Mattel Disney PLANES: Cleared for Retail Landing

Actually out on the show floor – PLANES – thanks for the photos, “John H!” He did all the hard work so you can decide what store(s) to shop at.

Kmart … it’s unclear if PLANES products counts in the Ivan mail-away offer … if they do count, obviously, that’s nice – will someone call or just mail in the receipts to see?

The standee does read PLANES/CARS – do you have legal standing?

Next up, Toys R Us – with an endcap & a bin – nice. Plus a sale for 3 weeks, Buy $50, get $10 off PLANES products, that’s 20% off. So, if you get to $50, then singles are in effect $5.19 each as they are selling singles at $6.49 … the Gift Packs with Pitty’s seem to be a consistent $13.99 everywhere.

Also an endcap.

But if you don’t want to deal with the whole buy $50 thing, Walmart has the best deal on singles – $4.88!

It looks like all the retailers have the same singles so no Bravo – maybe coming closer to the film in another few weeks?

Here’s diecast Dusty compared to the plastic versions in the two playsets out – here’s the Skytrack Challenge opened.

John H. reports nothing new at his Targets … yet.

Thanks John H. for the great photos – now I won’t have to leave the house for another week. 🙂

I found Dusty, Ripslinger, Leadbottom, Skipper, Ishani and El Chupacabra at a TRU express today marked at $6.49 each. I did find the 2 gift sets at Target the other day and snagged them.

Having now actually seen these on a stand alone display at a K-Mart, I’m not overly impressed by their size. The scale of the planes really does not make them a play along side by side with the die cast Cars. By themselves they are cute.

What I really cannot understand is some of the bid on eBay for these. Patience is not a virtue some people have.

Hi Missouri gang and all collectors everywhere else. I found one each of the Target four packs at a Target store here in the city (St.Louis). That was all they had though, so I don’t know if that particular store has more in back or not.

Found then all at my local Wallmart-VERY SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!

All those pictures looks like “my” Kmart, “my” TRUs and “my” Walmart…where you around here John?? 😉

I found a lot at TRU and K-Marts in PA. I got 4 Ishani’s. I have a feeling she is going to be like Lizzie, not in plentiful supply. I also got most of the case, but left 2 Dusty Crophoppers.

  • BMW says:

Target – had nothing out, it was a waste of time really. They had the 4 packs in the stockroom and would only bring one 4 pack out with Chug, saying 1 per customer. Red shirt said the shipment only had 8 of the 4 packs.
TRU – had the big display and an endcap. The display had 2 Ishantis, so I assume 2 cases on the display. All manner of track sets, 3 packs, nice assortment.
Walmart – had an end cap with singles, and track sets. Did not see any of the Pit Row Gift packs. The toy manager said the cube display came damaged as Mattel used flimsy cardboard, so she created an end cap with the toys instead. There were 2 Ishantis on the endcap.

  • Matersgrlfriend says:

My TRU had this same set up and we bought one each of the tent sets and the singles (and couple extra Ishanti’s).

Plan to check Target today for the 4 packs. I want Chug!

We bought the 3 Tent sets, 2 Ishantis, a Skipper, a Leadbottom, and a Ripslinger yesterday. We opened Dusty’s tent and an Ishanti. The kids really seem to like them.

I think the big push for these won’t come for a few weeks … and at the moment, I must say I am just not sold on them. Maybe once we see the movie, we will find some sort of attachment to them. Right now, they just do not grab us like Cars do.

  • John in Missouri says:

I also did some hard work yesterday, but not one store had any signs of Planes life.

    Walmart – zilch

    Kmart – nada

    Target – squat

Gerbes – oyster crackers on sale

It was the same here in my part of Missouri too, John. I’m in Kansas City, Missouri. I went out on 6/28 (Friday) and there were no Planes at any of the stores I went to which was 3 Targets, 3 Walmarts, 2 Kmarts and 2 Toys R Us. One Toys R Us had a case of Planes singles mixed in with some Cars singles on an endcap but that was it.

I didn’t go out looking today (Saturday, the 29th) I guess today was the day to go out. I already have all the Planes from the Disney Store but I do want to pick up the Pit Row sets for the 4 different pittys and I would like to have the aircraft carrier.
