It’s official official – Convoy Brothers are coming to the D23 Expo – $100 – a nice round number. The official press release.

The D23 Expo starts August 9, 2013 at 9 AM. You can begin to lineup NO EARLIER than 5 AM. That is what Disney & Anaheim have decided.

If you have a Sorcerer Package Level ticket, as part of your package, you can start shopping THE DAY BEFORE at 2:00 PM. This was the $1,500 ticket package available last summer. Our first post on D23 Expo listed everything in the package. As far as I can tell, they are sold out on the Sorcerer Package ticket packages so even if you want to upgrade, it appears you cannot. But you can always ask when you get there.

For everyone else who do not have the Sorcerer Package tickets – you can start buying things the day the show opens on August 9th.

It’s unknown how many of the Convoy Brothers were produced but it turned out real nice. 🙂 Here is the detailed early sneak peek. For those who want to know it all – it’s 3 lbs and 8 ounces in its outer box. The outer box is 16.5″ long, 6.25″ wide and 7.5″ tall. This measurement adds a slight pad all the way around.

The outer box is great. This may be the greatest outer packaging ever. That “rip” on the right side, it’s actually a design element – it’s printed that way on the cardboard to give the effect there is a tear.

It has handles on both sides. Yes, the “rip” on the left is a design element not an actual puncture. 

What’s great is that the both of the sides are designed DIFFERENTLY. One side features more “cracks” and “oil stains” because it was printed-designed as such. Those are real handle holes BTW, real 3D not printed 3D. 🙂

Same with the sides – both sides are different from each other to convey that it’s a working garage where you have a box of oil cans.

As with a working garage, you have spills and leaks. Exterior box – Spectacular.

It’s safe to say there is rarely if ever this much detailed devoted where ALL FOUR sides are different on an exterior box. WooHoo!

(Even the top is pretty nicely done – the bottom is the standard legal disclaimer, UPC & product number on all Mattel boxes).

The box is so nicely done, I did not want to slice open the packing tape seal on the top. Instead, the bottom is folded with flaps so I slid out the tab to open it – you do have to bend it slightly but for me, that seemed like a better way to go but it’s your call.

The Convoy Brothers are real. 🙂

One more bit of D23 Expo info for those attending …

Because they do not receive a membership card, D23 Free Members will be able to access the D23 Expo early provided they have their membership receipt from DisneyStore.com and a photo ID.

So, if you have tickets to D23 Expo, you might as well sign up for a free D23 membership if you do not have one.
