Disney Pixar CARS: Neon Racers, The Book

My Target has not gotten these in yet but “Quercy’s” store has them …

Without giving away the entire story, there are some surprise racer appearances …

Interesting, does this mean there will be a Neon Frosty exclusive in Australia this Autumn again? Nothing listed as of yet but why not? It’s an easy repaint/deco …

There’s also an extra mini book on all the racers … This book is a Target exclusive (along with the Neon racers).

SPOILER ALERT: McQueen is not the winner of that Neon race… Who do you think it is? The ones who have the book do not give the answer…:-)

I wasn’t sure whether I was going to buy this, especially if it was merely a story about a race and who won, but it has a nice message about not being afraid to take on additional challenges.

Vitaly Petrov is introduced as the Russian racer in this book, though Frosty doesn’t get any explanation despite the fact that few kids outside of Australia are probably aware he appeared in a version of the movie. Either way, it’s good to have a growing group of international racers, and I actually thought the book was rather intellectual for kids. There’s a little in the stories about international culture and even some authentic dialogue. (The second half of the book is an expanded version of the “Rematch!” story set in Italy.)

The bonus book of character profiles hints that this “T-ROC” race series could spawn more themed diecasts. The Silver Series, hosted by McQueen, was the first in the race series.

And one weird thing: Grem is in the crowd watching the racers on Mt. Fuji!

I’ll buy the book if Mattel decides to release the rest of the diecasts. Every Christmas, my kids ask me when we are getting Christmas Sarge, Flo, Lizzie, Red, Mrs. Claus, and the Reindeer snowmobiles.

For those of you in the Pierce County, WA area these are available at the Union Avenue, Tacoma Target.

It has really nice illustrations, not bad if you ask me. I did have two new finds today, I found the new wal mart case with kaa reesu and patokaa the cop car.

I am going to disney world in two weeks I will keep my eye out when I am there for anything exclusive and such. I know when I went last year I found a ton of galloping gear grinders and like an idiot I left them. I should have grabbed all of them but I was not as big into cars as I am now.

In the picture of Frosty, notice in the background on the building there is an ad for “Lots-O-Huggin Bear Car” — a Toy Story 3 tie-in. Nice attention to detail once again.

  • Bumper Save says:

How much does the book cost?

    • D J says:

According to the last pic it appears to be $10.99

    • quercy says:

Yes that’s correct. $10.99 + tax. I believe it is a fair price for this nice hardcover book. Also there is a wonderful book “MEET THE CARS” at $12.99 + tax which is also a great deal considering the book has 141 pages featuring 200 cars. The book jacket is an exclusive poster too.
