If You’re a Numbers Geek – The Mattel Year-End Financial Wrapup Webcast

Mattel, Inc.Β today announced that it will webcast its quarterly conference call on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time. Led by the company’s chief executive officer, Bryan G. Stockton, the conference call will cover the company’s fourth quarter and full year 2011 financial results, which will be released prior to the call.

The conference call will be webcast on the “Investors & Media” section of the company’s corporate Web site. To listen/watch the live call, log on to the Web site at least 15 minutes early to register, download and install any necessary software. An archive of the webcast will be available on the company’s Web site for 90 days and may be accessed beginning two hours after the completion of the live call.

A telephonic replay of the call will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time the morning of the call until Friday, Feb. 3 at midnight Eastern time and may be accessed by dialing + (404) 537-3406. The passcode is 40640038.

Certain financial and statistical information included in the webcast, such as information required by Regulation G, will be available at the time of the webcast on the “Investors & Media” section of Mattel’s corporate website.

And no, you cannot speak or ask anything unless you are a professional analyst working for a financial firm. πŸ™‚

You may listen/watch. You don’t really need any special audio or video software, your browser should be able to handle it. You can test it out by signing up and streaming any of the older conference calls/webcasts.

On the surface, I think they’ll report numbers beyond their projections – after all, they did sell the blazes out of CARS 2 and Green Lantern to retail … plus I think Barbie, Hot Wheels did fine and Monster High & Disney Princesses had great years … there will obviously be lots of Green Lantern product to mark down but Green Lantern is a blip compared to Barbie and Hot Wheels so they can brush it away. The fairly large question is how much CARS 2 product is on the pegs & in the backrooms and when those markdowns will occur – consolidators already have CARS 2 product to sell so it’s begun. The question is whether Mattel will start the write downs and adjustments next Q or will take the bullet now- easier to surface over when lumped in with an entire year of sales but more noticeable when citing QUARTER numbers.

The other big elephant is that Fisher-Price had a poor year so whether everything was able to overcome that or not will be another question.

You can also sign up for an email alert so you don’t forget to make some popcorn, pour yourself a large drink and don’t worry – you can stay in your PJ’s – they cannot see you.

  • Hey there Dude_met-Dude…

    Long time no talky-talky…

Happy new year!!! Keeping an eye out as often as possible on Take5 – And loving all the non-cars stuff that u randomly find…

Jsut wanted to chime in that that Twitter – Facebook – COUNTER that pops up on the top left hand side of the site is REALLY annoying (To the power of ten) FYI

Love that cars UN is finally wrapped up…. Or is it?!?!?

(MET: I’m not sure how it got turned on but there is a tiny “hide” button on the left. Working on turning it off).

I wonder if he will tell us how many Finns they produced this year.

  • John says:

Our local TRU manager was telling us that their last two weekly shipments have consisted almost entirely of merchandise that did not sell at the small TRU Xmas stores they set up seasonally in the malls. That certainly makes sense, but means that there won’t be much new product until they can clear out some room.
His TRU still has pegs full of Cars Hauler tractors, Marco and Sven; there’s even two very shelf worn Ramone’s playhouse sets.

(MET: We did not a get a TRU Express close by this year but last year (2010’s) TRU Express did not have many CARS items … so did the 2011 version of TRU Express have lots of CARS?)

Just think what they’re year end financials would like like if they’d produce the items their customers would like…

    From Cars:
    Haulers
Team Crew sets with crew chief and 3 pittys
    Pit Row Race-off Launchers
    RVs

Other unreleased items, including Cars Toons

Cars2 items with decent case assortments and distributions… it wasn’t nice of Mattel to stick retailers with horrible assortments of singles, oversize, launchers, and 2 packs, among other products.

I’m not going to hold my breath for a better 2012 but it doesn’t hurt to dream…

    Neat!
