Disney California Adventure: CARSLAND, Massive Hit!

From The Hollywood Reporter.

The five-year renovation to the Disneyland-adjacent theme park, with attractions like the $200 million Radiator Springs Racers (the most expensive ride in history), helped boost attendance by 22.6 percent in 2012 to 7.8 million visitors — enough to make it the 11th most-attended theme park in the world. (The park drew 6.3 million visitors in 2011.)

For those thinking of going to Cars Land…..

We live in San Diego and have been on the Radiator Springs Racers ride 4 times this year (2 different trips). Its the best ride I’ve ever been on. Let alone the fact that its “cars” – the ride itself is fantastic.

Some tips – the fast pass for it sells out in about 1 hr so make sure you get them right at park opening. They are also strict with your fast pass time.

Here’s our experience last week before CA schools were out. We all lined up at the outside gate of California Adventure 1hr before opening. 30 minutes before opening they let you in to line up in the street near the ride. I jumped in the fast pass line – wife and kids were in the racers line. At 9am they open all gates and you can make your way to the rides. Word of note – people that stay at the Disney hotels can get in at 8am so there is already a line at the ride itself! I got fast passes and then walked down the single rider line and found my family. We still waited 1hr 45 minutes at 9am. We went on a second time at 12.30 – fast pass wait about 20 minutes. Fourth time just as good as first time.

At dusk the neon comes on…..

Now my kids don’t want to go to Disneyland anymore just California Adventure!

I will be going in July

I can’t wait to go someday! I think the kids will loooove it even if they’ve moved on to other things (Star Wars Legos, Minecraft, running around the yard in funny costumes, etc).

Every time I’ve gone it’s mobbed, especially at night. Busiest area in both parks by far.

When I visited Hollywood Studios to help folks with Star Wars Cars, there were two little birdies that worked at the park that buzzed in my ear some interesting info … they said there is a Carsland coming to Hollywood Studios in a few years. These numbers might be part of the reason why. Not sure how true it may be, but I like the sound of it!! :–D

That will be what it takes to get me to return to Disney World. Otherwise, I’ll be taking a roadtrip to California when my son is old enough.

That is what they are saying. They are thinking about putting a mini Cars Land complete with Radiator Springs Racers in the Lights/Motor section of Disney-MGM Studios (can’t get to calling it Hollywood Studios.) They are also still thinking of Avatarland in Animal Kingdom, which seems less exciting. But even greater than these, is the possibility of Star Wars Land in Disney/MGM. Now that Disney owns Star Wars, they may finally have something to out wizard Harry Potter.
Thanks for helping folks with the Star Wars Cars. Too bad I wasn’t one of them. 🙁 I’m still trying to get them through Disney Delivears….Uggg.
