoming films…

          • Mack_me_Bucko says:

And as I noted, it has been scrubbed from the IMDb files — no mention under Disney, DisneyToons, Praha Animation, Dane Cook … it is just gone from the database.

  • Mack_me_Bucko says:

A new Cars film can’t arrive soon enough, but aren’t we still waiting on at least one short (To Protect and Serve) if not two shorts? And whatever happened to Planes 3? It should have been out by now too.

    • Laika2 says:

You are totally right! we are still waiting for the short To Protect and Serve, I’m sure it will be released when we least expect it. I’m not sure that Disney is going to make a Planes 3 after the bad reviews that it is receiving.

Great!! It was a bit late the post here but finally you posted someting about the film! I’m so so happy for this and I’m sure Pixar will make the sequel that the original Cars deserves
