Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Oversized Deluxe Preview 2014

While the overall singles scheduled are not too exciting, the 2-pack Movie Moments look interesting and the oversized Deluxe lineup definitely looks pretty good.

Of course, Nelson Blindspot and Chuck “Choke” Cables is already out so we’re off to a good start diecast character wise. The fact there’s only 1 Chuck Cables in each case is weak though.

On a related note, Kmart will also get a FIRST TO MARKET case – whether it’s tied into a mailaway/promo/CARS Day is unknown but their FIRST TO MARKET CASE contains CHUCK CHOKE CABLES, RED, (presumably not part of the case promised as first to market but instead) …

JUNGLE MILES AXEROD and …

Miles Jungle

RACE TRACK TOW TRUCK.

These are NOT exclusives. Kmart will get them first to sell but if it’s like their last case of FIRST TO MARKET, it means pretty much nothing as other cases were available with the first to market CARS or they shipped very quickly as regular releases.

Other returning Deluxe Oversized from 2013 are Waiter Mater & Ivan – both nice that they are available again. Ivan was the free mail-away promotional CAR and Waiter Mater was shipped in only one case so it’s nice both are back.

NEW for 2014 include:

PARIS BUS

GREM WITH CAMERA/EARPIECE

Grem Camera

And RACE TRACK AMBULANCE.

AND there’s really only 2 old re-releasers on the list – RED & MACK. Though these two seem to packed in many cases.

So, overall, out of first 11 Oversized Deluxe releases listed, only Red & Mack can be considered “common,” even the 2 repeats from 2013 will be welcomed as a lot of people haven’t gotten a chance to get Ivan or Waiter Mater … and while GREM is not really a Deluxe, with a camera, earpiece and more? – Nice.

Where’s Frank? Looks like Frank won’t be back until later in the 2014 year – why make it easy, right?  🙄

I’m not writing 2014 off yet.
There will be surprises, there always is.
The singles lists are bleak, but what exclusives are unknown that we will see, like the recent release of Jay W.

The 2 packs and Deluxe lists are a bright spot for sure.

And of course, people are being negative over this. So many new Cars yet people are STILL complaining! No wonder people are calling 2014 a bad year; I bet if every single Car this year was new besides Francesco people would still moan about the Francesco and not get excited over all the new stuff.

I understand the reaction… and I am one of them too… It is not really about the repeat itself, it is the time between the re-release… They could bring back so many other other released cars. For instance the Tunerz series could have Komodo, Bye Bye Kar, Kabuto Ninja, Yojimbo, etc… than just the exact same as 2013… And having 4 NEW cars (only one of each) and 10 LMQ in the first two cases is pretty frustrating… Really why bringing back Mack so often especially there will be one variant with headset… Frank is more than overdue… soooo many people are waiting for him… And Mattel knows it that is for sure… If I was a baseball card collector and I was getting the same common player over and over in each and every pack I open, I would probably give up buying cards in hope to get the superstar I am looking for and I never get… same thing in here I guess…

Ivan??? Well thanks for been an “exclusive only” Mattel!

  • Tom says:

I know this has come up before, but what rides in a bus in the World of Cars?

  • Jack says:

Figures no Frank or Bessie. 2014 just doesn’t look good for Cars.

  • John in Missouri says:

Probably Frank, as in Frank Clutchenson.

  • cac1959 says:

Good news on the new Deluxe… Jungle Miles and the Paris Bus are my 2 favorites on the list… wish they were re-releasing Frank and Bessie.

    Thanks for the update.
