Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Alfredo to the Rescue

Thanks “John H.” for the ton-o great pics of “Alfredo” the Ambulance.

Alfredo-package-front

He is DE-LUXE. Solid diecast metal front to back – one giant mega deluxe unibody.

Alfredo-rside

And you learn Italian …

Alfredo-front

Graphic artists might go ackk at the shoddy kerning of “ambulance.”

Alfredo-lside

Of course, Italian speakers will blanche at the typo on the back.

Alfredo-rear

Emergenza! Emergenza! We need a dizionario! Or a Diznario.

Alfredo-rear-typo

Compared to the last ambulance – thought Rescue Chopper Ambulance’s back is all plastico.

Ambulances-side

He’s all mad we’re calling him plastic.

Ambulances-front

What does an Italian Ambulance sound like?

Starts at about the :19 second mark.

Thanks for the great pics, “John H!”

Finally found 2 @ 1 out of 2 targets in southern NJ outside Philly. Also seeing allinol Carla’s again, been a while. And a todd. I guess the is the tail end of the 2014.

No one wants to share their experience and wisdom of mattel distribution? Still never seen him in a local store.

    • Mack_me_Bucko says:

While Mattel’s distribution system is hap-hazard, it can also be attributed to the store’s buyers, whether flesh-and-bone or automated. No one will stock brand new product while they still have inventory on the shelves, or in the warehouse — and while we see case assortments as opportunities to get the newest hot release; a store buyer sees a case as just 12 or 16 more pieces of inventory.

My reply is relevant, if it ever gets moderated and approved — am I on some sort of double secret probation, Met?

(MET: No, the spam filter has a mind of his own. Some company named Cyberdyne Systems – what could go wrong?).

These have been on the pegs at local Targets in Tacoma, WA. Things may be starting to get better. Yesterday I also found at one Wal-Mart two Super Chase “95” Fans Luigi & Guido. Also found 2 Louis LaRues at K-Mart. There were three LaRue sitting at my local TRU, but, they can sit there for $5.99 each, choke, choke!

I have only been collecting for less than a year so I need help explaining store availability. So I havent seen this in the store, live near Philly. Yet, I see messeges of people seeing 2015 cars in stores and see them on ebay. Or Fire and rescue. Pinecone I saw once months ago, now I see one rarely but still not often. I still havent seen the other cars from that movie but see them on ebay being sold from the US. Help me understand. I know that some are released in less quantity per case or different months…but the pattern is more erratic than that.

When disney store has something it hits ebay but it also in the store. That is less frustrating.

I have yet to see this guy, but at least I have a trade set up for one.

  • Wraukn says:

Is that weathering on the front of Alfredo? The 2 that I have are bright white. Is there a variant?

    • John says:

Not a variant, but very typical of the Cars we’ve been finding lately. Our Alfredo is really, really dirty, the rear axle is sagging and the paint and tampos are askew. (not to mention the typo on the back door)
Lots of Cars were like this for 2014. We used to try and clean them up before sending photos to Met, but now we are hoping to embarrass Mattel into shipping a better product. (it doesn’t seem to be working)

      • MoMcQueen says:

I know, right? It seemed to me that when they first switched from the Porto Corsa cardback to Themes cards, the initial few cases that I saw were spot-on immaculate in their contents. And it’s been a downward slide since. With globs and slapdash touch-ups and HAIR stuck in the bubble, I always love to see that. It’s like the guy in charge of quality control rummages through the reject dump pile and fills another couple cases at the end of every production run.

  • Mack_me_Bucko says:

Mattel hit one out of the park on this one, which just proves someone there pays attention at times.

  • cooltrainerpaul says:

I seen this for first time there on sat and snapped it up (from a bargain bin in tescos no less for £2, hiding with a bunch of mater waiters lol!!!) couldnt believe it!

But has already taken pride of places in sons collection – really nice car as above states really solid and weighty! Not sure about scale of it thou lol

  • MoMcQueen says:

I need at least six of these. My kids are going to kill each other to get their hands on these. (Three boys equals need to have one for each hand.) Grooooaan.
