Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Themes 2014 Singles Preview – Mel Dorado TV Show
Continuing from 2013, CARS singles & multi-packs are grouped by theme – For 2014, this “Mel Dorado TV Show,” theme is certainty the oddest of them all. It features characters appearing on the Mel Dorado TV Show where Francesco goads Mater into signing Lightning up for the race around the globe.
Releases under this theme – “Mel Dorado TV Show” include:
“Chemist with Beaker” – I’m sure he’ll get an actual name. Is this the first Peugeot CAR? Or will they cheat and repaint Erik Lanely?
“Yelling Francesco” – interesting as Francesco is a unibody so they will actually have to create a new mold with his mouth open wide (like the Finn yelling release).
The oddest guest appearing on the show. Todd, Pizza Planet Truck also appears at the end race scene in RS – so I wonder if he was jammed in here because they thought they forgot to include Todd? Or was he intended as the “Easter Egg” here since most people are watching the rest of the screen action (except us crazies who spotted him on the TV screen up above the bar) and added in the last race scene anyway?
Todd – Pizza Planet Truck. A lot time re-release coming – almost like an exclusive or CHASE as he was officially released just once in the Kmart case from the Rae O Rama days.
The re-release of Mel Dorado is also grouped under this theme – der, the 5th release might be Hudson Hornet Piston Cup Lightning McQueen but I’m not positive.
NOT listed under the group but maybe we’ll see these two in a 2-pack MM to go with the Chemist. Easy to do, repaints plus some accessories.

I just scored an Allinol Chemist with beaker off eBay, according to the cardback, his name is Lee Race’. Same seller also had Cora Copper, and the Wheel Well Guido with drinks and banner, except the banner was in Spanish or Italian.
The Allinol chemist, Lee Race’, just arrived at my home on cardback from a Chinese vendor. It’s an excellent car, with beaker, and it is an all new sculpt from what I can tell.
Met, Please please, when will you learn that saying the same thing over and over again does not make it true? We should all know this by now, especially after the most recent “you get to keep your doctor and health care plan” lies. Todd was not released only once in the KMart case. He was released in Race-O-Rama Case H. In fact, there were 2 Todd in that case. While it may have not been a widely released case on the retail level, it was still an officially released Mattel case. Whether you want to admit it or not, the case existed and was released, therefore it counts.
I can not wait for the chemist car. I am gonna have to buy a bunch of them just for the flask (if they will come with the flask)
I just noticed the Mini Cooper is holding a pencil. A PENCIL.
Looks like some interesting characters in this theme. Hope I can find the Pizza Planet truck and the scientists.
Is it confirmed if Jungle Miles will be before or after his adventure?
why do cars need safety goggles? they have windshields made of safety glass. where are their wipers?
We do already have at least one Peugeot, Mary Esgocar, so if the Chemist with beaker is a repaint, I would assume that is what they would repaint.
Can’t wait for the Allinol chemists and Todd but I can’t believe there’s no Jungle Miles mentioned.

On the list I saw Jungle Miles is a Deluxe under this Theme of Mel Dorado Show. There was a Mater as well.
Looking at the table of elements in the background I was wondering if they come up with thier own symbols… Until I noticed element 105 Ha… Wich was the name used in honor of Otto Hahn proposed by the Americans in the late 60’s. Hahnium was used for some time until a naming controversy in the 90’s occured. Finally Db was adopted in 1997 after the Russian town of Dubna. (Nuclear research center). So let’s presumed this “picture” was taken prior to 1997, unless someone can confirm the movie is mentioning something about a time frame to make it accurate… 😉
(MET; Interesting … Well, the latest referenced Pixar film at the time of CARS seem to be Monsters Inc, right? And we know Lighting won 5 Piston Cups since then … so it should be about 2006/2007? in CARS 2 World … the Littoral Combat Ships were commissioned by the US Navy in 2008 so … you could argue they are behind in chemistry (though pretty proficient in lasers) or Miles was too cheap to buy them a new elements chart. 🙂 ).
Just realized the table stops at element 109 Mt discovered in 1982. All elements with higher numbers have been discovered later… So that snapshot MUST be somewhere between 1982 and 1993… This is “elementary” 😉
I don’t think so – the test tube holder is a 1996 model and that particular pencil was introduced in 1997.

These are pretty neat additions to the diecast line. A friend mentioned the possibility that the chemist is actually a female; some of the canon females have little or no “eyeliner.” Maybe the character’s canon name will shed some light on this.
Wait… So Todd the Pizza Planet truck is in two themes now? RSN and Mel Dorado Show?
And what happened to Jungle Miles Axelrod?
So am I the ONLY one that cares that Todd is being released in two themes apparently?!
(MET: Well, he’ll be one or the other – he’s definitely listed so that’s more important than the preliminary themes list. I am not guaranteeing anything – it’s just a list – until he actually gets released in a real released case, it’s just a list. Please do not take or place bets. 🙂 ).
I must have blinked and missed the “Chemist with Beaker” in the movie.
I love how Take5 continually breaks these stories before other Collector sites are “allowed” to.
Looking forward to the chemist. Hope they do it right with a New sculpt and he cool helmet/face shield.
