Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Walmart Toons Diecast 3-Packs Not Selling?

I’m a little surprised these are still available … the wrestling CARS all seem sold out … so, what’s the holdup? Not enough airings of the Toons? Priced too high?

Wish they’d come to the UK! But I’d agree with comments above. Need new characters to sell and not just a new box!

If each pack had just 1 new character they would fly off the shelves.

The Heavy Metal Mater one should be $10 in my opinion. The 2 pitties were $5 as a single at one time. And i don’t think that Mater needs to be a Deluxe.

The big problem isn’t just the price, it’s the typically terrible assortment from Mattel. I think the first case of 3-packs had 4 Heavy Metal Mater’s and 2 Mater the Greater’s. They should have been 2 of each, plus 2 of something else.

Wrestling Cars are sold out? Not around here. More of those than the 3-packs. Take Flight deluxe Cars are $5; and are the only Cars that are actually selling well besides Franca and Harumi from case F. For $5, I even broke down and bought an Aviator Mater; and I don’t even collect the Toons series. Even the Kabuki and Ivan Maters are sitting on the pegs. $7.97 + tax is just too high, and I think parents are tired of overpaying for these. I’m sure all these will be cleared out shortly though, to make room for the coming Planes toys.

I think it’s another classic example where too many of the first case may be jeopardizing the following cases… I bought myself 1 Mater the Greater 3 pack because I didn’t get that 4 pack for myself… As I got the HMM 4 pack, I don’t need the 3 pack… A 3 pack with 3 singles should run about the $12 price that the 3 individual singles should cost.

I would’ve bought them by now if they weren’t priced to high. I’d rather buy three cars separate for about $9 instead.

  • Tom says:

They are selling “OK” here, but yes, they are priced too high and not enough Toons exposure on TV.
Also, WM now has 3 different deluxe prices, $7 for Take Flight, $8 for mainline and $9 for Wrasslers.
    What the hey…

None of these have shown up here yet

Heavy Metal and Mater the Greater vehicles sat on TRU’s shelves a long, long time just a couple of years ago. We were able to get most of them at close-out prices. There just isn’t much demand for more.

Too bad they can’t release new variants of these same Toon characters.

Mia & Tia wrestling fans, Mia & Tina Senoritas or Mia & Tia NASCA technicians, engineer pitties; any characters from Mater PI, Time Travel Mater. They might even sell some Take Flight Hawks #2 & #3!

I say priced WAAAAY to high! Didn’t stop me from buying them but I think the average logical shopper can’t justify the price. Every Walmart around here still has tons of them.

  • Fillmore1234 says:

They are selling, It’s just that WM is geting way more shipments of the 3 packs than the Deluxes. My local WM had gotten in three Cases of the 3 Packs before they got in one Case of Deluxe.

That, along with the high price tag, is definitely what’s kepping them on the shelves.

These have been reordered several times at my store. Always have the heavy metal version left, they will fly off the shelves when/if they ever release the Tokyo mater set that’s on the back of the box and hopefully before my kids bday at the end of this month!
